Professor Layton and the Curious Village

So, anyone pick this game (released yesterday) up yet?

It's made by a team who did Dragon Quest, and has some very nice cutscenes as well. The game is kinda like Phoenix Wright meets Brain Age, with you solving a mystery as you do very challenging puzzles.

I haven't found it yet, but has anyone got this or thinking of getting it?

Its a collection of puzzles and not mini-games as I was lead to believe by my cousin right? Because we all know DS doesn't need another collection of mini-games.
(And yes, this is the only reason I haven't played it myself yet.)

Yes. It is indeed a puzzle game, not a mini game collection.

I plan on getting this game. It looks very interesting, and I've heard good things about it online.

I love how some of the puzzles in ths game turn out to be deceptively simple.

I've lost track of the number of times I've started doing a bunch of mathematical calculations, only to re-read the clue and go "oh, hey", and find the answer in seconds.

... sliding puzzles can go to hell, though. Ugh.

Yeah. Alot of the puzzles are pretty easy once you realize the obvious answer.

The one with the match, the multiplying germ one, and the My Beloved ones all tricked me at first.

Yes! Hah, the germ one got me, too. And a similar one about breeding mice.

There's one called "Fish Thief" that was real bad about overthinking, though. Somehow, I managed to convince myself that any of the three answers could have worked, and wound up just having to make a blind guess.

And I still don't understand why one of the other answers wasn't possible.

Oh well. \/
