Hey there everyone. Ever since I learned how to RNG for shiny Pokemon, I've been thinking of an idea. What if every month or so I have a shiny "giveaway" where I hatch a box full of one kind of shiny Pokemon and offer them here on the trading forums?

Of course I would ask for something in return (a TM, an egg-moved Pokemon, etc.) but do you all think this would be a popular thing? I don't want to hatch a bunch of shiny Pokemon and have no one to trade them to. Also, I would make sure that the shinies have Egg moves and some of them would have a perfect IV or two. I would call this giveaway Project Sparkle and try to make it a regular event, posting a thread of how close I am to filling a box with the shinies (to give everyone an idea of how far away the next giveaway would be).

EDIT: Link to latest thread at http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/showthread.php?t=54126

Re: Project Sparkle

Is this the start of the giveaway or you're just asking everyone's opinion? Quite frankly it's a nice idea.

Re: Project Sparkle

I would like it as long as what you wanted in return wasn't too hard to obtain.

Re: Project Sparkle

Yes, definitely do it. I would be offering stuff for each month :)
Many people love shinies, including me. I can guarantee you that you would get a bunch of hits. If you ended up getting a bunch extra, you could open a shop/offering thread with a bunch of extras. Or, you could include these in another section of 'project sparkle'.
nice name, btw!

Re: Project Sparkle

I agree with everyone else great name and great idea. I'd definitely take you up on your offer :)

Re: Project Sparkle

I say no, due to selfish reasons. You would lessen the value of a shiny, it would be inflation.

Yes, it would inflate the value of shinies a little bit, but not a lot. My reasons for saying this are:
  1. There is a limited supply of them that I will give away (30 to be exact). Once they're gone, they're gone.
  2. It will only be 30 of a specific Pokemon. I won't give away many different shinies at a time, so people who want other shiny Pokemon will still have to seek them.
  3. Other people already RNG shinies and give them away from time to time.

Shiny Pokemon are really just for looks, they're not stronger than a non-shiny Pokemon. I'd like to have this event to give anyone who's interested a chance to have one.

At this point, does it really matter? Besides, shinies with good IVs and natures will always be at least as valuable as their non-shiny counterparts :]

SilverAzalea, this sounds like a decent idea, but please do shinies that are not common. I would avoid stuff like Charmanders, other starters, Beldum, etc as a lot of people already have them.

Re: Project Sparkle

I I think that you should make this giveaway happen!!!!! :)
I would rng, but I have a mac and there is no rng sofware for it :-(
I would liek them a lot more if they had good egg moves, and I would donate tms to be taught to the parent for example if one person donated tm earthquake, all of the babies would have it as an egg move!
thank you for being kind :)!

Re: Project Sparkle

Go for it. I think that it is a good idea. I somewhat agree with Grape Drink though. But Troggy is also right it has gone way to far to be a worry of that anymore.

I would like to point out that even though you say that there are only going to be 30 of them it doesn't mean someone isn't going to mass clone them and give it away. There are alot of collectors that just get the pokemon and never touch it again unless using it to get another pokemon. Other than that go for it.

Re: Project Sparkle

Hey there everyone, sorry for not being on yesterday (had a migraine and fever yesterday, wasn't feeling well, and slept most of the day after getting home from school). Since it seems that there's a lot of support for my idea, I'm going to go for it!

I hope to have the first event start in March. I'll post in the Offering forums with the title Project Sparkle count this weekend (probably Saturday) to start the count to how far I am to filling a PC box with the shinies. When it has reached 30/30, I'll post in that thread the date I'll start the giveaway, along with details of what sort of stuff I'll trade for (probably TMs/Egg-moved Pokemon/etc., as stated in the first post of this thread).

There will also be some 'leftovers' I have from past breeding projects that I will offer for fairly common items. I'll put those in a Spoiler thread (when I'm offering the shinies) if anyone is interested.

Re: Project Sparkle

Can we claim one before all 30 are hatched?

Are you going to tell us the shiny, or is it a surprise?

This sounds good. BtW, whats RNGing?

The easiest way to explain this: Google it. It's kinda hard to explain it, but if someone here can't then google it, that's what I did!
