Protagonist/Rival shipping discussion.

Anyone else like rival/protagonist shippings? Be them "regular" rivals or psuedo rivals?

No, Newreplacementshipping(Kris/Kotone) does not count, sadly.
But, spinoff rival shippings count.

Name the shippings you ship, and why?

For me, I ship:

Burningleafshipping(Red/Leaf)
Originalshipping(Green/Red)
Oldrivalshipping(Green/Leaf)
Hoennshipping(May/Brendan)
Influenceshipping(Kotone/Hibiki)/KrisxHibiki
Twinleafshipping(Damion/Dawn)
Fortuneshipping(Lucas/Dawn)
Newrivalshipping(Wally/May)
Blacksoulshipping(Kotone/Silver)/SilverCrystallineshipping(Kris/Silver)
Clingyshipping(Damion/Lucas)
Preciousmetalshipping(Hibiki/Silver)

So, basically I ship every shipping. I tend to ship them onesided, on the males side, though. If it's male/male..I ship Clingy. on Lucas side, only if you play as Dawn, Preciousmetal. on Hibiki's side, and Original. on Green's side.

I'm not sure why, they just "click" with me. There interactions and their dialogue..
 
YES!! They are usually my most favorite shippings in any fandom. I just love the "I hate you to death" vibe about them. It adds complexity (and humor) to the pair and just makes them more interesting ;)

I support:
Palletshipping (and mangapallet)(Ash x Gary/Green)
Comashipping (Ash x Paul)
Preciousmetal/Huntershipping (Gold x Silver, game and manga)
Franticshipping (Ruby x Sapphire); Hoenshipping's cute too.

Blacksoulshipping is growing on me...but I am stubbornly trying to resist it D:

I probably support more, but I can't pull them from the top of my head.

Fix'd.

Otheriwse, I don't bother with the protags or rivals. Not really. I used to be into Pallet, but now it's a toss-in pairing if I'm not pairing Ash up with anyone else. Otherwise, it's never really clicked with me, in this fandom. Hunter, sure, but it didn't last.

It's a bit confusing, people tend to group counterparts into the same shipping. For example, people would call Red/Green "Palletshipping" or Hibiki/Kris "Questshipping".
 
If characters are interchangeable between game and anime counterparts, then it's the same thing. Otherwise, they never should be grouped into the same 'ship, since it's incorrect (and I really wish they didn't; -.@ SoulSilvershipping is the current offender of the month).

Ash and Red aren't interchangeable, Gary and Blue aren't, and neither are Jimmy/Hibiki and Marina/Kris. Kamon/game!Silver are, as is everyone else not mentioned (Dawn/Barry/Lucas/Brendan/May/Kotone).

Which is why you have things like Pallet/Original/Nameless and NewBark/Quest/MangaQuest.

Ash and Red2.0 are especially not interchangeable by revamped design alone.
 
I know; I just meant, it's hard to figure out which shipping name is for each pairing since people think counterparts are interchangeable.
 
Is this just for the game characters or does the anime also count? In that case MorpheusShipping deserves a place in the list as well, since Ash and Angie became rivals during the summer academy, as professor Rowan stated in one of those episodes.
 
I usually ship the two player characters from each games with each other. Does that count? Oh the only exception is Ranger shadows of almia, in which I ship kate with keith and kellyn with rhythmi. Also in XD there is no second player character so I'm kinda stuck there (probably go with Lovrina).

I meant the games, but anime and manga shippings count too.
 
Errrm.... you do understand this topic is not about shipping products, but about pairing Pokémon anime or game characters together, and that "shipping" in this case refers to relationships? :eh:


This posting was a reaction on a posting above, where someone was listing some methods for shipping goods, but it was removed, and now my posting as a reaction is rather pointless...

I'm almost a Collideshipper now, but Palletshipping I find to be sort of cute.
 
Palletshipping was my first. I never really considered it an OTP since I really don't like Ash that much and I love Green/Gary/whatever a lot which lead to me supporting originalshipping since I like Red's character a lot better. Then, of course, Preciousmetal/Huntershipping is my total OTP. 6th sense for pairings, some just click, others make me really mad. XD

Well, LeafXGreen is increadably awsome, & SoulSilvershipping is complete pwnage.

& since I have a crush on Emerald Brendan & Game!Barry/Pearl/whatever he's called.... does that count?
