Which do you think is better?
Psychic, the classic, powerful move?
Or the new Psyshock, which deals out physical damage but is powered by Sp. Attack?

I said Psyshock because of the surprise factor of sending your Sp. Def bulky Pokemon out just to get hit with Physical damage.

I prefer Psychic, because a wide range of Pokémon can learn it, and it is more powerful than Psyshock.

Psyshock is cool, and it's rather like an idea I had for Machamp. (Machamp would clap its hands together and make a shockwave. [User's attack --. Opponent's Sp. Def.] The type of thing happens in cartoons all the time.)

LOL, for some reason I read this as "Psyduck vs. Psyshock"
Anyway, I'd say Psychic, because it's always been a staple on many Psychic-types and has been pretty reliable.

I went with Psychic, because it has better power, and verrrrrry handy. ;)

While Psyshock has the element of surprise toward an unsuspecting team, Psychic allows you to take out the Physical-Defense savvy Fighting Types, which is when Psychics are normally used.

Mewtwo will decimate fucking Blissey with Psystrike. D< About time, I hated that fat punk absorbing the Psychics I toss at her.

So, Psystrike/Psyshock for me. D8

Psyshock allows one to be a mixed sweeper while investing all the power on one stat, and can laugh at Blissey (or Eviolite Chansey)

Most psychic types invest in Sp. Atk, so Psyshock is the best choice. Giving coverage against Sp. walls while allowing to neglect an stat completelly (and such allowing the rest of stats to increase) isn't broken because the concept of the move has plenty of restrictions.

You have plenty of special Psychic moves for simple STAB damage too. While Psychic is the best for simple raw damage, there are enough alternatives. In pokemon with a really high Sp. Attack paired with a really low Attack, you may even consider exchanging Psychic for type coverage or some other strategy move.

Granted, for Pokemon with equal Attack and Sp. Attack, Psyshock is pointless.

Psychic because it has better power and can lower a stat. But Psystrike rocks and can only be learned by mewtwo.

This is hard for me to say, but I pick Psyshock. Psychic has been a very long-time favourite of mine, but now that Psyshock exists, I never seem to teach it to anything. Non-Psychics usually have superior Special Attack options, and I prefer to give Psychic-type Pokemon Psyshock for physical coverage. Knocking Blissey's teeth out with Alakazam & friends is far too irresistible.

This was a tough decision because I have always loved the move Psychic, but in recent times Psyshock has actually been much more useful to me. When I first discovered what the move entailed I thought it wasn't anything special, but it has proven to actually work better.

Both are great, but Psyshock is more ususual in that it targets the opponent's Defence, so I'll go with it.

Psyshock targets the opposite stat that most other special moves target, and it allows Pokémon with it to break special walls like Chansey and AV Magearna that they couldn't with Psychic. Given the choice between the two of them, it's Psyshock on a moveset 9 times out of 10.
