My brother recently bought one of those PUSA PokéDex books. It lists Rotom as a legendary. Whilst the trivia on Rotom's page states this, shouldn't we be officially classifying Rotom as a legendary? The back of that book also has an official list of legendaries, does somebody want a scan?

Rotom doesn't have a story rooted in ancient times, that I'm aware of. And what exactly is so special about being able to possess appliances? I call translation error.

They're probably basing it on the fact that the Legendary theme plays during the Rotom battle. Rotom is not Legendary, and PUSA doesn't decide these things.

I doubt that's a legit source.

I have an Emerald Strategy Guide from Prima that states that Mudkip is a Water/Ground Type, and that Brawly uses Flying Pokemon.

I could list more than that, but you get my point.

I seem to recall that PUSA on the main Pokemon website saying that Rotom wasn't a legendary Pokemon, too.

That's funny, because when I brought up Phione being a legendary, everybody said that PUSA was indeed a creditable source. By the defintion that we argued over the summer, Rotom is not a legendary and yet...

So again, I'll ask, is PUSA a valid source or not?

Of course. They are part of The Pokémon Company and is responsible for that every Pokémon-related thing that they consider should be release worldwide is released in the USA, Europe, and Australia.

What do they consider it in Japan? For all we know, PUSA just called it a legendary because it was at the end of the Pokédex and had a legendary theme music.

They've answered the Phione question on their mailbox.

Does PUSA manage Pokemon.com? We know there are a lot of mistakes there and the only certainty we can trust from that website is release dates.

I'd sday PUSA are as replyable as Wikipedia. There can be some information you can learn from them but theres always a chance its wrong.

Pokemon usa does manage pokemon.com. (it says that at the bottom of pokemon.com) They also managed the old pokemoncenter.com site before they closed it unexpectedly.

Then I'd like to point this thread out: http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/showthread.php?t=31738

Surely if one cannot seem to trust their website (and I know that this website gets some information wrong) why should we trust it on telling us what is a legendary on something as obvious as Rotom?
