Hi everyone I have a question Does Castform has the abillity to control the weather? or just the ability to utilize its power like a sun battery etc?

In-game, Castform has the ability to learn Sunny Day, Rain Dance and Hail (all at Lv.20) and thus change the in-battle weather as desired.

I think that while sandstorm is weather in terms of the game, it isn't really a type of weather like sunny, raining, or hailing. I wonder if anyone ever created a form for Sandstorm Castform?

I don't think it could have a Sandstorm form. Since its three documented forms are representative of sun, rain, and snow, and those forms are dependent on weather conditions, Castform must only like living in temperate climates, where all three types of weather would be found. A desert might not suit it. Or the sun of the desert might just make it stick in its Sunny Form.

okay, that might explain it then. I thought that with the weather teams and the weather changes it would be considered a weather situation.

Castform is an awesome pokemon as it can learn solarbeam, fire blast, blizzard, thunder, and hydro pump to

I forgot to add a 2 major points to my previous post
1 if you decide to max out you moves with 4 of the five i listed above YOU MUST have other pokemon on you team that know HAIL, Sunny DAY, Rain Dance.
2 you could also create a weather ball castform but if you do YOU MUST make sure your cast form or another pokemon or pokemon in your party know HAIL, Sunny DAY, Rain Dance.
the reason i said "you Must" do this is so you can get the most power out castform's moves

Well, Sandstorm is caused by wind, which is weather. So theoretically there could be a Sandstorm form, but I would guess it would be more of a wind form.

Hmm, the wiki says it is in its default form when it's foggy or calm, or a sandstorm. But it only changes in sunny weather, snow, or rain. Perhaps Castform's body only responds to the presence of liquid or solid water, but not water vapor. So fog or high humidity may not be enough to allow it to change. Though maybe if a Castform was sitting in a body of water, it would be able to change into its rain form even if it isn't raining. That's just a guess though.

something i found on the bulbapedia article for form changes"

Castform's first appearance at Hoenn's Weather Institute in Generation III brought about the concept of interchangeable forms. Unlike other Pokémon, an individual Castform's form is not static, and will change, due to its Ability, with the weather.

Normally, Castform takes on a rather plain appearance, with a gray body. In this form, it is of the Normal-type; as could be expected, it is in this form that it is at its least effective.

When Castform is exposed to bright rays of sunlight, it changes its form to a more sunny appearance, and becomes a Fire-type (Sunny Form). In rain, Castform becomes more like a raindrop, and becomes a Water-type (Rainy Form). Finally, in hail, Castform takes the form of a snowy cloud, and becomes an Ice-type (Snowy Form). It will not transform in any other weather conditions.

If Castform has its Ability Forecast negated, it will be locked in its current form and type, rather than reverting to its Normal form.

Castform's stats do not change between any of these forms.

and from the weather conditions aticle

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Castform is a Pokémon uniquely designed to take advantage of weather conditions. Its Ability, Forecast, causes it to change form when a weather condition is present. Forecast does not cause a unique change for every possible weather condition, though.

Weather Ball is a move that uniquely takes advantage of weather conditions. In Generation III, it was introduced along with Castform and was Castform's signature move. Since then, a number of other Pokémon have become able to learn Weather Ball, but Castform remains the only Pokémon able to learn it by leveling up, without needing the services of a move relearner.

Whenever there is a weather condition present, Weather Ball's base power will double to 100. Weather Ball's type also changes during most weather conditions.

Because of its Ability, Castform has a unique synergy with Weather Ball that no other Pokémon that can learn Weather Ball has. In intense sunlight, rain, or hail, Castform will always get STAB thanks to its Ability.

So i think this should help
