Question about pronouns

For some reason I've become interested in Japanese pronouns. Anyways, I'm confused about "atai". Some websites I've come across say it's cute and only used by very young girls, but some say it's colloquial and "rough". Which is it?

And is there an informal pronoun that females use that isn't "cute"?
 
It's subject to interpretation and intonation. atashi and watashi are common. Note, for example, Haruka says watashi and Musashi says atashi.
