Question about Soft-resetting for a Shiny Starter

I really want to get a shiny Charmander (and eventually a Charizard), so I've been soft-resetting my LeafGreen game in an attempt to get one without using Action Replay.

What I've been doing is accepting the Charmander from Oak, naming it, waiting for my rival to pick up his Squirtle, and then checking Charmander's stats to see if it was shiny. Doing that gets a little aggrevating and time-consuming, because it's the same thing over and over.

I was wondering if you can tell whether or not the Charmander is shiny from the little window that pops up with its' picture when you first go up to the ball and hit A. Or do I have to go through the whole process until I can check it's stats?

And if you're able to see if it's shiny before accepting it, does that apply to D/P and R/S/E as well?

No you can not see if it is a shiny in the picture. Sorry. This is also true for R/S/E too. I dont know about D/P but I would assume so.

Welcome

It takes a long time me and my friend figured once that if some one soft reset for 48 hours nonstop you would have one. He tried it but couldnt do it that many times I doubt even if he had he would have got one anyway. But still Good luck with it.
