I really want to get a shiny Charmander (and eventually a Charizard), so I've been soft-resetting my LeafGreen game in an attempt to get one without using Action Replay.
What I've been doing is accepting the Charmander from Oak, naming it, waiting for my rival to pick up his Squirtle, and then checking Charmander's stats to see if it was shiny. Doing that gets a little aggrevating and time-consuming, because it's the same thing over and over.
I was wondering if you can tell whether or not the Charmander is shiny from the little window that pops up with its' picture when you first go up to the ball and hit A. Or do I have to go through the whole process until I can check it's stats?
And if you're able to see if it's shiny before accepting it, does that apply to D/P and R/S/E as well?
