Question about the Intro Cutscene

In the cutscene before the player gets dumped onto Prelude Beach, how is the character able to see their phone if there is no light before Arceus shows up and bathes them in light? Like, if they're in a dark void, how are they able to see at all? Like, they open their eyes and look around like: "Huh? What! Where am I?!"

It could be that it was just dimly lit, I guess? It also could be that they simply had their phone in their hand and it fell out, I guess?

But yeah, I guess that it wouldn't make too much sense if there was no light...

Forgive the double post for this question (Don't want to create a whole new thread, since this pertains to the intro cutscene): What was/is Arceus's motive for sending our character back in time to Hisui? Meeting Pokémon can be done in the present time. Now, if the motive was to fix the Space-Time rift, that is entirely different.

I guess it was part of the plan to close it too. It want you to catch all pokemon, including dialga, palkia and giratina, so, yes, by catching all pokemon in hisui you would close the space/time rift.

In doing so and gathering information about Pokemon and sharing that information with the villagers via the side quests we're helping Hisui, a region that is terrified of Pokemon learn to understand and co-exist with them.

The natives have assembled an entire team of their own for this purpose, however, that fear is still holding them back from reaching their full potential as a civilization. If the mention of Alola's ride Pokemon as having existed this long ago is not an inconsistency then it's an indicator of just how behind Hisui is.

Our character, someone from the future in which humans and Pokemon are symbiotic goes to an extent that is unimaginable to Hisui and thus more effective than their own efforts.

Essentially Arceus needed someone from the Sinnoh to be in which humans and Pokemon are symbiotic to ensure that it comes to be. It's quite an interesting paradox.

At least that is what I have gathered from the observation that the more side quests we complete the more the villagers welcome Pokemon into their lives.

Makes sense. The best way to be comfortable with Pokémon is to interact and learn about them.

Also, Arceus gives you an avatar of itself when you complete the Pokedex, it may not be as a reward, but rather, to help Hisui understand which is the real Almighty Sinnoh and help understand Arceus better. The player character is just tested to show if he/she is really worthy of having the power of the Almighty Sinnoh, the power taking the form of a physical avatar Arceus creates of itself. Getting Dialga and Palkia to become their Origin forms also help in this regard as they used to look like Arceus.

I want to add to this because I've been Old Verse hunting and Old Verse 12 made a rather mindblowing statement:
"Here where the ancient Sinnoh people were born I will spend eternity until the one with the mission appears."
I think this author legit prophesied our coming to Hisui. We are "the one with the mission" aren't we?

There's a theory floating around that Cogita is the author of the old verses and she's immortal/has increased longevity. I don't buy it personally, I think the author was speaking in poetic manner here, and one of Cogita's lines seems to imply that these are things passed down to her instead of things that she came to learn on her own.

I've just finished the main plot so have only now been able to read this post.

Spoiler: Final Chapter Plot

I concur that the theory that Cogita is the author of the old verses and is immortal is quite far-reaching (even farther-reaching than the Youtuber who thought she was an elder version of another modern times character who ended up stranded in the past; Cynthia) and it does not align with her dialogue, however her almost direct reference to verse 12's prophecy does suggest that she's descended from the author.

Verse 5 talks about their people, the original Celestica people disappearing but that must have been an exaggeration for them to have been around to record that. It also talks about a new society showing up and claiming the ruins of their villages and their name. A small number of them including the author were probably still around but forced to incorporate themselves into the interlopers' society to survive.

I doubt the author's declaration to spend eternity waiting for "the one with the mission" was meant in the literal sense but in fact might be what Cogita meant when she revealed her duty to "the lost one". I think the author used artistic wording to declare that the wait would be passed down through their line until it reached the one who would meet us which turned out to be Cogita.

EDIT: The post-game might have just told me off here. Cogita reveals that she is descended from the Sinnoh people and the author of the verses mentions them separately from their people.
