Question the Popular Responses!

X sucks because it has too many weaknesses/X rocks because it has too many advantages

Type Advantages aren't everything, for example if it was you wouldn't be able to beat Dewford with Poochyena(it's possible).Everything depends on your strategy. The comment will only be true if you think as in in-game trainer HAX HAX HAX ATTACK!(Guilty)

Sableye/Spiritomb/Eeletrik/Eelektross rocks because they aren't weak to any type

Unless you are hacking Wonder Guard,it won't be useful, plus Eeletrik/Eelektross will be weak to ground. You have to check the whole game Moveset + Stats + blah blah to say ts awesome(or you can be like me, Helpful + Cute + High Leveled = Rocking

This. How many times I've heard that Eelektross is the greatest,no weaknesses etc. In real life Eelektross loses in two turns:Gravity-Earthquake.

X Pokémon doesn't need an pre/evolution! Giving it one is pointless!

Despite what people think, everything Game Freak does has some form of logical reasoning after it. Except 2x Ground immune Rotom-S, that's just stupid.

Pre-evos are given to Pokémon popular with the kids. Except for maybe Mantine, I think that's just to give them a reason not to sprite the Remoraid under its wing. Kids like Chimecho, so they made Chingling. Yes. It is still a mediocre Pokémon; however, cute things make Nintendo money, and cuter versions of cute things will make Nintendo even more money. It also gives a way to get more moves, like Pichu's Nasty Plot, without giving the Pokémon more moves in its base/evolved form. So they exist to make Nintendo money and troll anyone who wants to use their Pokémon competitively.

Evos on the other hand are given to improve on previously poor Pokémon. People often call things like Ambipom unnecessary, but if Aipomn didn't get an evo, it'd still be bottom tier trash that couldn't do anything outside of look cute. Seriously, Aipom has a ridiculously low catch rate of 45, two useless abilities, and stats lower that Furret and Raticate, two "bottom tier trash" Pokémon; how is that not in need of an evolution? Something as rare as Tauros should at least be as good as Tauros. If it's an aesthetics thing, that's a matter of opinion. I don't think there's a problem with its design.

Not to say that there isn't such a thing as a pointless evo though. Dusknoir is pretty pointless unless you want a Trick Room attacker or something. Then again, Dusclops is an ugly bastard who threw out everything reaper-esque about Duskull to look like Grimace's one-eyed emo cousin. So there's an example of giving a Pokémon an evo mainly to improve aesthetics, I guess.

"I hate caves because they spam Zubat/Geodudes"

Most people that say that commit the mistake of running, running increases the appearance rate,so running in an increased area is suicide, but if you don't like them just use (Max)Repels or don't go there.

"huh,I hate HMs they just seem pointless"

Pokemon is a RPG,so stuff like that was required, then "they can't be forgotten" that's to prevent you getting stuck in a place you'll need Surf/Fly/Cut/Strength/Dive/Rock Smash or whatever

Gen 3 sux cuz of the block between 2 and 3

So? Start fresh-isn't that what the developers wanted to do at the time? I mentioned this before, but Gen I Pokes would float around the competitive field like nobody's business because of Fissure being a TM in Gen 1. Now you get Mind Reader/Fissure Articuno spamming it up. Put it this way- don't you ever get tired of the same old Charizard? Plus, the game developers didn't have the technology to connect the GBC to the GBA yet. Don't blame them for that. That's like blaming the weatherman for a rainy day.

Ugh i get annoyed with people saying "you are a noob because you use legendaries blah blah blah"... An anime example would be Tobias. Obviously you are able to catch some awesome legendaries (assuming you are not hacking master balls) you must be a pretty decent trainer since they are NOT easy to catch.

The problem with this is, while the world is mostly water, the vast majority of us spend most of our lives on land. There is also the fact that if you were to spend that much time in the sea you would get more variety than tentacool/wingull/pelipper over and over.

I do think the variety of pokemon they have for surfing is lackluster, but I'd rather have what Hoenn has and have a bunch of water routes than what Isshu has with no water routes of consequence.

It's proportional to the speed at which you travel, so the distance you travel is the same, so it doesn't really matter.

There are other ways of preventing players from moving forward than HMs. They also waste a spot on your pokemon's movepool. Furthermore, you don't need to forget them if you have them. Most HMs are inherent abilities that most pokemon should know already.

Just because you catch a legendary doesn't mean you're a good trainer. You can stand up in front of Rayquaza with a team of Lv 2 rattatas and six ultra balls and catch that thing eventually, with enough soft resets.

If you battled a Legendary Pokemon honestly with 6 level-2 Rattata and won, THEN you'd be an exceptional trainer. ._. Some people DO work hard to catch a legendary Pokemon, instead of just lobbing Master Balls, or random ones hoping they'll get lucky after the 350,000 try.

Not really you just have to use the FEAR strategy

Not really. FEAR (as X8D said)

Most people work hard to catch legendary pokemon, but that doesn't make them an exceptional trainer. Almost everyone has their stories about catching legendaries.

Grass Pokemon have too many weaknesses, and are useless in competitive battle

Yes, alot of people I've seen said that!
While grass types have a disadvantage, they have access and immunity to Leech Seed, a very annoying condition, plus have many status and healing moves like Synthesis, Spore, Toxic, and the like. And, of course, never forget the legends of Breloom and Roserade that don't let the name of grass types be used in vain.
