Questions concerning Platinum/Heartgold compatibility

Hi guys, I have the original DS with it I have Pokemon Diamond, Platinum, and Heartgold. My brother used to play Pokemon with me along time ago he stopped after Firered tho. Recently hes been wanting to play again so iv been letting him use my DS and i deleted my saved data on Platinum and basicly gave that game to him. (I only had 8 badges and never beat the elite 4, reason i didnt do this to diamond was because i had around 360 pokemon tons of shiny's and alot of ev trained pokemon)

Anyway im going to buy him a used ds or dslite for him, i was wondering tho can we battle eachother when hes on platinum and im on heartgold ? Also if he starts a new game on platinum and saves it on my DS then puts the game in the new DS im going to buy him he wont have to start all over again will he ? I heared the games register themselves to that ds and only that one..

1. Yes. Any Gen. IV game can battle any other Gen. IV game.
2. No. Everything saves onto the game card. Not the DS.

Thanks for the answers.. Are you sure about the Saved game thing ? What about the online part like the GTS card and stuff you get ? You dont need the same DS right ?

As for that thread.. i dont care.. I asked in there and my answer got flooded by people just chatting and got lost. I asked like 2 days ago and now my question is like 9 pages back..

Yeah, sometimes questions get passed over in the SQSA thread. Still, rules are rules. Next time just post it again.

Anyways, the save files are saved to the game cartridge, not the DS. It's only the WiFi settings that are synced between the DS and the game cart. I'm not sure, but I'm fairly certain that you can just reset the WiFi settings for the cart when you move it to a new DS.

mmm, i hope you can because my brother had to restart in plat because i forogt you had to delete the saved game on the main menu lol.. I thought you could just overwrite it like the older games.. So he got to level 20 for nothing.. If he has to reset again because of the wifi thing that will suck..

Does anyone know for sure ?
