Oh my...where do I even start?

I've been drawing for literally as long as I can remember. It's always been a beloved hobby of mine, and as such I've, well, made a lot of pictures over time. In this thread, I plan to show you all some of my many, many drawings - most likely I will mainly focus on the newer ones of course, because understandably the best looking pictures are almost always the most recent ones, when it comes to an artist. On a final note, unless stated otherwise, all art I show in this thread is original, not fanart. 90% of what I draw are my own original characters and creations.

*takes a deep breath*

Okay, here I go. I hope you all like my work. Let's get started.

Ah, this is a good picture to start with. This is Raibys! He is one of my best and most beloved original characters of mine. I made him nearly 5 years ago, and though his design has changed a lot over the years, he has always remained one of my dearest creations. That's why I picked him as my username, you know.

First thing's first. Before any of you ask, no, Raibys is NOT named after the similarly-spelled disease "rabies". Raibys' name comes from a fictional language, and means "change" if translated to English. Why would his name mean 'change', you ask? Because one of his main abilities is a limited ability to shapeshift!

....but I'll get more into Raibys' powers and backstory later on. For now, I'll move on to another picture.

Character_Portrait__Lymia_by_manaphy87.jpg

Aww, look at that! It's Raibys' older sister, Lymia! She's another one of my favorite characters that I've made - and I might mention that she has become oddly popular on some of the sites I've shown my art on. I made her about 4 years ago originally, (about a year after I made Raibys) but in my story she's actually 2 years older than him.

This isn't my best picture of her, (not by a longshot) but I wanted to start with the basics for now before I go into the really wowing stuff I have in store for you all later on.

Character_Portrait__Mina_by_manaphy87.jpg

Ah, Mina. She and Raibys equally share the spotlight as the main characters of my story, actually. Mina has a complicated past which I explain over the course of the story. For now though, all I will say is that she wasn't always robotic-looking the way she is now.

As with the others, I plan to explain more about the characters later on. At the moment I just want you all to get a general feel for them rather than me flooding you all with details.

Now....I have a character portrait for nearly each and every one of my characters. (As in, like these 3 pictures, just the character with their name in a fancy font and a white background) That wouldn't be very fun if all I did was show those though, am I right?

Now I am going to show a few of my full-page, fully colored pictures.

Ooh, take a look at this. This is Countdown, one of the many villains from my story. As you can see he looks quite intimidating, if I do say so myself. As with all the others, I will explain more about him later on.

Ender_the_Wicked_by_manaphy87.jpg

...Yeah, it's pretty easy to tell that this is another one of the bad guys. This is Ender, a crazed, evil soul who essentially traded his body - and his sanity for that matter, for power.

Some of you might be noticing a pattern here. Why are all the enemies so far robotic-looking? You'll see later on.

Last but not least, I'll show you a somewhat calm picture of Raibys looking out over an ocean cliff.

I hope you all like what you see so far. I plan to update this thread on a regular basis - I have a LOT of art to show, and if you're interested I also have more details regarding my universe and story to discuss.

I LOVE it, very original characters and concepts, and great artistic talent as well.
I would like to know more about the characters though, do tell.

I love all of them really, and would be interested in reading your comic if you have a full comic. The Style kind of reminds me of Osamu Tezuka, and I like that (And surprisingly, it isn't an artstyle I see so often). (It reminds me also in both Story and Artstyle as it is cute characters with a simple fore-story but with lots more details and complexities in the background)

Oye...I just joined this place and I'm already going to be missing for 3 days due to a trip somewhere in real life. ._.;

Until I come home late this Sunday night, this will the last update to my thread.

Okay, right now I will explain the origins of Raibys and Lymia.

In the story, 2 years before the present day, Lymia was genetically created, aboard a massive laboratory in space known as I-Tech:

I_Tech_Biotechnologies_by_manaphy87.jpg

This picture is a little outdated, and is quite flawed, I know. At the moment it's the only picture of I-Tech I have. Anyway though, Lymia was born with a few special gifts. She is immune to poison and disease of any kind, and is, as far as the scientists know, immortal as far as old age goes.

As an additional detail, Lymia was actually born already able to do things such as walk and talk; since she was genetically created, she was actually born as an adult, pretty much.

Her main talents, however, come from a mysterious white stone the scientists obtained from space, which they essentially built into Lymia. The stone inside her body gives her strange powers such as teleportation, invisibility, and, most importantly, the ability to use light and electric elemental attacks.

(a slightly less recent picture of Lymia, but it still looks pretty good. Also, it shows her wearing a necklace she sometimes, but not always, wears.)

Lymia acts cheerful, playful, and a bit childish, but unknown to most people she's also a very observant person, noticing things that people wouldn't think she would, if they were judging from her behavior alone. She is very kind, and would do literally anything for those she loves - even if it would mean putting herself in danger.

Bashful_Little_Chromatoid_by_manaphy87.jpg

(again, this one is a bit less recent than the previous one, but it's still worth showing)

Now, Here is Raibys. Using 50% of Lymia's original DNA, the scientists at I-Tech began work on a new project soon after creating Lymia - her "brother" Raibys.

Raibys has most of Lymia's natural abilities, such as immunity to poison and disease, and apparent lack of aging. However, Raibys does not have any stone inside him to give him reality bending powers like Lymia does.

Raibys does have a few new tricks that his big sister doesn't have, however. For instance, Raibys has an incredible trait called regeneration - this means that he is capable of, over time, healing from any wound that doesn't kill him - and he heals faster than most people do. Now, this doesn't mean that you'll see a cut on him closing up right before your eyes right after he gets hurt, but that cut will definitely be gone by the next day. Also, seemingly permanent wounds such as losing a limb, are not so permanent at all for Raibys. If he were to lose an arm, it would grow back in a matter of days.

Secondly, Raibys has a limited "shapeshifting" ability. It works something like this; Raibys has a long, pointed tongue, which works something like a straw. He can use it to drink the blood out of any living thing, and then, using its DNA, he can copy traits of that animal to use to his advantage, such as growing gills to breathe underwater, or strengthened claws to help him in battle.

Trivia: Raibys is incapable of eating solid food. He was designed to feed off of blood, and as far as other food options go, he can only feed off of something if it's a liquid.

Raibys is curious, quick-witted and bright, but extremely shy. He has some confidence issues because of his difficulty in being accepted by others. When he's alone he often spends his time fiddling with machines to find out how they work, or sometimes, dare I say it, drawing. Once you get to know him, he can be a very loyal friend though, and can be very helpful to have around due to his resourcefulness.

---

That's all for now. Once I explain a few more of the characters in-depth, I will start to lay down some of the things about the plot of this story that I'm writing. I hope I've kept you all interested.

Also, in case you haven't noticed from these pictures' URLs, I have a deviantart account, which is called "manaphy87". I also have another one named "Raibys", which I plan to move to, but I would rather wait until my paid-for premium membership on that account wears off first, so I don't waste the time I have left on it.

Been quiet lately, mainly because real life's starting to kick in more, thanks to school starting...

Now, I know you all saw Mina in my previous post, and I said there's more to her I need to reveal, so...

NormalMina2fixed.jpg

Behold, Mina's true form (don't ask me why I drew her sad in this picture, it's just how the image came to mind for some reason)

Mina looked like this 100 years ago. She lived on a planet called Grukainia, with her family, including her brother, Charon:

Charonupdated.jpg

(He is missing his right arm, yes. There is a reason)

However, Mina's city was attacked by some mysterious crimson monster (another thing which will be revealed later), which behaved like it was looking for something. Mina and Charon ran away from it successfully, but were caught later. That monster then took Mina and her brother to a place of absolute darkness, where in a flash of red light, both were turned into robotic slaves called "cybers"

Grapple2.jpg

(This is what Charon looks like as a cyber, and you already saw what Mina looks like as one)

However...something strange happened in the midst of all this. A *white stone* Mina had found by chance some time ago, which she had with her, reacted right as Mina was finishing up being turned into a cyber. The stone cut the process short by sending itself and Mina 100 years into the future! (which means the present day)

Now, though still a cyber, Mina was saved from being put under control. In the present day, the monster and its cybers still exist, as their bodies are metallic, unaging. Mina now seeks to get both her own body and her brother's freedom (and body as well) back, and defeat this evil force once and for all.
