Gaz the Cyndaquil was wandering through the former human-occupied area of Crimson Island, which had now been abandoned, and the buildings plant-ridden, with most of them close to collapse. She was watching the buildings as she walked by, not paying attention to what was in front of her. She bumped into a Raichu that she could've sworn wasn't there a second ago.

"Oh, uh, sorry! I didn't see you there." she said to it.

"I guess I'm moving here. My parents are dead, so I don't have any need to go home. It's easier to stay here, anyway. Do you live here?"

"My parents used to live on these islands when there were humans around, but they moved to the mainland when I was born, so I don't know what it was like around here. The humans went while I was growing up." He absentmindedly ran a paw across the patch of fuzzy, slightly-shorter-than-the-rest fur on his scalp.

"Dad said they used to travel a lot, but they spent most of their time on Lilac Island. Dad's boyfriend said it used to be cold there." He said this as if it were perfectly normal to have a homosexual father.

"It's complicated. He fell in love with Mum while he had amnesia, so he kind of forgot he was gay for a while, which is when they...yeah, that. Then I was born and he got his memory back."

"Yeah. Dad's boyfriend was a Glaceon, and apparently, so was his brother. I wouldn't know- I never met him- but he used to live on Lilac Island too, so it probably was."

He pointed behind him.
"There's one of those things humans used to use to get around. What're they called..? Oh yeah, teleporters. Connects to Lilac."

"It's that simple. But I don't know how they work," Bart said, joining Gaz as they were teleported across the water to the slope of marshland that was Lilac Island.
