Random Wi-Fi Battles

i thought i read somewhere that there would be a feature for random battles like when you race in mario kart, but with all the talk about the friend codes i was wondering if they both happend friend code battles and the random probably not but just wanted some clarification
 
The closest thing to random battles is downloading someone else's team to your game in the Battle Tower - but you fight against that team controlled by the computer just like any other Battle Tower battle.

It's close, but no cigar.

To be honest, I'm happier this way though, after Netbattle I'm glad I can choose who I'm battling with.
