Randomest Dot & Liko Comics

This thread is a collection of Dot & Liko comics by me, Liko and Dot from Pokemon Horizons are 2 main characters in these comics.
The reason the title is 'Randomest' because the comic itself are very random and out of nowhere (ex: Dot as Sans and Liko as Chara) and each comic is oneshot, has no connection to the others.

I was never an artist nor actually try to watch hours of guide video about improving digital arts online. Im mostly a normal yuri liker that has an interest on writing some scenario about 'what if this couple do--' but no one will read a wall of text so i started drawing 2 years ago, mostly when free and when I am hyped, not actually committing 24/7 drawing, but its been 2 years and my art still not improve at all.

The worst thing is I can't even make my own artstyle so my art look soulless, its either because I am not try enough or Im just not meant to be an artist. I skipped the sketch part and go straight into lineart part btw. So my art in these comics are very subpar from my very own opinion.

If you have any suggestion whatever its advice or criticism, whatever its about my writing or my art, feel free to share.

1st Comic: Bad Timeline (Heartbreaking)
An different approached if Liko's team failed the raid at PKMHZ episode 125.
Its been 75 years since then.

Cliffhanger ending but unfortunately I have no intention to continue this unless its become widely known (impossible). Whever Liko succeed her revenge or not is your imagination.

You said you wanted opinions:
I think you could try to see if different colors of the text work better, or maybe some sort of speech bubbles. Blue text on a grey or green background is not very readable.
There is a bunch of guides online about choosing better fonts and colors for the text.
 
Hey, so, can you maybe use different colors? Or, perhaps speech bubbles? Some of this is really hard to read because of the colors you used in the backgrounds, especially the blue text. Really nice art though.

Thanks for the advice, I will try bubbles eventually, the blue text have to stay blue to make match Liko's color.
I was to hurry when texting so they end up unreadable.
 
you don't need to make speech bubbles here, especially that they'd usually take most of the pictures. outlining the text with either black or white (not sure which would be better) will make it pop from the background... provided the software you use to draw allows you to do that without much of a fuss

I love how you drew everything! liked the shading too. and yeah, that's just dark, but that why they call it the bad end hehe

my favorite panel is the one with young!Dot thanking Liko, both what she said and how it's drawn... shame about the next panel though! but at least she died peaceful and happy, with Liko, and she got to thank her before she passed away too! nice to know not even dementia could hurt their friendship
 
Thanks to people suggestion, I somewhat improve the text as I added bubble speech when dialogue and not bubble when its an action.

2nd Comic: What to dress (Heartwarming)

The reason I choose Dot wearing Bridegroom suit on Page 4 and not Bride's because I think... Dot is the Top in the relationship (Liko is bottom) after seeing how she canonically feeling uncomfortable when wearing girly outfit and Uruto mistaken her as a boy when holding hand during their first meet)

As for why Dot not wearing her Nidothing/Gurumin on their date is because the suit will get public attetions and also making Liko faints.
 
it does look better with the speech bubbles! that's even more work on top of the massive comics, so thanks and bigger thanks!

lovely clothes all around, and I love how you drew Dot's hair for the 6th outfit! though I think my favorite clothes are the 2nd hehe

also good work on the hands and feet, I know what a pain those are to draw!

Not sure about the last one since page 7 and page 8 the hands are kinda off and the shading inside the room are my one of my weakness since I literally dont know how to shade the wall without making it look horrible (skipped the shading in page 3,4,8)

And when I writting this I just realize I made Dot use wrong hand on the mouse :silly:

But thanks for the feedback. Working toward the next one and its longer than ever!
 
3rd Comic: Liko VS Dot Part 1 (Heartwarming?)
Since they never battle once in the entire series (Im stop watching Horizons at ep 125 since I want to watch a whole arc in one go much later, I hate the feeling of waiting weekly for the plot to progress. So tell me if im wrong about they never fight), Im curious what if they fight and so this story is here.
Both are somewhat out of character for the sake of making this battle happen.
Will split into 3 parts because its long.

During 30 minutes of preparing, they change their pokemon ability and moves from their canon version to more suitable for battle.
I tried my best to make both smart and not get sweeped easily by another.
No cliffhanger like before but Part 2 will be done much later.

3 couples are too little and 5 couples are too much to shove in a single frame.

I have many favorite couples but only pick these 4 as my top favorite.

Remilia/Sakuya or RemiSaku: This is the fem/fem couple that first introduced me to yuri(s) when I was still a 10th grade in high school, swipe the phone boringly until I found one work of this couple, got curious, click and got addicted. The idea of a mistress has a maid with undying loyalty is really interesting, and Touhou only has a handful of male character make almost all fem/fem canon in this franchise possible. Unfortunately, this couple is overshadowed by Meiling/Sakuya in fanon stuffs which I found no chemistry between them beside the fact that they are both servants. Worst of all, RemiSaku is now considered a pedo ship by some ppl because Remilia look small (she's not) while Sakuya look adult. I didn't draw RemiSaku much because they are very hard to draw and this is the only time I draw them and its ehhh. Still, my top favorite yuri couple.

Pekora/Marine or PekoMari: Also one of my top favorite yuri couple, discovered the ship while I was 12th grade while in Hololive rabbit hole. Watch their stream solely for their interaction (fake Hololive fan, ehe). Unfortunately, they are the real persons behind a 3d model facade and only do yuri-baits stuff to magnet viewers like me as much as I want to avoid thinking this but its the truth, They are real person and probably straight. Despite this, They sure KNOW how to make yuri-baits marketing, went as far as make a song about their marriage and have a fiction daughter together.
I didn't draw PekoMari much for the same reason as RemiSaku, hard to draw and also one more reason that they are real person being and shipping 2 real person is kinda like a weirdo. Again, my top favorite yuri and Im very happy that I draw Pekora look pretty decent in this work. Marine not so much tho.

Negev/Kar98k (no official ship name): If you are an sensitive person, I suggest you to stop reading this nor searching this couple. But please understand that I like this couple NOT BECAUSE OF THAT REASON but because of the bad girl one loves the other so much that she willing to abandon her belief, escaped and live happy together with the other girl she once saw as not equal. I found this work on 2023 and somewhat impressed at the story's boldness, Due to the story left such impact, this couple become my top favorite yuri couple.
However, This couple based solely on a controversial fanon work and not their canon version, their canon version is a part of a harem? gacha game where they never interact with each other. Yuri shipping in an harem game is kinda stupid? ehh.
They are hard to draw (actually, they are the hardest of these 4) but I tried to draw them more often than PekoMari and RemiSaku because I belived I can revive this couple to relevant again (yea Im delusional), though not successfully but doesn't mean Im stop trying. Once I found my artstyle/improve digital skill, I MIGHT try again.

Dot/Liko (their name kinda short so no need for official ship name I guess?): I started watching Horizons in late 2024 because I was bored and many feedbacks show how the pokemon show has improved since Ash's era (I did watched Ash's when I was little but I dont know if Im still remember most of them since they are so longgg and unnecessary forgetful moments). Im actually interested in this anime plot. When I watching Horizons I didn't think about yuri UNTIL that episode where Liko said Dot look good in her uniform during Tera Training Arc I think? That was when I start notice their interaction more often (as well as watch back former episode to see if there was always hints).
So far I kinda like both DotLiko and AnnLiko (Dot has more moments with Liko but Ann straight up confessing Liko that she willing to ride or die with Liko during recent training Arc) but I decide to make comics of DotLiko due to:
-I love the others DotLiko artworks, they are unique and cute and idk how to describe it but in good ways and unfortunately AnnLiko has almost nothing from what I try to search, unless im not search hard enough.
-Dot & Liko has some interesting dynamic as well as more screen time together while Ann and Liko too straight forwards with little moments together (they are roommmates, not even childhood but suddenly Ann being too clingy and protective of Liko??).
-Ann's existence as if they just want to give Liko a rival that Liko will always win.... aka, a hypetool.
In short, Dot and Liko has an actual buildup while Ann and Liko seem like a yuri-bait.
Buttttt if there are significant rising of AnnLiko artworks, I might jump the battleship (yeah, Im admitted Im somewhat a fake DotLiko believer but I hope I get welcomed here.)
Wait, I can just make Liko has a harem insteaddd...

I like all these 4 equally but if I absolutely have to rank when held by a gunpoint, it will goes down to:
4th) PekoMari (they just do yuribaits and not actually interested in each other. Can up to 3rd if They release a new tier of yuribait)
3th) Negev x Kar98k (not canon and this ship's existence based on a single fanon work. Can be down to 4th if PekoMari release a new high of yuribait.)
2nd) DotLiko (I dont know how to explain why they only second place but I guess its because Liko has 'other options'? And Liko will probably have open-ending like Ash to avoid shipwars, meaning any Liko ship will be on the air and fueled by hopium.)
1st) RemiSaku (almost canon and actually has good dynamic)

It wouldnt change anything if Liko decide to keep Hatterene, Hatterene has no move that can one shot the substitute while Gholdengo can one shot her with Make it Rain. Switching to Meowscarada or 1 Hp Armarouge would even goes worse for Liko. Making the outcome the same.

The battle went out too fast? Yes, Im aware of this too. Im sorry if I didn't deliver on the hype, I believed this comic is a flop compared to the first 2 so I had to finish it fast.

This short fight took me a whopping 49 panels and a whole month of drawing continuously (minus 6 days for the birthday art I guess) but the result itself isn't good despite I tried my best. Not to mention the horrible pacing and timing (the time gap between upload each part are so big that the readers <if I had any> wont remember what was the plot again). I tried and now I know that this kind of story isn't for me. I won't do this kind of story again because it burnt me out so much.

As for why I choose Dot winning in a clash between Dot and Liko (without Terapagos) because:
-I like Dot more between the 2 (Biased but atleast Im honest. Which is funny cuz I kinda dislike her at first when I started watching Horizons because I thought she is a Tsundere <my least of the least favorite character trope> but eventually realized she is not and her character grew on me.)
-Im not claiming Liko needs Terapagos and she is actually a decent trainer without them but in her show, major of her wins are from her Terapagos. Liko's most impressive win without Terapagos is.... Onyx.
-Liko's equal rival is Onyx while Dot's equal rival is Agate. And the show hinting Onyx and Sango are on the weaker Admin while Agate on the stronger Admin. Using silly chain scaling I have:
Agate >= Onyx
Liko had a hard time to win against Onyx meaning Liko => Onyx
Dot had a hard time to win against Agate meaning Dot => Agate
Meaning Dot >= Liko
Of course this whole discussion is out of the window cuz Liko can just sweep Dot's team with Terapagos.

I need to recover from this burn out so It gonna be long before I make another comic again. However, my desire for DotLiko content still as strong as ever. DotLiko 4ever!
