OOC: So this is the startup. Yeah. Students will be on the boat headed to the school, teachers will be gathered in the main stadium preparing for the first years.

IC:

The sun was shining and it was a warm, gorgeous day at Hoenn's ranger school. Some of the upperclassmen had already arrived and in fact many of them had already been given various assignments and tasks all over the world so the islands were mostly quiet.

The permanent professors, along with some of the guest rangers who would be giving lectures and lessons from time to time, were assembled in a large open air meeting hall where the first years would soon be arriving. The head ranger in charge of the academy, a large muscular man by the name of Larmond, looked out at the empty chairs in front of him. He was waiting for the students, as well as two of the professors, who were to arrive any moment.

"I'm actually a little surprised you are doing this." Ranger Jack Walker, dressed in his uniform was walking with one of the other professors. However unlike most of the faculty, the other man was not a ranger. He was instead wearing a white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up, a light gray waistcoat and a pair of black slacks. A large diamond watch accentuated the look.

"I'm a man of my word Jackie." James Dalton told his friend and now fellow faculty member with an easy going smile. The two of them had been friends since childhood, having grown up together in Lilycove.

"Of course you are James." Jack said with a smile, running a hand through his light blond hair. "We are happy you're teaching. It's not often the Rangers have a battler with your pedigree teaching classes." He said quietly as they both reached the hall. They walked up to the other professors, who were quietly chatting among themselves.

"After all this time you're still running late." The head ranger, a powerfully built man with chocolate brown skin and a shaved head said to Jack before a booming laugh escaped his lips. "And James Dalton, it's nice to meet you in person." James smiled and took the head ranger's offered hand. "Victor Larmond, head ranger and the headmaster of this academy."

"Pleasure." James replied.

"And the rest of your coworkers. Miss Daphne Rose, Mr. Kuro Wolf, Ms. Luna Galaxia, Mr. Alex Damon and Ms. Cressida Rei." Victor introduced the rest of the faculty in turn and James greeted them with a wave and a smile.

The first year students all found themselves on a large ferry, which was approaching the islands that held the academy and all of the buildings, fields and other features which made the school the premier breeding ground for Rangers. The students, if they were on the upper deck of the vessel (and cared to look) could see the large harbor as well as a few of the larger buildings (as well as the various training fields).

Sitting on the top deck of the boat, a young woman was reading a book, a pair of headphones covering her ears.

On the other side of the deck, a young man was napping, catching up on some sleep before they got to the academy.

"Oh wow that looks so cool!" Blake exclaimed in shock and excitement as he saw the island come into view. After spending so long on the ferry he was glad that they were finally about to arrive at the ranger school. He looked at the sea for a moment, a pensive expression crossing his face as he looked at the rushing waters before grabbing a hold of the rails. "So I'm finally here huh," he pointed out before looking around, a nervous expression on his face. "I wonder...how many people will be taller than me here."

***

Alex looked at all of the teachers that had gathered including Larmond and Jack, a look of curiosity in his face before he turned to look towards James. "It's a pleasure to meet you James," he greeted politely before stretching his hand out towards the man.

Ian quietly sat in a nearby bench on the upper deck, watching the scenery pass by him. With a sigh, he leaned forwards onto his knees and continued to stare off into the distance. He wasn't exactly happy with going to a new school; he was actually quite annoyed. Once he showed minor interest in becoming a ranger, he was shipped off to school. Literally. Ian decided to remain quiet and hoped that nobody would bother him. Pulling out a pair of ear buds which were plugged into nothing, he placed them in his ears and began to pretend to listen to music.

To answer Blake's question, as if an act of Murphy's Law, a female walked to his left side, put a foot on one of the rails, and sighed. "Dunno. It is a weird world out there..." The female said.

The female in question is none other than Dante "Titania" Villalobos, a female trainer who managed to get into the top 5 positions of all the Pokemon League championship tournaments. She got her nickname from both her tenacity and her height, towering above many humans she had seen thus far at 6'03". She was even eye-level with Crasher Wake of Pastoria City in Sinnoh, and Wulfric of Snowbelle City in Kalos.

"Name's Dante." She said, turning her head to Blake's direction, a small smile on her lips.

Jack was asleep on a hammock right next to Blake and Dante, snoring loudly. He had been in such a state more or less since he got on. He had gotten up once to use the restroom, but other than that, nobody had even seen him open his eyes since he laid down.

"Bok! Arbok!" His Arbok, Pretzel, said. The Pokemon seemed to know that it would be bad if her trainer slept through this, and was slithering around frantically, nudging him with her head. Jack simply keep snoring, his straw hat tilted to cover his eyes.

"Welcome James," a male spoke with an accent that sounds just like our worlds Romanian accent. The male wasn't the tallest at 5'9'' with silky black hair that fell just past his shoulders, and perfectly covered his right eye and ear, showing only his left golden amber eye. He wore a normal ranger outfit (minus the headband). "I'm Kuro and if you need any help then feel free to ask. I've been teaching for quite a few years now," he told him. "That goes for you too," he nodded towards a young woman.

The woman stood at average height for her age with mocha skin and long black hair that reached to her waist. Her hair was in a braid showing off her chocolate eyes and like Kuro she wore a normal ranger uniform. (minus the headband) "Guess it's obvious that this is my first year as well. I look forward to working with all of you," she greeted them with a smile.

Bela Wolf smiled as she looked at all the cute little boys on the ship. They were absolutely adorable and she knew she was going to have fun. Bela walked out onto the deck wearing a simple maroon short sleeved shirt that reached mid thigh, and blue jeans tucked into some simple ankle boots without heels. At her side was her lopunny looking beautiful. Overhearing Blake she smirked and walked over to him. "Not as cool as you I bet," she told him giving a charming smile.

"Wow! It's so beautiful!" Trudi's eyes were glimmering from the view of the ocean as the ferry approached the island. "Look, Plusle! A Flock of Wingull and Pelipper!" she says, as the flock flew over the ferry. "Big Brother! it's better than I thought it would be!" she said to Austin, who was looking toward the island. "Remember Trudi, we're here to study as Pokemon Rangers. It's not going to be all fun and games. Are you sure you're up for it?"

"Of course I am!" she said as she begins celebrating. She doesn't look where she's going and hits her face on a wall. "Trudi! Are you okay!" Austin jumped in shock. He rushed toward her. Plusle jumps off of her shoulder and runs in front of her to see if she was hurt. Minun jumps from Austin's shoulder and follows. "Ow. I'm okay, it doesn't hurt." Trudi chuckled. Austin sighed. "Considering how many times you hit your face, I'm not surprised it doesn't hurt." he then helps her up.

"Mi Mi!" Minun points to Trudi's nose. "Oh no! you're bleeding!" Austin pulls out a handkerchief and gives it to her. "What am I going to do with you, Trudi?" Plusle and Minun sigh and then look at the ocean, where they see a Wailord jumping out of the water. "Look." Austin points to the Wailord. "Wow! that was cool!" says Trudi, still holding the handkerchief to her nose. "I'm even more excited! I can't wait!" She jumps and then trips, stumbling toward the rail. Austin grabs hold of her waist while Plusle and Minun grab on to her foot. She is stopped at the rail and was able to see the bottom of the ferry, until the other three pull her back. "That was a close one." Trudi exclaimed. Austin looks at her, preparing himself for the many kinds of trouble she might get into on the island. Plusle and Minun climb all the way to Austin's shoulders. The three then sigh simultaneously.

Cress' long, dark blonde hair was tied up in a French braid. The Ranger was still in her outfit, a common sight upon her wiry frame. She nodded to the other men and women who had agreed to teach at the Ranger school. Cress wondered who her students would be like.

Glancing over at her Typhlosion, Jazzy yawned and decided to nap until the boat docked.

"Hm?" Blake raised his head once he noticed someone addressing him. He looked up at Dante, noticing the difference in height that stood between the two of them. He let out a small and silent sob before turning towards the sea. "I should've shut up," he pointed out with a defeated tone as he turned to look at Bela. After he had let out another sob and looked at the sea again upon realizing she was also taller than him he finally turned around. "I'm not really cool or anything," he replied with a laugh before looking up at Dante as well. "I'm Blake, sorry for my reaction it's just...habit really."

Richard sat in a small dining area on the ship, his head down on the table as he slept. He had a small plate of food on the table next to him, untouched, as he continued napping. He had been so excited over the past week that he hadn't slept, and the exhaustion had finally caught up with him.

On Richards shoulder sat a Ninjask, Ace. The bug type sighed in annoyance. This was no time for sleeping; even as a pokemon he knew that. He lightly tapped Richard's head in an attempt to wake him up, but to no avail. Richard simply turned his head, muttering in his sleep.

"zzzzzzzz... I'm sorry ma'am... free bagels just happened... zzzzzzzzzzz"

Richard snored slightly, and Ace huffed in irritation. The Ninjask poked Richard's head once more, an indignant expression on his face. Richard, again, kept snoring.

"zzzz.... gotta get me... some of them grumble cakes.... zzzz"

The Ninjask was thoroughly fed up at this point. He flew off of Richard's head, landing on the table, directly in front of Richard. With a sharp intake of breath, Ace let of an ear-piercing screech attack, jolting Richard out of his sleep.

"Ahh!" Richard cried as he jumped out of his seat, landing on the floor with a loud THUD. He rubbed his head in pain, looking at Ace with a semi-amused, semi-irritated expression. "You know, there's easier ways to wake a person up."

Ace simply snickered at the boy. Richard got to his feet, and Ace assumed his position once again, perched on Richard's shoulder. The two walked over ot the deck of the ship, looking over at the island as they approached. Today was the day; finally Richard was going to experience first-hand what being a Ranger was all about. He leaned over the railing, taking in the radiant glow of the sun reflecting off the surface of the water. Such beautiful weather on such a great day. It couldn't get any better than this.

Chase sat in a chair by the edge of the deck, watching the waves roll to the side of the ship. Looking ahead, Chase saw that they were approaching the island. He wouldnt dare admit it to anyone, but the approaching island was a beautiful sight.

Just then, something began screeching to Chase's right. Looking over, he saw a Dunsparce trying to wake its trainer up. "Calm down boy, its fine," Chase muttered to his pokemon sitting by his side, Houndoom.

The large dog sat back down, staring at the other trainers. Chase knew that Houndoom was just trying to figure out if any of these others could be trusted. He went back to watching the island, wondering what lied ahead.

@Kantomasta; It's a Ninjask, not a Dunsparce. xD

The Typhlosion nudged awake Jazzy, pawing her chest eagerly. The trainer sat up, and stole a glance at the approaching island. "Eager, Ty?" she chuckled.

"An odd habit to have Blake, to be honest." Dante said, raising a eyebrow. She turned around to see Bela. She then took her foot off of the railing and straightened herself out to her full height, showing that she was taller than even this would-be-titan of a female, if barely. Something in Dante told her to show that she was alpha, and so, she did.

"Dante. Dante Villalobos. 6 time finalist-grade Trainer in the Pokemon League championships, winning the whole show at the Unova Conference two years ago. You?" She introduced then asked, feeling nearly compelled to fight this girl. 'Looks like my time as a Trainer has affected me much more than I thought...' Dante thought grimly.

A young tallish black haired woman smiled as she stared at the ocean, her deep brown eyes stayed fixated at the giant mass of water to say the least. She was whistling a tune while noticing some buildings appearing closer and closer to the ship. Melinda Hill was a very street savvy woman with black hair, brown eyes and of a model build. She was wearing a simple sheer, striped shirt with a regular shirt collar, a button-down front, and long sleeves with buttoned cuffs and slightly dipped hemline in black. She was wearing this along with black jeans and black ankle boots. She hailed from Cianwood Town famous for the fighter Chuck and idolized Karen a lot. There was something about her train of thought that really struck something with Melinda.

Before spending time watching the ocean, Melinda was focusing on meditation and a lot of exercise. She was a fighter in the sense that she will scrap for anything. Anyway Melinda decided to be a ranger based on grandfather, so it was worth giving it a try before going off to be an actress or a model which was something she desired to a certain extent. She continued whistling while staring at the incoming harbour.

Bela watched as Dante tried to show herself as the alpha. This woman was a fool. She scoffed at her before returning her attention to Blake. "I'm Bela. It's lovely to meet you Blake. You know you shouldn't care about height so much. It means nothing. My father is actually a little on the short side...well compared to me," she said thoughtfully. "Anyways what brings you to the academy?

OOC: Damn you @Midorikawa; I had forgotten about 6teen xD

"Wooow that sounds so cool," Blake pointed out, his eyes shining with curisity before he trned back to look towards Bela for a moment. "Well it's just I've always been made fun of for it," he said as he lokoed down at the water for a moment. "But that' s why I came here, I'm going to become a great Ranger so that I can show people that my height doesn't matter."

Bela rolled her eyes as Blake thought Dante was cool. It wasn't that impressive. Plus the fact that she had made a point to tell them meant she was lying or that she was narcissistic about it. Once again ignoring Dante she returned her attention to Blake. "That's a good dream. I'm sure that you'll become an amazing ranger. Honestly it seems like destiny that I chose to come this year to meet you. Underdogs are the best, and I absolutely adore those that are shorter than me," she winked at him.

Blake blushed bit before laughing. "Thanks, thouh I know it´ll be tough," he pointed out before grabbing ahold of one of the pokeballs he was carrying on him. "Oh right I had forgotten," a smile crossed his face as he threw the pokeball down, releasing his Litleo. "Hey Fang, sorry for forgetting about you for abit." The Litleo just looked at Blake before sticking its tongue out and looking around.

Dante barely resist the urge to growl at Bela dismissing her like she was a common Youngster, bristling in annoyance.

'So she's one of those types of peope.' Dante mused in annoyance.

She then noticed that Blake's partner was a Litleo. "What a strong looking little one." Dante said with a warm smile, crouching to look at the Lion Cub Pokémon Blake had named 'Fang'.

Jazzy, followed by her Typhlosion, sauntered over to the three trainers. "What kind of Pokémon is that? I've never seen it before, living in Fortree City all the time." Jasmine inquired out of genuine curiousity, patting Ty on the stomach (since the Pokémon was much taller than her).
