One of my favorite things to do when I'm home from college is to watch all of my Pokemon movies. This includes 1-6, as well as Mewtwo Returns (I really want to add Raikou to my collection... Come on, damn it, get Chronicles over here >_<). This is how I rank them -

1 - Pokemon 2000. Almost by far the best of the lot - and definitely by far if you don't count Mewtwo Returns. The best characters, great music, great animation, great plot, lots of action... AND KISSSHIPPING! >:O Seriously, what is there to *dislike* about this movie, because I haven't found it yet...? (Besides some rather amusing errors, like Melody magically knowing Misty's name.) I even like the short. 10/10.

2 - Mewtwo Returns. Not really a movie proper, but truly superb. Mewtwo alone almost sells this movie, but Domino and Giovanni give a lot of personality to it as well. Has a lot of the movie 1 tracks, which are great too. Some slow parts and a few contrivances keep this below 2000, though. 9/10.

3 - Mewtwo Strikes Back. Ah, the original, and still one of the best. Plenty of action and great music (<3 Billy Crawford's opening), Mewtwo is great as always, and it even has a very interesting and thought-provoking plot. The short is pretty good too. However, the ending is frighteningly corny. 8.5/10.

4 - Pokemon Heroes. Jump a bit ahead to the future for this one. And you can definitely tell - the animation is superb. The music is good - there are some neat vocal tracks here. The characters are great (Annie and Oakley!), and the ending is incredible. Lots of great Ash shots too. <3 Heh heh... Also, the short sucks. 8/10.

5 - Destiny Deoxys. Like the above, lots of great animation here. However, this one isn't really in the same league as the above 4 - Deoxys is interesting, but there isn't much to the rest of the characters. The plot is a bit corny and such, but at least there are some goo action scenes. Don't really remember the music much. 7/10.

6 - Jirachi Wishmaker. SLOW. VERY slow. It wraps up to a superb ending, but it takes so long to get there. Good characters, though. And the short is genius. 7/10.

7 - Celebi: A Timeless Encounter. Like the above, starts slow, then gets to a great ending... but it's even slower, and the very end is kind of weird and pointless (why did we need to see the whole Celebi-from-the-past/future bit? Anyone?). The music isn't that great, and the short is average. 6/10.

8 - Spell of the Unown. Actually, I truly didn't like this movie before, but when I watched it again, I felt a better appreciation for it. Doesn't change the fact that Molly's an annoying bitch, though. A little less concentration on pretty special effects and a bit more work on the plot might have helped. Good music, though, especially during the Brock/Molly and Misty/Molly battles. As above, the short is average. 5.5/10.

From what I can tell, I'm hoping Movie 8 will be in the Heroes/MSB area.

1st - Mewtwo Strikes Back
2nd - Jirachi: Wish Maker
3rd - Pokemon: The Movie 2000
4th - Spell of the Unown
5th - Pokemon 4Ever
6th - Destiny Deoxys
7th - Pokemon Heroes

Sorry for not listing reasons. I doubt I'd be able to explain them well. Just take in account that their order deals with animation, plot, Pokemon characters, Pokemon themselves, nostalgia, and the shorts.

1)Spell of the Unown. Everything about the movie just wowed me. The animation was at its best, the CGI was put to good use, and I just liked it overall.
2)Mewtwo Strikes Back. It sends a nice message, has an interesting story, and was the only Pokemon movie I ever got to see in theatres.
3)Jirachi:Wish Maker! A movie focused on someone who is not Ash? GASP! Max getting the spotlight was a pleasent surprise. Butler fufilled the role of "villian" nicely, having realistic motiviations behind his actions.
4)Heroes:Latios and Latias. This was a sweet movie, but it seemed to drag on at parts.
5)The Power Of One. Two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen..yeah, the dub "theme" of the movie didn't have the best backing behind it. That aside...Jiri wasn't that great of a villian(to be more precise, he didn't DO much of anything.), the God Birds were uninspiring(Articuno and Moltres did next to nothing, Zapdos got about 15 minutes of standing on a shrine; the rest was just firing off Ice Beam/Flamethrower/Thunderbolt.), Lugia was somewhat interesting, the fight between the birds wasn't that well done("fire your single attack at them and hope it hits!" sums it up), the characters weren't that interesting, and the legend was only slightly attention-grabbing after being repeated 5 times. IT also severely lacked in the "story" department. "Ash winds up on island, is selected for island festival role, goes out to collect three objects, finds out that he's the one who can save the world using said objects, collects all three objects, saves the world." Not that great of a story, eh? It might work if it was for a video game, but not for a movie...

Imagine a HUGE gap here! Everything below this point falls under the "meh...that was a waste of time." catagory.

6)Celebi:Voice of the Forest. This movie never really cliked for me...Viscous scores bonus points for being a truely EVIL villian, but the movie can't be saved with just that. The featured legends weren't interesting in the slightest. The setting was a poor choice - we've seen 8 bazilion forests in the main show already! The characters didn't grab my interest either.
7)Destiny Deoxys. Plot? Not check. Interesting characters? Half a check(Tooi was mildly interesting, if only due to his fear of Pokemon). Interesting Legendary Pokemon? Not check(Rayquaza didn't grab my interest at all, and neither did Deoxys). Abundance of useless, cute, annoying Pokemon? Check.

1. Jirachi Wish Maker - very touching plot, great animation and ending.
2. Celebi: Voice of the Forest - another very touching plot, great animation and an ending. This one's a toss up between Jirachi for the #1 spot.
3. Power of One: Moves at the best pace of the whole series; the battle was great.
4. Mew to Hadou no Yuusha Rukario: Rukario was mildly interesting as was the setting.
5. Destiny Deoxys: Very entertaining concept of Deoxys, but everything else was pretty blah.
6. Spell of the Unown: Molly was cool, but I hated the fantasy setting of the movie.
7. Mewtwo Strikes Back: I like this one a lot, but it doesn't excel at having any great characters or plot.
8. Heroes: I absolutely hated this movie. It was slow, boring and I find it to be overrated.

Tied for first:
1. Mew-to hadō-no yūsha: Lucario (M8-ja) [The only movie I've ever seen in a theatre, and actually wish to rewatch.]
1. Mizu-no miyako-no mamorigami: Latios-to Latias (M5-ja) [These two are similar in a few ways.]
3. Nanayo-no negai-boshi: Jirachi / Jirachi: Wishmaker (M6)
4. Mewtwo: ware-wa koko-ni ari! / Mewtwo Returns
5. Mewtwo-no gyakushū (M1-ja) [Mewtwo is always an interesting character.]
6. Raikou: Inazuchi-no densetsu [Bashō is also an interesting character.]
7. Kesshōtō-no teiō: Entei / Spell of the Unown (M3)
7. Pokémon 4Ever (M4-en)
9. Power of One (M2-en) [this was just plain boring]
10. Rekkū-no hōmonsha: Deoxys (M7-ja) [I have to drag myself to rewatch this.]
10. Mewtwo Strikes Back (M1-en)

In the UK, we just got Heroes last month, so I can't vote for the AG movies. They look good, though, so I hope they hurry up with Jirachi Wish Maker!

1. Pokémon 2000 - What can I say except that it is a classic movie! It is also the best of the three soundtracks.
2. Mewtwo Strikes Back - Not as good as the second movie, but still really well done! They went a bit heavy on the morals, but the battle of the clones was really well done.
3. Legend of Thunder - If you aren't bothered by the changes in voices, names, and genders, this is honestly really good!
4. Spell of the Unown - This was a nice movie. I liked Molly, and especially her battles with Brock and Misty. A lot of the Pokémon she used wereamong my favourites, so it was nice to see them in action. And it has the best opening!
5. Mewtwo Returns - The Johto sequal was really good...but where was Mew?!?
6. Pokémon 4Ever - It introduced Shadow Pokémon to the animé, and Sammy was a good character, (and gave some interesting backstory.) But it didn't particulary wow me.
7. Pokémon Heroes - The plot was built up nicely, but then it completely fell apart once Ash reached the museum! Brock and Misty's roles seemed just tacked on to give them something to do! And the 3D running sections seemed pointless. At one point, you see Ash emerge from a passageway in 2D, a second after it looks different in 3D. It does gain points for the opening, though.

Am I the only one who thought LoT honestly wasn't that good? The best things about it, to me, were Bashou and Buson, Jun'ichi, and getting to complain about how wildly OOC Eusine was. I hated Kenta and Marina, Kudo was useless (name ONE THING that man did), we had a Jenny but she did nothing, and the plot seemed like an ordinary episode. And Shiranui was great but severely underused. From the way everyone talked him up, I expected him to have more than six lines.

Well you were on the "Legend of Thunder" threads when the dub aired! Clerly, people agree with that!

But I think it was good, if you sit back to actually enjoy it!

1) Mizu no Miyako no Mamorigami (5)
2) Revelation Lugia (2)
3) Nanayo no Negai Boshi (6)
4) Mewtwo Returns
5) Lord of the Unknown Tower (3)
6) Mewtwo Strikes Back (1)
7) Celebi: A Timeless Adventure (4)
8) Rekkuu no Houmonsha (7)

1) Pokemon 2000. Really, I was what, 15 when this movie came out? (Maybe 14) I drug my cousins to see it and absolutely rolled through the thing. I can't believe I actually cried when they fell into the water. TR! This one reins king in my book of Rocketshippy moments in a movie.
2) Mewtwo Returns. I saw it for the first time in my life a week ago. Hilarious. I didn't like Domino. I know some others do, and I don't understand it. But others don't understand the love for the losers. So it's all even.
3) Mewtwo vs. Mew. It's the original. Bloopers ahoy. Ash is at his all time, well, Ashyness. The music was incredible. I actually wanted the symphonic soundtrack and my parents bought me the pop one. Still, lol I like that too.
4) Celebi: Timeless Adventure. Not gonna lie, I fast forward(ed?) to TR parts. I liked Vicious. I liked everything except how Prof. Oak travels through time like it's easy. I'm sure they explained it, but I didn't have the time, nor the interest.
5) Jirachi: Wish Maker. It was VERY reminiscence of Princess Mononoke in the sense that in the end a giant monster that sucks life out of everything is going psycho and they had to race against time to save the world. (Please note: PRINCESS MONONOKE IS SUPERB COMPARED TO THIS... THING.) I watch these movies for TR, so the ending was adorable. I still hate Max more than life itself. And... I rooted for Ash T.T
6) Latios and Latias. Annie and Oakley were cool, although Oakley is not a girl name in my book. One of them owned a giant spider. Not cool. I'm getting tired of Ash always being the one to save the day. I'm tired of the happy "legendary pokemon" rushing to Ash's side like he's an ice cream cone they can just eat up and he won't give them a brain freeze. Come on, be realistic.
7) Spell of the Unown. You see, I don't understand how a legendary pokemon can be a father to a child, especially since Entei should be out watching over the world so he can alert Ho-oh when the world is in harmony. I didn't like the little girl. I didn't like Mrs Ketchum w/ the girl. I like her all mommy like w/ her true son.
8) Destiny Deoxys. By now I want these legendary Pokemon to DIE so at least we can understand when we started w/ 5 and ended up w/ 12, 15 whatever. (Yes I also hate the addition of these new pokemon and worlds. As if they've just been discovered.) Why is it always Ash that saves the day? Are there not ANY other good pokemon trainers out there? Cause last time I checked there are thousands of them judging by the show, who all have super big caring hearts and love pokemon like the brothers and sisters they are.

Thur's my reviews. Sorry I really don't like Ash, but you did want reasons. Please don't hate too much.

My movie rankings are as follows:

1. Pokémon the Movie 2000. Only Pokémon movie I saw more than once in its theatrical release. I loved the storyline, the characters, Jiri's airship. It reminded me of something Jules Verne would have invented.
2. Pokémon Heroes. Altoshipping. One of the few times I cried during a film.
3. Pokémon 3: Spell of the Unown. The CG animation in this film was excellent. I loved Molly's character as well; not a real villain in any sense, just a sad, lonely little girl. With unlimited power at her disposal.
4. Mewtwo Returns. How can any self-respecting fan not like a film that includes Mewtwo, Giovanni, and Domino?
5. Mewtwo Strikes Back. Consider for a moment that Mewtwo contemplated two of the oldest questions ever: Why are we here? What is the purpose of life? Now tell me again that this show is just for kids.
6. Pokémon 4Ever. Dumbest dub title ever. I loved the entire ecological theme of the film. The CG evil Celebi creature actually scared my daughter when we saw the film.
7. Jirachi Wish-maker. Only seen once, but I loved the characters of Butler and Diane. A bit like Jiri in the second movie: not an evil megalomaniac, just a person with a goal, however misguided it is.
8. Destiny Deoxys. Probably one of the most action-packed films ever with excellent animation and a decent story. After a little while, though, the overly cute Pokémon (Plusle, Minun, and Munchlax) got on my nerves.

I haven't seen alot...
