Rank graphics

You know, for the graphics, I was kind of thinking more graphics with text...^^;;

Still, putting one of these images on a button together with the name of the rank and/or position (Contributor, Staff, Editor, whatever) could work...

I didn't quite understand what you wanted. On other forums I have seen a number of the same images underneath users' names. The more images, the higher the postcount and/or rank. That's what I assumed you meant.

Yellow is transparency.

That's what I meant - let each group chose an item/icon and then make a rank graphic with it.

They look good.

Though I thought the policy was not to emphasise postcount. Wouldn't having different graphics for postcount levels go completely against it?

These would have nothing to do with postcount, but instead what's on the Forum Leaders page.

Does anyone have any ideas for rank graphics for various staff/contributor positions and/or post levels? I've been considering adding them some time now, and I figured this was as good a time as any.
Or did I not understand the meaning of the term?

...missed that part.

Sorry, it wasn't brought up in previous discussions about them we'd had...

I always thought Pokéballs would make nifty rank graphics, since you have three normal balls just like three levels of registration time (newbie, average member, veteran), one ball to rule 'em all for the highest of the high, and then a bunch of weird types for the odd positions. For some reason, Safari Balls jump to mind for Banned Members. Or maybe Net Balls, since they have the X's all over 'em.

Another would be different kinds of trainers, like Rangers and Breeders and Gym Leaders and Elites and Pokémaniacs... some could be reserved for the Administration staff, I guess, but the normal members could just choose ones they like from a wide variety.

Or, continuing on the same tangent and blatantly basing it off of the Zeal Palace Forums I used to visit, Ranks could be purchased in a Shop system or found randomly upon entering a new page on the forums. The whole system was really cool, and one I'd love to see again somewhere else - people were able to get their own ranks as well as a whole set of equipment, some of which was available in a shop but most of which was found randomly. I always thought it would be really neat to do something Pokémon related with a team of six Pokémon, some of which could be found wild, while some like Porygon which could be purchased with a form of currency. It'd probably be Game Corner Coins in that instance, and instead of getting a bit for posts there could be games run by mods in the Games forum where people can earn them...

...okay, wow, I just went on a huge tangent there. Sorry.

Your first two ideas were implemented by The PokeMasters back in the UBB days. Your post count determined a number of Pokeballs (from 1 to 7) under your name. (8 was mod, 9 was admin, and 10 was Kevin) There was also a associated title. Of course, TPM back then didn't have custom titles as we do, so the effect was a bit more pronounced.

Wouldn't know. Prior to Bulba, the only Pokémon place I ever visited was a quiet little corner of the internet known as the Pokémon Fanfiction board on AOL's Antagonist.
