Rarity of Pokerus

Just wandering.. Is pokerus really that rare? Bulbapedia states the chances of meeting a pokemon with pokerus is 3/65,536.. The chances of meeting shiny is 1/8192..

But when I caught a lvl 50+ pokemon for rng purpose, I got like 30% chance of catching a Pokerus pokemon.. I already have almost 10 originally pokerus pokemons in 3-4days.. While I only meet 2 shinies in 325hrs.. (x.x)
 
I really don't think it's that rare, I've caught... god knows how many Pokémon with Pokérus without even looking. If it is that rare, then I'm just damn lucky.
 
Well I've never got it. Some of my Pokemon have it due to traded Pokes being infected but I've never had it myself
 
Pokerus is rare. My Wurmple got it in Emerald once, and I didn't even know what t'was supposed to be at that time. Never got a Pokerus since then.
 
I got Pokerus only once, when I encountered a wild Gloom in Pearl, but since then I have spread it to almost all of my Pokemon.
 
I've only ever encountered it once in the wild, way back in Crystal. (And it freaked me the hell out because I had no idea what it did.) I've gotten it since then, but only from trades.

Well, Kaguya, you're not wandering anywhere, are you? Just made me lol so I'm pointing this out.

And quite a rate of encountering shinies, I must say. I must have only 2 or sth ever since I started playin'- about 2 yrs.
 
Well, I've encountered pokerus once, and a shiny once, in all the time I've been playing pokemon (I've had nearly every game since Red and Blue) So to me they're both equally rare :p

I've seen it several times under the same circumstance. Haven't seen any shinies in ~487 hours :p
 
I've had Pokerus twice, but that was when I was playing Emerald and using the emulator for that. I haven't gotten it in Pearl at all. But since I'm not into competetive battling that much, it's not so important to me.
 
I've got it once.
Encountered 0 Shiny's in D/P/PT.
Encountered 2 Shiny's in G/S/C

I've only gotten a legit shiny ONCE (R/S/E) and managed to catch Pokerus ONCE (Diamond... yes, I still have it on there.). I did freak out at first when I realized what it was (I thought it was a glitch... XD), but once I learned more about it, I managed to give it to my team and some others I had.

...it does seem like a very rare occurrance in my opinion. I'm not sure how you guys can get it so often, but meh.

Maybe it's because we rng abuse.. I even find it when you caught a Pokerus pokemon, it gives us less taps for the rng.. XD

I'm guessing this is what's happening to you:

You go to catch a level 50+ Pokemon, and your first Pokemon in your party has active Pokerus. Your Pokemon attacks the wild Pokemon(or vice versa, can't remember) thus giving the wild Pokemon Pokerus and, in turn, giving the illusion that you are encountering several Pokemon with Pokerus when you catch it and it has Pokerus.

When you go to catch a Pokemon to find out what seed you hit, you're not doing anything special at all in game that would affect anything. In other words, all you're doing is just catching a Pokemon like everyone else, only you're using it's stats and plugging it into RNG reporter, it's not some special "RNG realm" when you RNG abuse.

I've encountered Pokerus only once and it was while I was EV training, didn't notice it had contracted it until a little while later. It took a while to figure out how many EVs my Pokemon had since the Pokerus messed it up.
