So, I've been getting my hands on some fairly good pokemon lately, through a combination of trades and sheer luck. I don't have many, but I think I have the makings of a solid team. How does it look?
Skarmory@Shed Shell
Impish nature
Keen Eye
EVs: 252 HP / 64 Atk / 176 Def / 16 Spe
-- Brave Bird
-- Whirlwind
-- Spikes/Stealth Rock
-- Roost
A rather standard spiker. I don't know how it will work for a lead, but with Whirlwind, I've got a chance of getting rid of any other setup leads before they can lay down their own setup. Also works as a physical wall later on in the game.
Alakazam@Life Orb/Choice Scarf
Modest nature
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk / 4 Sp. Def / 252 Spe
-- Psychic
-- Calm Mind/Trick
-- Focus Blast
-- Signal Beam
My main special force. I know a lot of people bash Alakazam for it's low HP and Defense, and while those are definitely issues, I think that I can work around them. It's Hidden Power type is Grass, so I can't stick another Hidden Power type on there. Calm Mind + Life Orb = massive damage, especially if I can get one in on the switch (Alakazam should scare plenty of things off). Choice Scarf is another route, since this one is Modest, and if I go that route, Trick becomes handy.
Scizor@Iron Plate/Life Orb
Adamant nature
EVs: 32 HP / 252 Atk / 224 Spe
-- Swords Dance
-- Bullet Punch
-- Brick Break/Superpower
-- Quick Attack
The physical beast. Personally, the Attack and defense drop of Superpower is kinda a turnoff, so Brick Break is a good option. Quick Attack for priority on things that resist Steel and are hit neutrally by the Fighting-type move. Life Orb is only if I go with Choice Scarf on Alakazam.
Heracross@Flame Orb
Jolly nature
Guts
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
-- Pursuit
-- Swords Dance
-- Aerial Ace
-- Megahorn
I really don't know what to do with this guy...basically, a Guts'd revenge killer. Send it in on something that it'll scare out, then surprise them with Pursuit. Swords Dance when I can, Megahorn for STAB, and Aerial Ace to take down things like Breloom.
Vaporeon@Leftovers
Bold nature
EVs: 188 HP / 252 Def / 68 Spe
-- Wish
-- Surf
-- Protect
-- Ice Beam
My special wall. I'm not sure what Hidden Power type it has, but I THINK it's Electric -- in that case, I may just put it over Protect. I almost want to put Baton Pass somewhere on here for some team healing, but I don't know where.
My last slot could go to either of these two:
Absol@Scope Lens
Naughty nature
Super Luck
EVs: 252 Atk / 40 SpA / 216 Spe
-- Sucker Punch
-- Superpower
-- Fire Blast
-- Psycho Cut
I've always wanted to use an Absol, and a mixed set has also always appealed to me. Superpower here is another reason I'm hesitant to put it on Scizor, but Sucker Punch is amazing on Absol, especially if it lands critical. Psycho Cut is for coverage, and Fire Blast is for everything else.
OR
Weavile@Choice Band
Adamant nature
EVs: 40 HP / 252 Atk / 216 Spe
-- Pursuit
-- Night Slash
-- Ice Shard
-- Brick Break
I caught Rakki wild, so I can't get Ice Punch, but MAN was she a lucky catch! Perfect Attack IVs AND Speed IVs of 28 or 29. I'd REALLY like to use her, and I think she'd be best used as either a late-game sweeper or as a Revenge Killer. Personally, since this team has a lot of physical sweepers, I think I'm more in need of a revenge killer. This set is pretty standard.
Comments and critiques welcome. I know I'm a bit heavy on the physical side of things, but other than that, I think this team feels rather solid. Then again, I could be horribly wrong.
