I'm fairly new to competitive battling. I couldn't battle others online until this gen, so I don't have much experience. I do know the ins and outs of making a good team, though, and I thought I'd try my hands at a sun team.

Charizard: charizardite Y. (Special attack with high SpD)
Overheat
Solarbeam
Focus blast
Roost

Houndoom: houndoomite. (Special sweeper)
Flamethrower
Solar beam
Nasty plot
Dark pulse

Helioisk: solar power, life orb. (Special sweeper. Water, ground, and rock check. Special crippling.)
Parabolic charge
Grass knot
Volt switch
Eerie impulse

Trevenant: Harvest, Sitrus berry. (Physical crippler. Stalling)
Phantom force
Will o wisp
Horn leech
Leech seed/curse

Togekiss: super luck, heat rock (mixed wall. Dragon counter)
Dazzling Gleam
Sunny Day
Roost
Grass knot

Zoroark: red card. (Anti-setup. Pursuit)
Flamethrower
Sucker punch
Taunt
Pursuit

I didn't list EVs because I'm confident with those. I'm torn between mega Charizard and mega houndoom. I will probably use mega Charizard because of drought, but I want mega houndoom's speed.

Haha, i guess EVs wouldve been smart to post after all. Charizard Y for drought, SpAtk and SpD. Houndoom for special sweeping. Helioisk for special sweeping and for water, rock, ground checking. Also for weakening special sweepers and the like. Trevenant as a physical counter and self healer/staller. Togekiss as a mixed wall, dragon counter, and applying sunny day. Zoroark to force a switch out and pursuit, and to taunt pokemon trying to set up.
Correction for togekiss. I should probably give it a heat rock.

fighting's a big weakness i think you should never have more than 2 pokemon with the same weakness. way too many grass moves its important on some but try spreading out on coverage. i would personally take out the charzardite y because you could always use ninetales instead.

EDIT: im new also so don't take this a law but some things i noticed

How about replacing Houndoom's solar beam with sludge bomb? I'm lacking fairy coverage. Also, I'd rather not replace a pokemon because of fighting weakness. My togekiss can easily wall fighting types with 4x resistance.

true i forgot about togekiss being fairy and i would do sludge bomb and replace charizard wiht ninetail as it has drought as HA

I've considered replacing Charizard with Ninetails, but Charizard Y has Drought + better stats. I'll probably rotate the 2 on and off the lead slot to test them out.

You also cant use two mega evos.

MHoundoom is pretty bad without sun and Charizard is worthless without Charizardite. So ditch the Houndoom, I'd recommend Chlorophyll Victreebel so you have at least some Physical attacks. Eerie Impulse is a bad move, give Heliolisk Specs with Dry Skin, Volt Switch/Surf/Grass Knot/Hidden Power. As a Sun team, you're inviting Rain users to walk all over you so Heliolisk can bluff a Solar Power set, then come in and dismantle rain teams whenever it's needed. Also your Togekiss set is subpar, I'd recommend Nasty Plot/Baton Pass/Sunny Day/Dazzling Gleam.

Dosn't dry skin hurt him in sunlight though? im pretty sure it does

Dry skin and solar power both hurt me. It will hopefully fool others into think it is solar power. It will benefit me if I run into a rain team too.

You keep Heliolisk out of the battle until they send in a Tyranitar, Abomasnow, Hippowdon, Politoed, or manual weather changer. Simply seeing his team on Team Preview will bait out opposing weather starters, which Heliolisk can then beat.

I thought of something similar awhile back with Helioisk. What would you recommend for Victreebell? I can think of Swords dance/leaf blade/return, but not sure about the 4th.

Go mixed. Growth/Power Whip/Weather Ball/Sludge Bomb, 120 Atk/136 Sp Atk/252 Speed, Naive nature. Breed with Roserade until you get a female with Weather Ball, then breed with a male Tangrowth/Tangela/Ferrothorn/Carnivine to get a baby with both Power Whip and Weather Ball (illegal in Gen V but possible now).

Oh ok, that makes more sense. That way it can benefit from Togekiss' Nasty plot. Thanks for the help!
