I finally built my first UU team, and it's doing pretty good on Shoddy, but I'll ask you guys about improvements I can make.

65.png

(Lead) DO IT AGAIN the Alakazam
Leftovers
Timid
Synchronize
~ Substitute
~ Encore
~ Psychic
~ Signal Beam
252 SpA / 252 Spe / 6 HP
Pretty simple to explain, Encore when I need to, Sub when I can, and attack. Any status get reflected back.

Da Beast the Feraligatr
Life Orb
Adamant
Torrent
~Swords Dance
~Aqua Jet
~Ice Punch
~Earthquake
208 HP / 252 Atk / 48 Spd
Swords Dance then Aqua Jet. I'll use Ice Punch and Earthquake when I need to. The EV's are kind of Random, so I would appreciate help on those.

257.png

Captain Falcon the Blaziken
Expert Belt
Rash
Blaze
~ Fire Blast
~ Superpower
~ Hidden Power Electric
~ Vacuum Wave
4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
He works as a wall breaker. The reason I gave him expert belt over Life Orb to fake a Choice Set for a bit.

208.png

Goldeneye the Steelix
Leftovers
Sassy (+ 0 Speed IV)
Sturdy
~ Stealth Rock
~ Earthquake
~ Gyro Ball
~ Toxic
252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
He's a wall. Yeah.

3.png

Spexy Beast the Venusaur
Black Sludge
Calm
Overgrow
~ Sleep Powder
~ Leech Seed
~ Energy Ball
~ Sludge Bomb
252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sleep Powder, then Leech Seed (Or vice-versa). Attacks come after. I named it Spexy Beast to allude to it having Specs, which it doesn't. But GD? Black Sludge would be noticeable, but if I don't get hurt, I recover nothing. Black Sludge is used for Tricksters.

334.png

Nimbus the Altaria
Choice Specs
Modest
Natural Cure
~ Draco Meteor
~ Fire Blast
~ Dragon Pulse
~ Rest
4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Fire Blast for Steels, Draco Meteor for immediate power and Dragon Pulse for late game sweeping, Rest to recover and switch out to awaken.

Leftovers on an Alakazam? It might work, but I prefer the Choice Specs set on Smogon with Trick:

Alakazam @ Choice Specs
Timid
Synchronize
40 Def / 252 SpA / 216 Spe
~ Psychic
~ Focus Blast
~ Signal Beam
~ Trick

You could also try Hidden Power Fire instead of Trick.

It's to "punish" entry hazards, and the leftovers give me more substitution.

I like the Encore Alakazam as a lead better than a Trick Specs Alakazam, so I would probably stick with what you have there.

One thing though, you may want to run Max speed since there are other base 120 Pokes in UU you could at worst speed tie with. I think this EV spread was made for OU since 216 puts you past your positive base 115s and lets you use some EVs other places.

Alakazam can OHKO most Sceptile and Dugtrio, the other Pokemon it its speed tier. If Dugtrio tries to Sucker Punch you can use Encore + Sub to your advantage there and probably come out on top. As far as Sceptile goes, you can go for the KO with Signal Beam in a pinch.

Thanks, I'll make changes to Alakazam, but could you help me out with "Da Beast"'s EV's.

Hmm, not sure how fast Feraligatr needs to be in UU play. You could run enough to get past 0 Speed Venusaur, since +2 Ice Punch should wreck it. Sweeping Venusaurs are dangerous though.

I'd start with something like 224 HP / 252 Atk / 28 Spe (or 232 HP / 252 Atk / 20 Speed, but first one hits leftovers number) and increase the speed as you come across something you need to outrun.

Choiced leads are never a good thing, plus Sub works better than Trick. I've used this lead in OU, it works pretty well without Trick trust me.

Wrong. On Shoddy, I've got a Scarfed Porygon-Z as a lead.

Modest / Choice Scarf / Adaptability
- Tri Attack
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Trick
252 Sp. Attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP

And it works surprisingly well. Great for screwing up slow Stealth Rock leads, that's for sure.

I mean one's without Trick...then I gave my opinion that Sub works better than Trick on the Alakazam.

I'm doing good with this time, only losing every so often (Like losing 20% of the time.) Thanks for the help, guys. (By guys, I mean Troggy, and Troggy alone.)

Don't play much UU but I'm pretty sure Blaziken doesn't need max speed. Also, as a general rule, you usually don't want black sludge on your mons. If an opponent has a trick mon, they can potentially use trick to cripple venasaur then trick something else and cripple it with black sludge. You say it's used for trickers but it hurts you more than them in the long run.

Well, most tricksters are psychic, so they are likely going to go for the super-effective psychic move, so it's a switch in for the Steelix right there. I'm going to switch it in on obvious tricksters.

Black Sludge is used for Tricksters.

Got confused with your wording. Thought you meant to say you would let them hit you with trick so you could poison them.
