Real music in Pokemon? MADNESS!

I'm not sure if there is a thread on this but I did a search and nothing came up,soooooooo

What do you guys think of having licensed (real) songs in pokemon games, I mean for gym leaders, rivals, vilans, e4 etc.
I feel this is an interesting Idea and would like to see it, but would be hard to satisfy everyone. What would you think and maybe get some examples for past games shall we?

Do you mean like Music (Lyrics and such), or instrumentals?
Music with lyrics, would not make a lot of people happy.
Some people like rock, some like rap, some like country, and some like soul.

I think it's best to leave it as it is.
Mostly, everyone loves the music.

Besides, pokemon has madd beats.

I wouldn't like "real songs" on Pokemon games, BUT, they could have some instrumentals for Gym Leader battles n such. I could imagine some gat slashin going on when I battle Volkner.
 
Yeah, like Robotnik said, if they included instrumentals, of maybe the top songs in each genre, then it could work.
But, I suspect some Pokemon theme songs would have to be taken out for this to work.

Anyways, I'm happy the way it is.
 
I don't think it's a good idea. A lot of people play Pokémon as a form of escapism from the "real world" and adding in something we'll find familiar could take away from that.
 
I like game music, and actually I'd hate if they swapped them to some kind of "real" music. It may work in GTA or Burnout, but not in Pokémon games.
 
Game music ftw.

Rocket Tower Takeover is a hella lot better some of the tracks you hear in these days.

I'll stick with the instrumental music. Like said, too many people like different types of music. :/
 
it would be kinda cool if the DS could pick up local radio stations and stuff, but other than that, leave it as is.

Maybe some insrumentals on songs I don't like like the Sunnyshore theme, Bike theme, Surf theme, and whatever theme is on the outside of Iron Island.

But NEVER replace Platinum's Giratina Battle music. EPICNESS. I need that song in every game.

Oh really? I haven't heard that. Is it on the Buoysel learning Ice Punch episode?

A short version of it was heard on the preview for that episode.

A longer version is heard during Urara vs Hikari.

An even longer version then that is heard during the finals of the Hearthome Tag Competition.

It's so good that even the dub keeps it. And we all know how fussy they are with their superior musical tastes...

FFFF-. I really don't give attention to episodes *goes off to rewatch DP114*

Well, I can't beat that. Though Encounter! Mysterious Trainer! should be Kohei's theme :).
 
There's an issue besides taste, too: "real music" of a high enough quality to be audible and intelligible eats up a ton of memory. Look at The World Ends With You: great quality, but only 30 or so tracks that are loops a few minutes long, because that's as long as they could make them and still have them fit. Granted, TWEWY has a lot of other code, but so does Pokémon, and I'd much rather see better graphics, new features, or just more different tracks than have a bunch of overdone music that may or may not fit the feel of the series as much as the current musical style already does. It's a trade-off: do you spend the space on more realistic MIDI sounds, or do you stick with the obvious synth and free up space for more variety in the tracks?

Everything fits but the name. It should be Encounter! Creepy Paedophile!
