Real Pokemon on the Loose: Experimental Existence

Many experiments are done behind locked doors, away from public view. They are funded by non-profit organizations and the government. The reasons for non-profit organizations to fund the experiments are often clear but when the government provides unlimited funding to a lab of unknown origin their reasons are questionable. What could the government be so interested in? The truth may be harder to believe…

Story:
A lab just out side of New York City was conducting research on genetic engineering. Their goal was to genetically engineer a living creature that was unlike any animal in existence. The research had come a long way in a very short time but funding was low. In desperation they turned to the government for help. The government, more specifically the military, was imprested by the research and made a deal with them. They promised to fund the research if they would genetically engineer them creatures with serious power, that could be controlled. Upon several other conditions the deal was struck and within a few years test subjects were produced. The government appointed their own head scientist to work on the project. The head scientist would conduct his own experiments in secret. After several years the scientists were ready to see if the test subjects meet there expectations; they were surprised to find that they had actually exceed them. The test subjects where innocent looking but had tremendous abilities, they could understand human speech and would do what they were told. Further more they could recover faster than any living creature on the planet. The ‘test subjects’ were basically genetically engineer Pokemon. After many more years of research the founder of the project took six of the strongest test subjects with him to present them to the military, with out informing anyone. Just two days later, the lab was set on fire by the government scientist as he made off with most of the test subjects and all the research. He left the assistant scientists and a small number of the test subjects trapped in the lab. Just before the building collapsed there was an explosion and the test subjects escaped. Investigators concluded that the fire was caused by a freak accident. It was officially reported that there were no survivors.
The test subjects had different experiences while in the lab and some were glad to have escaped while others were not. While exploring their surroundings a group of kids found them. The kids recognized them as Pokemon and offered to take them home. What happens next is up to you.

[Other Information]

>The founder of the research is Samuel T. Cromwell. When it came to creating the appearance of the test subjects he based them on creatures in the TV Series ‘Pokemon.’ He had originally wanted to make them, with out their powers and distribute them as pets. After the government started to fund his project he had to make them as obedient weapons. After he found out that the lab was destroyed he faked his death and went into hiding.

>The head scientist the government appointed is Dr. Smith. He likes to inflict pain on others and watch them suffer. He was working for the government as a scientist just to steal research and sell it to the highest bidder on the Black-market. Eventually the Pokemon he stole are sold to the buyers on the Black Market. Many of the buyers are criminals and intend to use them for their own evil schemes.

In this RP you can either be the ‘test subject’, also known as a Pokemon or one of the human kids that find them. If you wish to be someone else or have other questions just ask.

Rules:
Basic rules apply
‘IC’ posts must have good spelling and grammar.
No short ‘IC’ posts (At least a paragraph.)
No spamming.
No Godmodding.
No controlling other Rper’s characters with out their permission.
No being a Legendary Pokemon. Note: Mewtwo is not considered a legendary Pokemon since he/she was created by humans.
You may make a maximum of three characters.
Please use ‘IC’ to mark all In Character posts and ‘OOC’ to mark all Out Of Character posts to avoid confusion…

If your character is a human child you may use NPCs for Pokemon if you want, but no more than two.

Pokemon must be in their basic form. (Unless you can convince me otherwise.)

Aside from having their individual powers they have the ability to communicate with animals and have other special abilities.

Sign-up:

Name:

Age: (If human at least 10 years old. If a Pokemon at least a year and no older than 16.)

Gender:

Species: (What are they?)

Appearance: (What do they look like. This is only required if your character is not a Pokemon.)

Personality: (More than two sentences, preferably more.)

Obedience: ( Applies to the ‘test subjects.’ Although they were created to be obedient, freewill and independent thought can affect their obedience. How obedient is your character? This is optional.)

Special Abilities: (Applies to the ‘test subjects.’ something that they can do that isn’t normal for them. Ex: Talking human speech. No having every ability.)

History: (If your character is a Pokemon… what did they experience while they were in the lab? How were they treated? Did they like it there? Did they get to know anyone while in the lab?)

Other: (Anything else.)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Notes: Side note I made this RP on another form but I thought it might do some good here as well.

You can still sign-up once it starts but there will be a cut off date, at some point. Please wait until I approve your character and ‘officially declare it open’ before starting.

Apparently I wasn’t clear enough:
-all test subjects (IE Pokemon) are not limited in the number of attacks that they can use. You as the RPer are responsible for setting any limits (which do not need to be posted just kept as a mental thought so to speak.) if any as far as power and attacks. Your level doesn’t really need to be posted as it will vary over time… Just keep in mind how strong they (your character is) are. Keep it some what real (at least logically possible)

-Incase anyone missed it, The test subjects are Real Pokemon that were created in the Real World in a lab… there are no real wild Pokemon. The people of the world only think Pokemon is an Anime or game.

I Officially declare this open!

My sign up: :)

Name: Kitt (E. T. S. #10.25)

Age: 16

Gender: Male

Species: Pikachu

Appearance: He looks like a Pikachu.

Personality: He tends to think a lot, a side effect of being confined in a cage with nothing else to do. He usually doesn’t trust humans but will do what they ask if he feels that the benefits are worth the risk. He is often stubborn around humans. He has a curious nature and wants to know about everything. He does what he wants and only obeys rules if he feels they have a valid existence.

Obedience: He isn’t very obedient being among first test subject to have been created.

Special Abilities: Can speak all languages, lend his powers to others temporarily (which included appearance) and can shape his electricity to make it look and act like anything.

History: The first thing he remembers is being taken from a place of comfort, a place that was dark but calm and inviting. Then he remembers the fell of cold still against his back, tight straps across his chest and bright lights. The pain of the needle piercing him time and time again. Strange looking people surrounded him with sharp objects in hand. Sound came from these strange creatures and from other places that were unknown. The next thing he felt was a sharp pain like no other as knife began to cut him open. Then all went black.
He had recovered from his ordeal and was kept in a small cage in a dimly lit room. His wound recovered and left no proof of what he had got through, all that remained was the memory of the pain. He quickly found that he could understand what the humans were saying but refused to let them know. He had figured out that they were responsible for the pain that he went through and because of it he wouldn’t do what they ask him. To them he appeared to be a failed attempt but really he wasn’t. Eventually they moved on to other test subjects, leaving him in a storage room that slowly filled with other Pokemon. He communicated with them in his own language that he some how knew. He feel as though he could trust them and told them what he was hiding from the scientists. They understood but each had their own experience and some trusted the scientists. After many years the more obedient Pokemon changed shape and grew stronger. The scientists treated them differently and aloud them to leave their cages. Wanting to get out of such a confined space he let loose a few electrical sparks that he could feel with in him. The scientists took note and took him out of the small cage and observed his actions. They asked him to do things and he rolled his eyes but did some of the things he was asked to do. He never trusted them but he was willing to do some of what they wanted just to get out of his boring confinement. In the years to come he grew stronger but always held back. With his lack of obedience they were unable to present him to the military. Several years later one of the scientist came and took six of the most obedient test subjects with him. Not long after another scientist came and took many others. That night there was a fire and an explosion. The cage he was in fell over and he managed to get out. In all the chaos he and a few others escaped through a hole in the wall. He found him self in a world that was unfamiliar to him but as he looked back at the burning building he knew it had to be better than being trapped in a cage.

Other: He is the tenth test subject to have been created

Name: Inferno

Age: 16

Gender: male

Species: Absol

Appearance: Like a shiny absol, but with small bits of yellow on his outlines
Personality: Keeps to himself. He hates the fact that he is being taken in by humans.....

Obedience: Very, VERY little.

Special Abilities: Can use a huge section of fire moves, and knows 5, not 4, moves.

History: He only rembers being stabbed by needles. He saw a fellow pokemon being hurt... Then another came. And another. Soon he was surrounded by torture. They came and took the most obediant with them. Then they took all the others, leaving very few pokemon behind. Then...
Boom. He got up and saw what was happening. He saw the pikachu that was in the cage next to him escape. He followed him,and continued moving.
he was the 2nd creation made.

One other thing my character was the 10th to be created and is 16 years old, if your character was the second creation made and is only 7 years old how is that possible?

Either change the age, which creation he was or explain how he can be 7 when mine in 16... Ok?

If I may:

Name: Eon (yes, laugh at my lack of originality)

Age: 2

Gender: Male

Species: Eevee

Appearance: Normal, but the "Mane" around his neck varies in many colors due to the lots of mutations on him

Personality: A little timid, Childish, Distrusting

Obedience: Only to those that he feels he can trust; to anyone else, hardly if at all.

Special Abilities: Due to multiple mutations and experiments, Eon can use a vast amount of small power that all of his "evolutions", as the scientists called it, can control. (basically he can do what his evos can, but on a weaker scale, and he can't preform any of their "stronger" attacks)

History: Eon was part of a later section of experiments, when the scientists started working on artificial species with many possibilities of potential. Born/created in a large tube, Eon could only remember scarce parts of his upbringing, everything else were black-outs. What he could remember was mainly looking around for a minute or so, at other pokemon or people, and by occasionally listening to the human's conversations, he learned to understand their language eventually. He, along with his artificial 'bretheren', were experimented on and got mutated a lot, and Eon finally achieved the scientists goal over time, though the proccess was very painful and his mane became multi-colored. Eon would have been picked for the "special 6" if the pain hadn't made him quite disobidient towards the men, which it did. So the day before the freak fire, Eon's tube was shut down, putting him in suspeded-animation and frozen in time. During the fire, however, his tube was knocked over and shattered, reviving Eon. In panic and desperation, a small power erupted in Eon, teleporting him, but not far; only to about a few inches from the outside wall whose other side faced the room he was just in. Slowly calming down, Eon became aware of a beautiful city shrouded with lights looming before him. Without realizing it, Eon started to wander aimlessly into the city.

Other: Eon was the last of the Eevee experiments, and is possibly (but not entirly confirmed) the last test subject of the entire project.

Flaming Infernape, I Accept your profile.

That's correct the limit is 16...^-^;
Son of the sky I Accept your profile.

I Officially declare this open! :D I’ll start things off…

IC: It was a strange world I found my self in. I had never seen the world out side until that night, I escaped. I felt so free as I ran through the grass, the wind in my fur, and the sun shining down upon me. As I came to a stop I realized I hadn’t eaten in days. Back when I was held captive by my creators I was feed and cared for even though I was treated so poorly and was even abused. I closed my eyes as I recalled the painful memory as if it was yesterday.

I Had just woken up after fainting from my first glimpse of life. Bright lights shined down on me as I lay strapped to the cold table. I couldn’t move but I could hear voices. The voices didn’t make sense at first but as I listened the words became clear. I don’t know how I understood what they were saying but I did. I was frightened at what I heard, as they discussed weather or not to continue to dissects me. I struggled to move my head in vain as they proceeded. The scientist only had time to open me up and at the last minute they abandoned me as another experiment went out of control. I was stranded in the room for long time, not a sound was heard. By all means I should have ceased to exist but some how I survived.
Eventually I was tossed into a cage where I witnessed fellow test subjects go through what I did and even worse still, some didn’t survive. After all that they had done to me they had the nerve to expect me to do exactly what they asked; I played dumb and mocked them when I could. Every once in awhile I was taken out to have tests run on me. I was beaten in behavioral test, cut healing test, and forced to go through much more.

My trail of thought faltered as sadness came over me. I laded down in the grass trying to move passed that memory. Not all of my memories were as bad as that one, there were some good memories from my life in captivity.

It wasn’t too long before the scientist had given up on me and left me alone in a cage. As time passed the storage room filled with other test subjects and I was able to talk with someone. I was surprised to find that many of the test subjects had different experiences. The one that confused me the most was how well some of them were treated. I heard of some living in luxury, not bound by cages. Several of the test subjects encouraged me to be more obedient and to do what the humans asked. At first I didn’t want to have anything to do with the humans, especially after what they did to me. But after being confined to a cage for a long time I decide to give it a try. I let lose a few sparks to get their attention. One of the scientists came over and I tried to bite back my anger as I looked her in the eyes. She removed me from my cage and took me to a room I hadn’t seen before. She didn’t act like any of the scientists I had come into contact with. She had a soft tone of voice and wasn’t very demanding.
“My name’s Gloria.” I had expected her to run painful test on me but instead she told me her name. I didn’t understand what she was getting at but I wasn’t about to trust her. Then she asked me my name. I looked at her almost surprised, I opened my mouth but then I turned my head away. I had no real name, I was just called E. T. S. #10.25, 10.25 for short. My eyes focused on the polished wooden table she set me on; I couldn’t answer her question. I waited to be punished for refusing to answer but again she surprised me.
“You don’t have a name do you?” she asked sympathetically. I turned my gaze to her. “You need a name… how does Kitt sound to you?” I didn’t know how to react, I was in a stat of shock. I would have rejected the name she gave me but I couldn’t bring my self to do it. I had never had a real name and it was worth a lot to me. I still didn’t trust her however, I nodded non the less. As she took me out of my cage more and more often she told me about her self and I listened. Of course she had me use my attacks and do some ridiculous things every time I was with her. I never trusted her fully but I was willing to do what she ask just to be treated well and to get stronger. I never expected to find any kind of joy in that place but when I was with her I thought I felt happier. Occasionally I refused to do what she asked of me all together, usually when someone else was watching. I still kept the appearance that I was useless and unreliable for I had found out what my intended purpose was, originally. I had no desire to fight for the humans who had tormented me so… but Gloria on the other hand I found myself questioning...

I shook my head as I got up and looked around. No, I can’t trust humans… not even Gloria… besides she probably never made it out of the fire… so… there’s no reason to even think about her… I felt my heart cringe as I thought about it. I shut my eyes tightly and fought back a tear as I shook my head back and forth violently.
“NO! She was a human…! They can’t be trusted…! even still… I… I still…” I couldn’t say it as I was now filled with confusion, conflicting emotions, and hunger. The more I tried not to think about her the more I did.
She had feed me better than what she was suppose to. I had eaten nothing but pellets before I had met her. Many times she gave me part of her lunch. At first I didn’t know if it was safe to eat but as I watched her eat I tried it. There are no words that could describe how I felt when I ate real food for the first time.
As time went on I stopped checking to see if she ate the food that she gave me, possibly an area where I trusted her...

I should have never trusted a human… so much… I… After remembering about the food I found myself at a loss, I had no idea how to go about finding it. I sighed and walked off in the same direction I was heading before I stopped, away from the destroyed lab, in search of food.

OOC: You can still sign-up but there will be a cut off date, at some point.

Inferno's mind was clouded. He wasnt sure what to think. His mind said for him to run away from the pikachu infrount of him, but his heart said to help it. He was keeping the thought in his head as he walked down to the river. He saw a fellow absol nearbye, and noticed the striking diffrence between them. He growled deeply.

( I am a outcast... one of my kind )

He suddenly got a flashback of what happened. As the images ran through his mind, his body glowed red. Suddenly, a massive sacred fire burst from his body, incenerating nearbye trees.

Shocked at his power, and afraid he might hurt that pikachu by mistake, he ran off in the opposite direction.

Looking through the store window, Eon felt a huge pang of hunger looking at the food inside. "So hungry, if only I could..." He said to himself, while ducking down quickly as someone passed the window inside. 'I just don't get it, why does everyone treat me like something horrible...well, if they act like that, I guess I'll have to learn to ignore these creatures.' Eon thought. He turned around and spotted a Pikachu. Figuring that it would be better than roaming alone, he followed, making sure to leave some distance between the two in case Eon made the wrong choise.

In his frenzied dash, inferno made it through a forest.

He was in the opening, surronded by buildings. he ran for hours more, before he collapesed in a alley.

He quickly fell asleep, just as a trainer walked behind him...

IC: I had been walking for a long time with no sign of food anywhere. My stomach growled and I lowered my tail so that it was almost dragging on the ground. I’m beginning to think that the lab was the only place that had food… I never noticing that I was being followed by another Test subject as I continued to trudge along, still feeling sad and confused. Gloria… “Why can’t I stop thinking about her?” I said remembering one of the things she had told me.

I had just finished doing an attack for her when she pulled out her lunch. “Come here Kitt, it’s time for lunch.” She set the food on the wooden table and put half of it on a separate plate for me. I jumped up onto the table and inspected it for a moment before I sat down to eat it.
“Do you Like it Kitt? I got it fresh from the store.” She told me and I looked at her as I continued to eat the food. “You see the store is a place where many things are sold, not just food but furniture too. The furniture is made in a factory; your cage was also made in a factory.” I gave her an annoyed look and growled at her before turning my head away from her. “Oh, cages are not all that comfortable…
you probably don’t like that do you?” I sighed and shook my head before I started munching on some more food. “I’m sorry you have to sleep in those awful cages. If it was up to me you would not have to even be caged at all.” she said sitting down to eat with me. For some reason I enjoyed her company and didn’t mind her being so close to me.

After lunch she showed me some flash cards with numbers on them. I was able to read them but they didn’t make much sense to me at first. “Seventeen Plus twenty seven equals… forty-four. Ninety-three plus one-hundred and eight equals… two-hundred and one.” I eventually got the idea and was able to come up with the right answers but I never answered her my self. She told me that she had gotten the flash cards to teach her daughter and she thought it was a good idea to try and teach me as well. I felt grateful since I didn’t leave the room as she showed me a bunch of mathematical equations. She stayed with me the entire night and I fell asleep out side of my cage for the first time. It was so much nicer to have a good nights sleep since I awoke in this awful nightmare, that is since I was created. When I awoke I found my self in her arms. She had fallen asleep in the lab with me. I felt so comfortable in her arms so I didn’t wake her…

Why? Why? Why?! Why can’t I stop thinking about her? It’s not like she means…anything … to me… I don’t care about …I don’t… I… “I’m too hungry to think strait, that’s my problem… I need to find some food soon. Where am I going to find some…food?” I said as I reached the top of a hill, staring out at the sight. I shook my head and rubbed my eyes before I let my jaw drop. “What!!!” I covered my face with my right hand and collapsed down. I sighed as I took it all in. I saw huge building, structures that could hold millions of test subjects. I was a little intimidated as I knew it was a human city. “I didn’t know there were so many humans…” I said as I remembered what Gloria had told me.

I was using my double team for Gloria after she had asked me to try it countless times. I had gotten tired of refusing so I gave in and used my attack. She seemed to be happy and for some reason I felt good. “Thank you Kitt. Your attack sort of reminds me of New York’s streets, crowded with people. New York City isn’t far from here you know? It’s rather large and has very tall buildings. There used to be two very tall buildings there but some terrorists crashed some planes into them.” She paused and I detected a hint of sadness. I stopped using my attack and looked at her. “Many people died, many innocent people…” I could tell she was trying not to cry and I had the feeling she had known someone who was hurt in the attack, maybe even worse… I don’t know why but her sadness seemed to affect me. I walked over to her and hesitantly gave her a hug. I didn’t understand why I cared that she felt sad but I did. She seemed to be happy that I was there with her but she was still sad.

Several hours later she put me back into my cage. She told me she was going to her house and would be back tomorrow. I wasn’t too happy that she left so early because I had to spend the rest of the day in a cage with no one to talk to, not counting the other test subjects who were busy arguing with each other about what ever. I had to agree with one of the arguments I heard. ‘The humans were not to be trusted’
The next day Gloria came to get me later than usual. I couldn’t even consider obey anyone, not even to get out of the cage, not after what I saw that morning.

Yet another casualty to the cruel experiments the scientists had performed on a fellow test subject. This sort of thing was common around there except for one thing… they had another test subject do the experiment. I heard the pleas come from the test subject being terminated and I could do nothing but watch in horror as the other test subject obeyed the commands with out hesitating even once. The torturous pain the test subject had to have felt brought tears to my eyes as he was torn to peaces, slowly but surely by electronic devices. The whole process took just a few minutes but the screams stayed in my head for a long time.

Gloria took me out of the cage but all I did the whole day was lay on the wooden table and sulk in the sadness of what I had seen. I felt so bad I couldn’t even eat. Not once did Gloria get angry with me, and she seemed to feel sorry for me even though she couldn’t have known what was wrong with me. She continued to take me out of the cage even after a week of my sadness preventing me from really doing any thing she asked me to do for her. Each day she told me that if I only did one thing she asked me that it would be to eat something. I couldn’t understand why she cared. She didn’t even act like a scientist around me those weeks I was sad. I ate something for her each day and eventually my sadness seemed to disappear although the memory never left me.

The sadness I felt then seems to be following me around but It’s not as overwhelming as it once was. Gloria… I got up and started walking down the hill towards the City. I knew there had to be food there, I hadn’t noticed the picnic table or the food sitting on it. Until I passed it and the smell reached me. I turned around and couldn’t believe my eyes. “There was food right there and I almost passed it!” I ran over to the table and made my way into the basket. I recognized most of the food and started eating.
The sun was going down and it was going to be dark soon and I was getting tired. I was almost done eating when I heard foot steps. I swung around and my eyes locked with a little girl’s who couldn’t have been more than 13 years old. She stared at me and I stared at her, a peace of toast in my hands. I wasn’t sure what to do as the little girl’s eyes widened and the biggest grin I ever saw filled her face.
“Pikachu…You’re a Pokemon!!! A real live Pokemon!!! I can’t believe it! Oh my gosh I always wished you were real and now my wish came true!!!!” she exclaimed, shouting and jumping up and down like a crazy person. My eye twitched as I opened my mouth to let out “Ahhh” Should I run? What is she talking about? Does it matter? I look both ways and seeing no one else around I slowly backed up to leave.

“WAIT!!! don’t go!” she cried out to me. I raised one eye as I looked at her. And what makes you think I’m going to listen to you? As I turned a way to leave I stopped in my tracks as I heard her once more.
“Please! I waited my whole life to see you?” Your whole life? Ha, I’m at least older than you, and from the looks of it your barely a third of the age of the youngest of scientist I’ve seen. Your just a kid, come to think of it your whole life couldn’t have been that long at all. “I’ll give you all the food you want! You don’t want to sleep outside do you? You can stay at my house! You don’t have to worry about my parents cause they work long hours. They aren’t home very often.” Really, like I’m going to trust you? A human? That just is not worth the risk…

“I got TV! A nice bed you can sleep in, ah, ah toys ah please just come stay with me at my house please, oh please, oh please, oh please!!!” she said almost ready to cry. Toys? A bed? TV? Theses are things Gloria told me about… they were recreational things, well the bed was luxury… at least in my case… Shoot! And with this little girl’s sad tears… I CAN’T believe I’m doing this… but it seems worth the risk… besides if the scientists survived they would no doubt be looking for any of use who survived the fire… it would be safer in a human home… the last place they would think to look for me… I sighed and slowly walked over to the little girl. This human might not be trust worthy in the least but from what I remember Gloria telling me about kids is that they are often innocent and are… ah ignorant.

I poked the little girl who had her head in her arms crying. She looked up at me and her whole face lit up. The next thing I knew I was being hugged tightly as she repeated the words ‘thank you’ over and over and over again. I held back the urge to let loose my electricity and groaned at myself as much I did at her. I don’t know why I didn’t zapper her right there and then even though I wanted to, so very much. She then carried me off to her house which wasn’t too far away…

OOC: Son of the sky... 'A trainer walked behind him'...?

(I hope I'm not too late!)

Name: Shadow

Age: 16

Gender: Male

Species: Sableye

Appearance: Like a regular Sableye, but the gem growths on his body aren't limited to just rubies, sapphires, and emeralds.

Personality: Born to a life of seemingly unending pain and testing, he has grown to be quite bitter and hostile to humans and the pokemon that favor them. He yearns to see the scientists endure the agonizing pain he had to go through every day. Yet, he can't bring himself to harm any humans because it is not what his friend wished.

Obedience: He has absolutely no obedience at all. He is adamant about being able to do what he wants to, when he wants to.

Special Abilities: Even though he isn't a psychic, Shadow can use telepathy. This includes mind reading to a small extent, and being able to speak his thoughts without actually talking. He also learned how to extract the jewels from his body with minimal pain.

History: Being one of the first creations born in the lab, Shadow has seen and heard many things. The pleas for mercy, the cries for help, the look on his fellow test subjects' faces as they were whisked away to be executed because they were deemed "failures".

It was not bad in the beginning though. Shadow felt being pulled out of the small, glass tube he had been residing in for months since his creation. He was then put into one of the many cells found within the lab. Shadow didn't mind the darkness of the cell though. He enjoyed it, thrived on it even. For many days he went on with his life and daily routines until a second experiment was assigned to his cell.

The new creature looked ridiculous. Shadow perceived it as a floating cloth curved inward at the middle to give the front portion the semblance of a head. The creature had a horn on top of its head and had ridiculously huge eyes. Altogether his new cellmate looked hilarious. After a few minutes of awkward silence they began to talk and soon became quick friends.

It was a relatively nice life Shadow lived with his new friend until he was called out of his cell one bright, summer day. His arms and legs were strapped to a cold, metal table and his eyes were struggling to adjust to the bright lights that loomed overhead. When he could finally see what was going on around him, a strange man slowly walked towards him with a scalpel and prongs in hand.

Then came the extreme pain. It seemed like an eternity when the strange man and his assistants were slowly removing the gemstones that dotted his body. Topaz, opals, rubies, and other various gems were being plucked out one by one and placed onto a tiny medical tray to be washed and sold. After the procedure, Shadow was left alone on the table, begging for the pain to go away. Almost instantly, his violet skin began to extend and seal the many wounds covering his body. A passing scientist saw this happen and quickly told his superiors of this amazing feat. Of course pokemon had the ability to heal quickly, but the speed at which Shadow recovered was phenominal!

From that day on, Shadow was taken to the lab everyday for testing, to see how fast he could heal. To see how much pain he could take. To see how much torture he could go through and still come out alive.

His only reprieve from all of the experiments took place at night, in his cell. He was greeted by his fellow inmate in the evening and the two discussed their day and played games and tried to grasp any sleep they could get before the new day came. Because of this Shadow loved the darkness nighttime brought, and despised the daylight with every fiber of his being. Darkness meant safety, seclusion, and peace; and light became the symbol for pain, torture, and anxiety. His floating puppet friend teased him about this and began to call him Shadow, because he was always hiding in them.

One day, months later, Shadow came to his cell to see his cellmate darting around the room, brimming with excitement. His friend explained with extreme giddiness that he could pass through walls. It became a secret only known by the two of them. Every night his puppet friend would tell him all of the amazing sights he saw that day and Shadow listened silently with awe and wonder at the idea of a happy, outside world, full of laughter and smiling faces. Shadow learned that some humans weren't all bad and that they should be trusted. Then he foolishly promised his friend that he would never hurt a human.

Everything went on as normal until his friend was caught tresspassing in a top secret room filled with all sorts of important documents. The scientists debated over the incident, and deemed Shadow's friend as too curious and Shadow's friend was scheduled to be executed.

The day of execution came. Both of them knew that they could do nothing to stop the upcoming event. Even his puppet friend's ability could not save him from his horrible future. He looked back to Shadow with a sad face as he was escorted to the execution room, never to be heard from again.

Days passed, and soon it became weeks and months and years. Nothing ever changed for Shadow except for his ever-growing hate for the humans who took away his only friend. Shadow was happy on the day of the great fire. He was going to watch the cruel scientists he had lived with for so many years suffer and die without breaking his promise. He would then die so that he might be able to visit his friend. But no, Shadow could have sworn his friend was telling him to run away and survive, and so he did.

Other: Yes, Shadow's friend was a Shuppet if it wasn't obvious enough. And Shadow's quick healing comes from Recover and Moonlight.

Sorry if the history was too long.

IC:

There were so many more humans in this "New York City" than Shadow could have possibly imagined. Everyone was moving, everyone had somewhere to go to, some goal to accomplish. Shadow kept to the darkness of the alleys and began to observe the many humans moving busily from one place to the next. Even though there were many sights and sounds around him, nothing in particular caught his attention.

Getting bored, Shadow was about to move on and leave the area when something caught his attention. A human child was pleading to his mother to go to a place called "Nintendo World Store" at the "Rockefeller Center" to go buy pokemon merchandise. Shadow started to read the child's mind for more information, but it was too late. They moved too far away for Shadow to read the boy's mind and it was too risky to try to follow them.

This Nintendo World Store intrigued him. Shadow himself was called and considered a pokemon by the scientists who ran the now ruined lab. Was this place like the lab from which he escaped? If so, what would he do? Should he try to free all the test subjects or stay away for fear of being captured?

Shadow didn't have enough information about the Nintendo World Store. He would need to go there and decide what to do when he got there. The only clue he had about the wherabouts of this mysterious place was that it was located within the Rockefeller Center.

Shadow would have a harder time finding the place since he could not read human writing. It just looked like strange symbols clumped together at different intervals.

Nevertheless, he was determined to find the Nintendo World Store. Shadow focused and his body changed from a rich violet to pitch black. Shadow smirked. His ability to blend in with the shadows helped him escape from the daily testing at the lab for a while, until the scientists used a machine that showed the body heat of creatures to track him down. Still, those days of pseudo-freedom were very much savored.

Shadow traveled quickly across the city, reading peoples' thoughts and moving closer to the place where Rockefeller Center, and occasionally the Nintendo World Store, were on almost everyone's minds. It did not take a long time to find it.

Shadow could see small children accompanied by their parents moving in and out of a brightly lit building, carrying dolls that looked similar to the creatures at the lab in their hands.

"Are they making actual pokemon in there?" Shadow wondered. Too many people were blocking the way for Shadow to see much of the inside of the building. There was no choice. He had to go in.

Shadow quietly slipped in through the front doors and quickly ran towards the nearest shadow he could find. Too quickly. In his rush Shadow didn't notice a human's foot stepping into his path and tripped. He quickly recovered from his fall and began to scramble for safety in the darkness, but it was too late.

Every single person, child and adult alike, stopped what they were doing to stare at the Sableye standing before their eyes. It was quiet for a few moments before everyone made a mad rush towards him, and he was helpless against it.

People were grabbing, kicking, screaming even. All wanting the same thing: to hold Shadow, bring him home, and stick him with all of the other pokemon-related items they already had.

"Why did I promise not to kill any humans?" Shadow screamed, frantically trying to escape everyone's grasps. All hope seemed to be lost for Shadow until a boy Shadow judged to be in his teenage years, possibly sixteen as well, dragged him from the crowd of fanatics.

"If you want to survive, you'll follow along," he whispered to Shadow. "Everyone! This Sableye is with me!" the boy stated promptly. Everyone looked doubtful until Shadow nodded in agreement with the teen. Then the two proceeded to exit the building.

Resorting back to aimlessly wandering around again, Eon decided to take to the roof-tops. 'At least with that Pikachu, it felt like I was heading somewhere, even if we were doing exactly what I'm doing now.' He thought. Coming across a gap in the roof-tops, Eon used some of his ice attributes to make a temporary bridge across it. He hurried across it, knowing that it would break any second, and continued on.

After a while, Eon stopped and looked down at the streets below him. There was a semi-large building with a large crowd nearby, and it seemed that a number of them were trying to get thier hands on something. "Wonder what that's all about. Fighting over a Spinerak to tear limb from limb. Those...those..." He said, trying to think of the word, but ignoring it altogether eventually. Looking back he spotted a boy leaving the crowd with, unbelievably, a Sableye. "No...that can't...another test subject?" Eon said, trying to get a better view of the scene, when he tripped over something a started falling towards the ground. Closing his eyes in pure terror, Eon had no clue about a boy, around 14 or 15, running up to and catching him seconds before he would have hit the pavement.

((Wow, this looks like an awesome RPG, you mind if I join (I hope it's not too late D: ). Would it be okay if I were to be a scientist, perhaps looking for any surviving experiments? If not I'd be more than happy to just be another surviving experiment.))

Inferno heard a noise behind him.

A shrill cry came out as a shuppet was behind him.

A flamethrower later, the trainer fled.

He hit the ground hard, and fell asleep.

The next morning, inferno had reduced himself to eating trash. After a while he went out into the woods, and started drinking from the pond.

OOC: Parasite Black, it's not too late and I have no problem with you being a scientist if that's what you want to RP as. ^-^
