Realistically, would you be as fond of Pokemon if they were real?

I don't think I would for some reason. While the Pokemon seem all cool or cute in cartoon mode, a lot of them would surely look awkward or weird if they were real; the colours probably wouldn't be as vivd too. Also, if they were real they wouldn't act as a means to escape reality because we'd be presented with them every single day, and they mightn't be as exciting or interesting.

Would we be as interested in a game about our current animals as we are about Pokemon?

Hmm....

If Pokemon were real, I dont know what I would think. They would likely look very strange. Tho, I cant deny how awesome it would be to battle Pokemon in real life. Its like the Pokemon virtual reality game I always dreamed of.

Yes tbh.
I love animals and I would love pokemon too, if they were real.

If they look like in the games, then yes.

But if they look somewhat too realistic enough to scare people.. then no. Personally, I wouldn't want a Garbador roaming around the alleys around where I live.

As long as they look like real animals and the cute ones are actually realistically cute, and the scarier ones are realistically scary. Not if they are hideous monsters. You know like the ones people digitally create and say "this is what Pokemon will look like if they are real" and they are gross scaley and freaky. Like Tyranitar should look lizard-like but not gross, etc.

No. If they were real,Pokemon battles would be prohibited and considered a severe crime which pretty much destroys half of the concept of Pokemon games.

Yeah that has never stooped anyone from hosting fights of any animal.

On my end,it would be interesting to say the least. You would have to take care of them like any other creature, which isn't bad or anything. Although I shutter at the fact of cleaning after a snorelax,or ant other heavy eater, knowing what they could put away lol

Well it depends. If we're talking about having pokemon in our world then no. Pokemon are so powerful (for the most part) that either they'd turn on us and we'd be in some post-apocalyptic nightmare or we'd never even see them because the government would lock them all up for use in war, industry, fuel supply etc. Think how devastating a war involving pokemon would be. (Even something small like a pidgey could be taught to create tornados- whirlwind- to attack a country) However, if we could go and live in the pokemon world, that'd be fantastic!

I want a Metagross, to sit on its back and climb mountains and go anywhere with it.

Unfortunately it might eat the neighbouring cars. And possibly pokémon. And would break up computers just by being near them because the magnetism. But the good thing of steel types is no matter the details they always look good.

Also our world is not ready for pokémon. It all would quickly turn to chaos as they are erradicated or used wrongly or against humanity and wrecking civilization. It'd take rebuilding a whole new civilization across millenia to have pokémon and our world co-existing without the former obliterating the later.
Not to mention it'd wreck the ecosystem.

But, in the context where the Pokémon world is the real world, then they'd just be something from life. A different life that is more exciting and fun, though. Escapism wouldn't be as much necessary.
the colours probably wouldn't be as vivd too
That is one thing that ticks me off. "Modern games" are obsessed with "real is brown", but that gray forest you see in the game, in the real world, is of a bright green. Plenty of animals and plants have awesome colors, they just are relatively exotic because cities for the most part are gray and brown.

If Pokemon is real, I would rather train a Pokemon from young rather than go to the old, because their minds will still be fresh. As evidenced in real life, if you start small, the results will be great. Starting big will mean that I have too much to handle on the plate, and the following failures will be too much to handle. I may probably be more interested to real-life animals now because they will look different from the Pokemon world, and I might compare them with the Pokemon, so I might say "a giraffe looks like a Girafarig but taller" or "the elephant looks like Donphan but bigger".

Thanks for reading.

Probably. I would love having an Umbreon or a Houndoom by my side as I wander to the next city after leaving the nest at the ripe old age of 10.

No, I don't really think so. I think people are fascinated w/ Pokemon (& any other fictional interest out there) because it's something that doesn't normally happen in their lives. If I was gonna look for a show to watch & had to choose between Pokemon or something on Animal Planet that gave tips on how to groom your pets I'd watch Pokemon because it's something interesting that's unobtainable & feeds on imagination. That's what makes it interesting. I love my pets (dogs) but I wouldn't wanna watch a show on how a family or a person talks about their lives w/ the dog because I can just have those moments for myself actually being w/ my dogs. Did that make any sense or did I just ramble on for a bit? :sweatlol:

Pokémon are a form of mundane fantastic. Perfectly normal to them, but not to us.

It depends on how long they've been around and if we can catch/tame them yet.
Of course, "realistically" far fewer people wouldn't be trainers, and most probably wouldn't stray very far from home (I wouldn't).

Hmm, when you put it that way... Yeah, I don't know if I would be as interested. A lot of Pokemon would look extremely weird in real life. And I don't really like animals (besides cats), so...

If you think about it a lot of the animals and creatures in this world already look weird and bizarre, so if you look at it that way it wouldn't be that strange. I do prefer to keep Pokemon where they are at the moment though and that is because they seem much more cute and colourful in their animated state.

However if I were to visit this animated world of Pokemon I wouldn't mind that at all. ^^

If they were real, I'd live in the constant dreadful fear for my life knowing for a fact that the only thing standing in the way of the all the legendaries from instantly turning me and all that I love into a pile of ash IS ASH!
