A few years ago I remember borrowing a 'pocket monsters' game from my friend for the original gameboy (Back when I still played my GBA :p)

It was a 3 in 1 cartridge, and I'm pretty sure it was a fake or something because none of the 'pokemon' in it are on the pokedex anywhere...

I remember one of them, you were some teacher guy who'd got transported to a world with 'pokemon' in it, and ended up at some huge tree. There were a couple of things in there that closely resembled gardevoir and spiritomb, but it was way before DP, and probably made before any of gen 3... It also had some swearing in it, like when you defeated a 'team ___ grunt' in a cave...

I've just been looking for information on this, and I can't find anything about it. Anyone here know anything on this?

Those were all definitely fakes and fan made. You'd have to do extensive googling to find out more.

There fake, I suggest you do some deep research, I doubt the Bulba encyclopaedic will have information on it.

I thought so. I'll ask my friend if he still has it.
It's weird how some of the pokemon look a lot like newer ones...

It was likely the Pokemon Diamond/Jade/Crystal 3 in 1 bootleg, a pretty rare one as they go. Diamond and Jade were probably the games you are remembering, although it's not exactly a teacher- at the beginning, a bunch of schoolkids playing baseball fall into a giant tree and end up in the "electric monster's world". There were indeed quite a few monsters in-game resembling current Pokemon, particularly the starter who was a Sandslash clone. There was a ton of cursing, usually where it didn't even fit, and there was an evil team- although I forget their name, it was random Japanese syllables- and they were called "grunts", you fought them in a cave. I have a Pokemon Jade cartridge and it's one of my favorite collectibles as I love bootleg junk. The Pokemon Crystal on this cartridge was, actually, legitimate.

Alternatively, there was a version that came with a fake version of Crystal, the likes of which I don't know much about. I know Pokemon were called elves and uh... everything was REALLY screwy.

Those are my best guesses.

Pokemon Jade and Diamond aren't fanmade, though, they're (bad) pirate translations of Keitai Denjū Telefang with the Pokemon name slapped onto the title screen to trick kids into buying it.
Not bad games, despite their reputations as "lol shity fake pokeman gmaes!!1", mostly spread by people who played them for 5 minutes after deciding in advance they were going to hate them.

Adamant speaks the truth. Despite the humorously bad translation, it's one of the best GBC games out there.
