I need a new game to play in school.

The terms are:
>Touch-screen is preferably not mandatory
>No Nintendo originals (Mario, Zelda, etc.)
>Preferably came out in 2009

What's your preferred genre? And what games do you already own?

I just want fun. Oh, and not a puzzle game. I've got about 10 games (don't feel like typing out...) that are all great, just that I've finished them.

so you don't want to play the new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game?

... Harvest Moon DS is pretty much the only non-Pokemon DS game I own, and I wouldn't recommend it unless you really want to test your patience.

Well.....kind of hard to find a game where the touch screen isn't need.

But....all I have in mind are Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and The World Ends With You.

Mario Kart DS, Mario Party DS, DK Jungle Climber, New Super Mario Bros.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see that no Nintendo classic... Even if it still is, DK Jungle Climber literally requires NO use of the touch screen whatsoever. It's used only as backup for Cranky Kong's lectures.

final fantasy fables: chocobo tales is pretty nice. 2009 eh? Try kingdom hearts 358/2 days. and uh... didn't rhythm paradise come out in 2009? I can strongly recommend that one.

hmm... JUMP! Ultimate Stars, Harvest Moon DS, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days is amazing and barely requires use of the touchscreen.

I might sound crazy here but if you love hoarding go for treasure world. Otherwise I would suggest you to go pick up whatever was mentioned. Hell a lot of DS games are good I could recommend everything to you except for the Babyz games and all that garbage.

Spore Hero Arena, I might get it, and I hear it's good. You get to create your own Spore Hero creature and fight as it.

I know you don't like the touch screen but, any Professor Layton game, and/or Hotel Dusk.

Super Princess Peach is the best platformer on the console, even though it is a Nintendo game.

*Generic message to let you all know that I'm reading that suggestions, am thankful, and want more.*

I third Chrono Trigger, though if you want something strategy wise check out Advance Wars, any of them. Those games are soo addictive!

If you have a DS or DS Lite, you could also reach back into the GBA stuff...but you asked for DS titles.

Final Fantasy 3 is a decent title, though I've only played through about half. If you've already played it via import or emulator though, try something else.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2 was recommended by my brother. Might try that one if you're into TBS titles.

I was able to play the fossil extraction portion of Fossil Fighters over Nintendo Channel. It was intriguing, and I would have liked to explore some of the other gameplay concepts. Not sure if that's main-line Nintendo though...

Speaking of which, if you want some really good ideas, and have access to a Wii, you might try checking the Nintendo Channel. They do have demos and user recommendations there, and it covers 3rd party titles as well.

I'm also monitoring this thread, so throw more suggestions up people!

I fourth Chrono trigger. I can't believe I forgot to mention it. It's my favourite game for the ds, together with kingdom hearts 358/2 days.

I personally reccomend final fantasy 3, any of the dragon quest ds games, ( I am currently doing dragon quest monsters joker) Have you also played any of the sonic ds games

Complete sleeper hit here. What you have is old-skool hack and slash platforming on the top screen, with what is basically Tetris Attack on the bottom. You switch between the two. Things you do on one screen may affect the other. For example, kill a monster in the top screen, and it'll go to the bottom, where you have to kill it again by lining it up (or it'll come up as a block and start to attack). If you get an item in the bottom screen, it'll also help you in the top screen. And, you play as a British guy. And you get a kickass robosuit as a powerup.

Music is pretty wicked too, and for a simplistic game, it actually has a pretty decent plot (better than most RPGs, IMO). Most shocking of all is how it was made by EA. Fits all three requirements you asked for.

And it's not an RPG, which far, far, far, far, (repeat "far" 2187 times), too many people seem to be recommending. Not to say they aren't bad, but this again goes back to my point about not enough people having broad enough horizons!
