Since Red is going to be in the game for sure do you think they will put Leaf into the game. She could just be a cameo or a maybe like Jasmine is in Sunnyshore city. What do you think?

I don't think they'll put Leaf in the game.
And if they do, it might be:

Gold VS. Red
Soul VS. Leaf

On Mt. Silver.
Who knows?

I think that they might. Just like GSC was a sequel to RBGY, HGSS is a sequel to FRLG. RBGY didn't have the female trainers, so Leaf couldn't have been in GSC. But Leaf was in FRLG, so she would still be around 3 years from then (characters don't just vanish). I think it's likely she'll be in HGSS on Mt. Silver.

I think you meant to say:

Gold VS. Red
Kris VS. Leaf

But there are plenty more threads in which to discuss that.

Leaf may or may not appear. Perhaps she will appear at the Viridian Trainer House if a FireRed or LeafGreen game with a female character is inserted into the GBA slot.

Considering that Red has been confirmed to have disbanded Team Rocket in the canon timeline (as pointed out by the official web site), it is quite unlikely that Leaf will be interchangeable with him depending on the player's gender.

She has a very good chance to be given a brand new role, as she is one of the most important additions in FRLG, of which HGSS are sequels (as opposed to just being remakes of the sequels of Red, Green and Blue).

Well, those events have two different purposes. Disbanding TR is a part of the plot, while facing Red in Mt. Silver has more to do with fighting yourself (to tie-in with RBGY). I don't think that they would necessarily not put Leaf in Mt. Silver just because Red was the one to disband TR. Though I agree with you that she will be given some sort of role.

It is still very unlikely that Red's original role will be split between two characters. The games will explain that Red disbanded Team Rocket regardless of the player's gender, and Red will almost certainly show up on Mt. Silver to battle Gold. If Leaf replaced Red on Mt. Silver to battle Kris, there wouldn't be any symmetry, since she still wouldn't have Red's role in its entirety.

Game Freak can come up with a new role for Leaf just as they have done for the opposite-gender NPC, who was not present even in Crystal.

Yeah, I guess that's a good point. Maybe instead of deciding between Red/Leaf based on the player's gender, there can be a way to fight both of them. Not with Leaf at the trainer house, but maybe she could be in a seperate room in Mt. Silver, or she could be the older sister of the opposite-gender character or something.

Red looks the same age as Leaf so gamefreak could make Leaf be his twin sister somehow. Though she still could qualify as being an older sister if she was a few minutes older than Red.

I can see her showing up in contests and such if they don't put her in a specific role like a trainer. She could be living in Pallet town for all I care but I like the continuity in stuff so almost anything will be fine with me.

I know I'm tardy to the party and all, but I assume these inferences about Red and Team Rocket are coming from the FR/LG popup on the HG/SS main site...

Was that window fully translated? Haven't come across it yet.

In RBY, there is no optinon to choose which gender...so they simply put Red in because there is no Leaf. In FR/LG, if you chose to be girl...she can disband Team Rocket, so really....Red and Leaf have same achievements :/

Yes, but as UL previously said, the website confirmed that the CANON STORYLINE is that of Red's. It doesn't say "a kid from Pallet Town disbanded Team Rocket", instead, it explicitly says "RED disbanded Team Rocket". So it's for sure that he'll be the character to battle in Silver Cave, while Leaf would get another role.

Okay....Maybe Leaf will replace trainer inside Trainer's house? :/

Can you post a link to the website?

ever heard of google? It's on the official HGSS website.

but I'll be nice

here's a thought (no flames please) that might throw in a twist. We know Red took down TR. But you all remember that rocket recruiter in Cerulean? What if Leaf actually did join TR, while Red went on to defeat them? So, Leaf would end up as a new admin or something. After all, the Rocket Recruiter tells the character they could go far in TR.
