If it hasn't been known already, it's for sure now. Red Gyarados is confirmed to be in HG/SS. And I have to say, I think GF did an amazing job with Gyarados' sprite in general. It's a different take on it.

Fast forward to about 2 minutes in to see the battle. Which, by the way, the music isn't as butchered as I had thought. Sounds like they used Gen 1 music for the RG battle.

any thoughts?

I like the new Red Gyrados design, it looks really cool IMO. The music sounds good too. Seeing as they now have Red Gyrados, I'm perfectly content with anything HGSS has to offer.
 
Yes yes yes! Now, with Red Gyarados officially confirmed, I know I will buy a copy of SoulSilver without hesitation. If it had turned out that Red Gyarados wasn't in the game, I would probably question the purchase for about three and a half seconds before buying it. Yes, Red Gyara is that important.

Ofcourse it is! It's the only shiny fanboys can get without hacking and working their butts of!
 
Shock! Awe! Amazement! Gamefreak kept in a Pokemon that was a central plot point in GSC! I never saw that coming! I haven't been this surprised since it was revealed that Cyndaquil, Totodile, and Chikorita were still the starters!



At least I can still be thankful that the plot necessity of Red Gyara made Gamefreak put actual thought into its shiny color scheme, instead of letting it be lazily done and/or an abomniation like most other shinies are. Well, okay, changing a blue pokemon into a red pokemon isn't exactly creative, but at least it looks nicer than most of the other pallette swaps. And hey, that's one shiny we can get without Pokeradar chaining/the voodoo magic known as the Masuda Method(seriously, that thing is so complicated that you might as well use an AR. Do you really give that much of a shit about having a "legitimate" pallette swap?)/ARing. And as a bonus, various idiots now have to shut up about the 0% chance that Gamefreak somehow might not include Red Gyarados in HGSS. Horrahs all around.
 
Why was there any doubt in the first place? Changing something from the PLOT? Gee, that's not retarded at all. God, its like THERE WON'T BE KANTO and THERE WON'T BE CELEBII OR HO-OH RUINED FOREVER!

Shinies are awesome. Trust me, it's worth it, even if everyone else will have one too. Actually, since everyone can catch Red Gyrados, I bet that there will soon be more competitive Red Gyradoses than competitive Blue Gyradoses.

Yeah, Its gonna be awesome... especially with its awesome sprite. Not like Platinum's. It looked horrible in Platinum......
 
Well, it was pretty much guaranteed that Red Gyarados will be in, but nothing is ever certain (except uncertainty, and I'm not even sure about that :p).

Yeah, I can see it happening too. Magikarp doesn't get any egg moves so there isn't any advantage to breeding it, except for the really obsessive people who breed for IVs. I'll probably end up resetting for a good nature, and using this guy in the battle tower/frontier/whatever.
 
It's safe to say that Gyarados is the most recognizable shiny-form pokemon around, with it being one of the only ones with a guaranteed appearance.

Yeah. I bet that soon, Blue Gyrados will actually be in the minority in terms of who uses/raises them, since most people only want one Gyrados anyways, and the Red one will be seen as better. I might use Blue Gyrados just to be different. :p
 
Well, you all have fun with your red gyrados, but my Reed is not red, he's blue. And I'll have him before Azalea. So, maybe I'll have a gyrados face off at the lake. Reed could win easily. Thunderbolt.
 
Actually, now I might get a Red Gyrados and nickname it 'Big Red'. It'll go with my team of red Pokemon.
