(This was originally going to be a post in this thread, but I though having my own thread to just throw my thoughts out there whenever I have something on my mind might be a good idea.)

I watched this video that Bernie Sanders posted recently. He brings up the poignant point that AI is dehumanizing and that it isn't being used to improve the lives of workers, and is being used to enrich the wealthy bourgeois class. It made think though, why isn't he questioning the value of work altogether?

Of course, AI and robots can be trained to do manufacturing work and fast food labor (and are trained on stolen data when used in creative spheres), but isn't it telling of our society of our dependence on mass produced material goods and standardized fast food chain? The jobs that produce these goods and serve standardized food items are deemed "necessary" to pay the working class, but arguably our society manufactures the desire to consume these. And many "white-collar" jobs that AI could replace (and that I think are useless to begin with) consist of trying to sell products to clients, manufacturing dependence to these products, marketing these product, defending and arguing artificial persons (i.e. corporations) in court, and trying to maximize profit and economic growth rather than human wellness, etc.

This all makes me wonder how much of the work out in society is really necessary. I find more value doing things at home... Like, I've been staying at home a lot (I get few hours at my job) and while it is by far and large "boring", there is certain quaintness to preparing my own food, sewing holes and reattaching buttons on clothing, drawing, singing, sweeping, learning French, playing with my dog, looking at pigeons eat, drink and frolic in the vegetation and in the air, and feeling the breeze of the air. And this simplicity doesn't require money nor continuous purchasing of goods and services.

Another omission point which I though was surprising initially, is lack of any discussion of UBI (universal basic income), but it seems Bernie Sanders is not in support of it. I haven't looked into UBI in years, and I still think UBI is a good idea but I think I need to be more informed about it. That's all I got right now. Until next time
