Regarding Ash's Pikachu's Gender

Hello everyone. I'm bit of a newbie here (hate the term n00b, don't we all?) and I've noticed a small contradiction in 2 different pages concerning Pikachu and Ash's Pikachu, and it's gender. I've added 2 quotes below and they should explain themself. Someome might want to edit the Ash's Pikachu page for arguments sake, though I'm not the judge here.

Gender differences don't seem to apply consistently to Pokémon caught outside Sinnoh.

Pikachu is in all six regional Pokédexes, though it is only native to Kanto out of the four main series regions. It is imported from Kanto to Hoenn's Safari Zone and Mr. Backlot's house in Sinnoh.

With that being said, there was already a statement on Ash's Pikachu page stating gender differences.

And as far as speculations go, there IS evidence for Ash's Pikachu being female (despite the all-too-common majority belief of Pikachu being male). So basically, there is actually evidence for both sides.

well im not saying there isnt evidence, but, given the lack of obvious evidence, the wiki retains the "unknown" outlook.

The contradiction is gender differences don't apply to Pokemon outside on Sinnoh, however, Pikachu is not a Pokemon usually caught in the wild in Sinnoh, it was imported from Kanto, its native land. This makes the "Gender differences don't seem to apply consistently to Pokémon caught outside Sinnoh." argument useless.

Pikachu was caught outside Sinnoh. Gender differences in the anime don't apply consistently to Pokémon caught outside Sinnoh. Therefore, the fact that Pikachu's tail lacks an indent is insufficient proof for saying it has a male gender.

That's not a contradiction, that's supporting the argument.

Ash's pikachu i think is 100% male.Just look at the tail.If they wanted to make pikachu female they could say female pikachu have normal tails while males have pointy tails or something like that and you remember the brother my brother song right?

The games do not exist to validate the animé. Also, Brother by Brother was a song about Mewtwo and Mew, and only existed in the dub.

The gender of Ash's Pikachu can't be verified until a clearly female Pikachu shows up in the anime with an indented tail.

I think even then it'd have to be from the same region as well and be VERIFIED to be from the same region (we don't know for sure that Pikachu was caught in Kanto in the anime).

I think we'd really have to wait for official word from the writers/directors themslves or for Ohtani to update her previous statement about not having decided (that *was* three and a half years ago, after all).

...sooo...we haven't seen many other pokemon showing interest, either. Not necessarily noteworthy. I'm guessing it's on the same level as Ash is when it comes to attraction...meaning: zip.
