Regarding Social Groups

As part of an ongoing social group cleanup, over the coming weeks our Social Group moderators will be merging duplicate social groups in an effort to better organize our groups and to spruce up activity in the groups themselves. Topics and discussions will be moved from the less active groups to the more active ones, after which the less active groups will be deleted (their owners will be notified).

Members from deleted groups will be invited to the final groups, provided they aren't already members, while banned members will be removed from the groups.

Feel free to ask questions regarding these changes here, if you have any.

How will leadership be handled in this situation? Will both group's owners/leaders be lumped together and then they decide from then on out how to proceed? Or will the smaller group's leadership be taken down a notch and demoted to normal members in the new group?

It will depend on the activity of the leaders - a fair number will either be inactive or unwilling to hold a larger group.
 
Currently active or unique groups shouldn't be impacted by this shift greatly. Much of the pruning will effectively be concentrated on lots of older duplicate threads where owners may have been banned, no longer come here or no longer care to maintain their groups.
 
I still wish that "Teams" were allowed that was the beat time I had here.

The decision to ban teams was made after those involved with the teams were given countless warnings to cease their uncivil and argumentory interactions with one another. The decision to keep teams banned remains.
