While browsing the pedia, I found something called the spritedex project or something similar, which immediately caught my attention
(I like stuff like that, yes). I entered the page and after some reading the project really looked abandoned.

So does anyone know what is going on with it, did you guys give up on it? (I figured I'd get a better asnwer here because it seems that the project talk page is deserted)

tl;dr, What's going on with the SpriteDex project?

(This looked like the right section, move if not)

wow, that feels like a wall of text >_>

There really isn't anything to do ATM, as no game just got released. Can a mod close this?

No, this doesn't need to be closed.

The SpriteDex is an abandoned project. However, it is a very important project: there remain a million and one sprites that need to have the white background removed; in short they need to be transparentized.

If you can help with that, it would be great. We are also missing some sprites (often shiny sprites) from previous games.

Any help from any user is welcome.

Plus some Crystal sprites are somehow backwards (the Pokémon should always be looking toward the left side of your screen).

hey sprite people, go find us the shiny Emerald sprites!

I can help too, and I saw some people who can do the animations real good, but I doubt they're active now...
(Examples that I made are in my sig, the Medicham and Poochyena if you can't tell)

Well then Decibel, you're our go-to guy. Think there's any way we could get your assistance in making animated png versions of DPPt sprites?

I'd be happy to, once you tell me how to make apng's XD
(I do all of mine in gif)

EDIT: And by the way, I re-read my previous post and it looked confusing to me so to clarify:
I mentioned Medicham and Poochyena in the post to say theyre shiny, the Starly is also made by me.

It's an easy process... Emerald sprites as gifs first, though. Those are already set.

Well, a google search on how to make apng's only came up with some clumsy browser editors that need the whole image sequence and intervals input manually, which really can't work with some of the animations as some of them have alot of frames.

Example: Shiny Lugia from Diamond
LugiaS.gif

This animation here has 100 frames recorded at 30fps.

Unless of course I'm missing something and there is an easier way.

Well yeah that's what I meant, pretty much an individual thing. No one said it was gonna be easy to apng them all, and it's not like you'd be alone in the assembly process.

Either way, that Lugia looks good, except that it's off-color (likely a result of No$GBA's default settings) and the feet get cut off... So instead of recording it from a battle screen, I'd recommend doing it from the status screen and then flipping those that get flipped (like Lugia) while leaving those that don't (like Elekid).

I have no experience in this but can I thank you guys who are working hard on all these projects? I recommend the wiki to my friends simply because of how well put together it is.

I was going to address this later, but I'll just do it now:
Flipping them from the status screen is basically what I do, but there is a problem with very large ones or ones with big animations, like Lugia. The thing is, the status screen square is limited in size, so where the feet got cut off is the border of the square.

See how the bottom got cut off?

And about the colors, I DID notice the colors were off, but I couldn't tell why. Now that you're saying it's the default settings, is there a way to correct them?

Hey, I've also noticed many shiny sprites are not transparent, but the regular is, which I can help with if you want. :p

I think it's called emulation options? I'm not sure what setting it should be on, so have a play and see what you come up with.

That'd be fantastic. Make sure they're nice and clean :D

I did try beforehand, even the best color setting had a difference (Albeit smaller than the default setting). I guess the only option is to try different emulators...

I think you can get accurate colour settings by setting GBA Mode to "VGA (poppy bright)[/B]".

And Decibel, if I may, how do you capture the images from Nocash, and how do you make them into GIF/APNG animated sprites. I have one method but its very tiring and time-wasting.:banghead:

VGA Poppy was the best setting, but still not identical.

About the animation:
Record > Edit in Virtual Dub > Open in Photoshop (Flip and transparent if needed) > Save as a gif
Of course thats in a nutshell, the process itself is more complicated. You can PM me if you want more detail.
