Why was Eric Stuart cast over Ted Lewis in the Indigo League after episode twelve? Just something that's been bugging me because I believed Ted gave James a darker feel to the character and to TR.

Because James wasn't a dark character really?

But, I do think it was a good voice....

Jessie/James/Meowth are only dark until the Weedle start eating their box in episode four. Eric Stuart certainly fitted James' character since then.

Also note that Miki Shin'ichirō's characterisation of Kojiro then was not the same as it is now.

JJ&M were never serious, really.

Just look at how they looked after being zapped by Pikachu the first time.

In episode three they were defeated by a Caterpie...

I think that TR was pretty serious, and until the SS Anne episode when James cross dressed thats when they took it to a whole other level, looking back at all the Indigo episodes, I perceived TR the way they are in the GBG's. I mean the voice casting was amazing, but then when Eric Stuart took over James' voice turned, how do I put this nicely, pretty homosexualy

Ted Lewis had to leave the cast for a while due to other conflicts (I think it was theater or some other artistic thing), so Eric picked it up. I guess they liked him in the role, so they kept him.

I'm not a fan of Ted's James, but I do like his other voices. Tracey, yay!

Ted Lewis sucked anyway.

Excellent Giovanni, decent Tracey (though he clearly just did a variation on his Etoh for that one), but craptacular James. (IMO, he sounded like a gay British guy trying to sound French... or vice versa)

bandleader James

I liked TL better as the voice of James... it brought out the "character" in him... (too hard to explain)
