Regulation I was the ninth official ruleset for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet VGC, and allows the use of up to two Restricted Special Pokémon per team, such as Koraidon or Miraidon. A full list of Restricted Pokémon available in Scarlet and Violet can be found below.

To prepare for the new ruleset, revisit some of the most powerful and successful teams from Regulation I from the 2025 Pokémon World Championships, 2025 North America Internationals, 2025 Grand Challenge IV, and Ranked Seasons 31, 32, and 33.
This is expected to be the final VGC ruleset for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, with Pokémon Champions scheduled for release in April 2026. Only three in-person VGC events are scheduled for the month of April, being the 2026 Orlando and Querétaro Regionals, both scheduled for 4–5 April, and the 2026 Prague Regionals from April 25–26. The 2026 Global Challenge I follows these events from 1–4 May 2026, and is an online event that will take place in Pokémon Champions, using the currently unannounced Regulation Set M-A ruleset that is set to reintroduce Mega Evolution to VGC for the first time since 2019.
The current ruleset, Regulation Set F, ends on 31 March 2026. The final events to use this ruleset will be the 2026 Curitiba Regionals from 14–15 March, the 2026 Houston Regionals from 21–22 March, and the 2026 Seville and Cape Town Special Championships, both scheduled for 28–29 March.
