Hey Guys,
I am an aspiring fiction writer (don't worry, I'm not trying to professionally publish fanfiction, I have my own original story locked away). I also administrate on another forum (to avoid advertising, I won't name it) where I also run an RPG based on Team Rocket's Johto plot. For this RPG, I decided to write a series of four or five one-shots, describing each of the four new executives. For this, I have tried to make it Cross-Canon, meaning that I will be trying to pool elements together the Anime, Games and Adventures manga - the three main respected canons in the Western Pokémon Fandom.

So without further ado, I present to you "Rocket Relaunch":

Step 1: The Hummingbird and Fallen Thrush

It was deep into the cold, lonely night. There was a slight breeze, but only with enough strength to move the odd leaf. A tall, rather curvy woman with shoulder length red hair was standing outside of a bar. She was leaning against the wall as if she had been waiting a long time. She continuously checked her wrist watch, and each time she did, she let out a sigh.
When will he come? She thought to herself. It was just as she was about to give up hope, when a figure emerged from down the street. It was a tall masculine figure, covered in a black trench coat and a black fedora hat. The woman looked towards the figure with a face of joy.
“I’m sorry you had to wait so long, Ariana.” The man said once he was standing in front of the woman. “Shall we go inside?”
“Yes your highness.” The young woman curtsied before opening the door.
“Please Ariana, there is no need for such formality. I am no longer your boss.” He said as he walked in.
“No of course not...Giovanni.” Ariana said quietly as she followed.

Once the two of them had got their drinks, they choose a small table in the corner of the room to sit at, facing each other.
“So Ariana...how’s the organisation doing without me?” Giovanni asked as he removed his fedora, placing it on the table. His face was sharp, and rugged like a stone, giving him a dominating presence. His eyes however, told a different story. Beneath them were bags, and the eyes themselves told of nothing but sleepless nights of deep thought.
“It’s just as you predicted. Archer has taken complete control.” Ariana replied before taking a sip from her long-necked glass.
“It was obvious he would. He was always undermining me whenever he got the chance. He can lead, but he can’t be popular.”
“He isn’t popular among us Executives at all. I wouldn’t be surprised if Proton will attempt a takeover.” Ariana sighed.
“Proton?” Giovanni asked, confused.
“A new Executive, handpicked by Archer.” Ariana elaborated. “Since you left, Petrel’s being promoted, and placed in charge of the Science Division-“
“Petrel eh?” Giovanni chuckled. “He never was much of a man. Always hiding behind some machine. I can see him being popular with the recruits though. He’s probably the one of us with a sense of humour.” Ariana gave her former boss a slight smile, confirming his belief, before continuing.
“Proton was a shocker. His fast-track promotion baffled all of us. He was barely even out of training when you left.”
“What are Proton’s abilities like though?” Giovanni said, before lifting up his glass.
“Proton’s young, so he has a lot of energy. However, he can be a distraction for the female recruits.” Ariana said with an irritated voice. Giovanni sighed.
“So he’s a pretty boy?”
“Pretty much.”
“Then I can’t wait to see his face get smashed in.” Giovanni said with seriously, and coldly.
“We all feel the same at headquarters.” Ariana laughed, then she got an idea.
“Giovanni...please come back to us.” She pleaded as she gently placed her hand on top of her former boss’. He however, pulled his hand away.
“I can’t Ariana...not after...” he said as he turned away.
“Because one kid beat you? Gio, your body may have aged, but you’re still as full of pride as you were back then.” Ariana mocked as she reflected on their first meeting...

It was about 20 years ago. Thousands of eager people in the same black uniform were crowded in a white hall, making it look miniscule. Standing on a podium at the front was a tall woman wearing a red business-suit with long dark hair. She looked to be in her mid-forties, while the younger, purple haired woman standing beside her looked around twenty.
“Remember everyone, every one of you standing before me will be beneficial in recognising our dream. We shall together harness the world’s finances and the world’s power, and make Team Rocket an organisation to be feared!” the woman shouted into the crowd to conclude a long-winded speech. The purple haired woman standing beside her was the first one to burst into clapping, resulting in the thousands upon thousands of people below her doing the same.
“Wow, Madame Boss is truly something!” a young Ariana shouted in awe. She looked similar to her older self, but prettier and less curvier, about 18 years old. A new recruit to Team Rocket, Ariana was recruited by a scout in Fuschia City. “I want to be just like her!” Ariana declared.
“No, you really don’t.” A male voice replied. Ariana confusedly turned around to see a young man standing before her - he was tall, had short dark hair, and a rugged stone-shaped head, highlighted with deep, piercing eyes.
“And why not? She’s the beautiful, dependable Madame Boss of Team Rocket.”
“She’s a brute.” The young man scoffed as he pulled up his sleeve, revealing burn marks. “She’s only dependable when it comes to herself. Everyone else is an obstacle.” He said fiercely.
“Wow, you mean you’ve been close to Madame Boss?!” Ariana asked in excitement, completely skipping the context. Deciding to answer the question indirectly, the young man pointed to the young purple haired woman standing next to Madame Boss.
Ariana had to stretch to look above the crowd of people, before she could finally lay her eyes on the young woman.
“That’s Mrs. Zerelda, Madame’s daughter, right?”
The young man glared at Ariana.
“No. Madame Boss may wish so, but Zerelda is just an ordinary member, with no relation to the Madame.” The young man elaborated before turning to leave, having become fed up with Ariana’s constant praise for Madame Boss.
“Hey, where do you think you’re going?!” Ariana shouted to the man as he walked out of the hall, before pursuing him.

It was a while later when Ariana finally found the young man - on a balcony looking down at the forest down below. Ariana slowly walked up to him.
“Erm...” she began timidly. The young man just glared at her.
“I’m sorry...” she began. “I don’t know what happened between you and Madame Boss but-”
“No need to apologise,” The young man said as he turned to face Ariana; her face strong but sweet at the same time. “It’s not your fault that woman is my mother.” He said with clenched teeth as his grip on the railing tightened.
“So what’s the son of the Boss doing as a mere Grunt?” a mocking, male voice laughed.
The young man and Ariana turned around to see a young man with teal hair, who was wearing the standard grunt uniform. “Seems odd don’t you think, Giovanni?” Giovanni cringed.
“How do you know my name?” he asked.
“I went through Team Rocket’s personnel files.” The man answered nonchalantly.
“W-What?” Ariana asked in disbelief. “But...only Elite Officers can go through the personnel files, and even then, they need to go through the proper channels-“
“Tsk tsk tsk” the man said as he waved his finger.
“I’m not a newbie like you two. I’ve been working here for a year already. I’m an Officer, and I have connections in the higher ranks.”
Giovanni smirked as he reached for his belt.
“So, you’re one of those people who rely on the success of others to advance themselves?” he asked the teal haired man, who looked confused.
“Is it wrong to look for others to help me rise to the top?” the man asked.
“When you put it like that...it really shows how little you know about this world!” Giovanni shouted as he grabbed a half-red and half-white ball from his belt, pressing a button on the centre of it causing it to enlarge.
“A Pokémon battle?” the young man asked with a hint of eagerness in his tone. “Well, maybe this will teach you not to disrespect your superiors!” the man shouted as he reached for his belt, and for a similar ball.
“Houndour, teach this disrespectful trash a lesson!” he shouted as he threw the ball, which burst open, a beam of white light shooting out and gathering on the ground. The light faded, and where it once was, a small black dog with a red underside stood. This was the Dark Pokémon, Houndour.
“Houn!” it barked in agreement with its master.
“Houndour...a dark and fire type.” Giovanni analysed. “A pretty feisty opponent normally, but Rhyhorn can take care of it!” he shouted furiously as he dropped his Pokéball, before kicking it towards Houndour. The ball opened, and in a similar fashion to Houndour’s release, a grey, rocky rhino thudded on the ground: the Spikes Pokémon.
“A fire type stands no chance against a ground type.” Ariana said in fear, but realised the situation. “Giovanni, we shouldn’t be battling here! Non-emergency situation battles are forbidden!” she shouted as she grabbed onto Giovanni’s arm.
“Don’t worry.” He slowly said, “This will end quickly.” He continued maliciously.
“Rhyhorn, show that rich brat your Horn Attack!” Giovanni commanded.
Without saying anything, Rhyhorn began to charge towards Houndour, who just stood there.
“What is wrong with you?” Ariana shouted, “Houndour’s gonna get crushed!”
“No it won’t.” The man said under his breath. “Fire Spin!”
At that moment, Houndour held its head back and close its mouth, before leaning forward and spewing out a spiral of flames that quickly surround Rhyhorn.
“Keep going, the flames won’t do much to your rock body!” Giovanni ordered. Rhyhorn blindly obeyed as it burst from the flame wall and rammed it’s small horn into Houndour, sending it flying a few feet in the air.
“Now, let me show you the difference between you and me. I can afford TMs, while you can’t! Houndour - Hidden Power!” At that point, mid-flight, Houndour began to glow a clear blue colour as orbs of the same corner began to materialise around it before all flying for Rhyhorn, quickly surrounding him.
“Rhy?” Rhyhorn asked in confusion before all the orbs flew at him, resulting in an explosion. Giovanni and Ariana covered their eyes to protect themselves from the dust. Once said dust had settled, Giovanni and Ariana could see Rhyhorn, lying unconscious on the ground. It had been knocked out.
“There you have it!” the teal-haired man shouted in joy as he recalled Houndour back into its Pokéball. “Here’s your proof - that you cannot get anywhere in this world without the help of another.”
Giovanni’s temper was rising with every word, until it reached boiling point.
“You arrogant snot! Who do you think you are?” he shouted as he picked up Rhyhorn’s pokéball, and returned it. The teal-haired man faced Giovanni with a menacing grin.
“I am Archer, an Officer of Team Rocket.” He said before walking off. “Remember that name, as the only Officer who you won’t be able to suck up to.”
At this point, Ariana decided to intervene, putting herself in front of Giovanni.
“With an attitude like yours, don’t expect us to come sucking up to you!” she shouted before turning back to Giovanni, who was trembling as he held Rhyhorn’s pokéball.
“Don’t worry, I’m sure he’s okay.” Ariana said with a harmonic softness as she placed her hand on the pokéball.
“It’s not that.” Giovanni said through clenched teeth as angry tears fell from his eyes. “I just...I hate people who have to rely on others, and can’t do anything for themselves.” This surprised Ariana, but she simply smiled.
“Your name’s Giovanni, right?” she said.
“Yeah.” Giovanni replied as he looked up at her.
“My name’s Ariana, pleasure to meet you.” The young girl smiled as she held her hand out. Giovanni hesitated for a second, but firmly grasped it, and shook her hand.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

Ariana broke out of her daydream as Giovanni pulled himself away from the table and placed his hat back on.
“You’re leaving already?” she asked.
“Yeah.” Giovanni replied bluntly as he reached into the pockets of his jacket before placing a couple of notes on the table. “That should cover the bill. Please don’t tell anyone I was here, okay?”
“Understood. Will I see you again?” Ariana asked as Giovanni walked to the door, stopping in the doorway.
“Who knows...and maybe next time our son will with us. Last time I saw him, he was the spitting image of his mother.” The mysterious man said just before walking out of the door. This excited Ariana.
“Wait, you’ve seen Max?!” she shouted as she turned out of the bar, but the street was empty.

Just for reference, I tried to make dub-style names for some characters who had unusual or Japanese-only names, so:
Miyamoto = Zerelda (If anyone gets the reference, they get a cookie)
Silver = Max

I am currently in the middle of writing the second instalment, but I'm also in the middle of A-Level exam revision, so I can't tell you when it will be up.

Step 2 is in the post below. Step 3 is here.

Re: Relaunch Sequence

Step 2: Eden's Jester
A sound of rapid clicking was all that could be heard from the room at the end of the corridor. This room was large, but all the tables and equipment in it made manoeuvrability rather difficult.
“This is a nightmare...” Blaine sighed as he leaned back in his chair. Blaine was an aged man, in his fifties. He had no hair, but did have a snow-white moustache that arched from his nose in an “^” shape. Blaine was sitting at a small desk with a computer resting on it. Behind the desk was a reasonably large tank, with a red fish inside. This fish was the Pokémon known as Magikarp, and was covered in electrodes. “There’s no way we’re gonna get this thing to evolve...”
“Well, we don’t have much time left.” Sebastian smirked as he stood behind Blaine, watching the Magikarp as he drank from his mug of coffee. Sebastian was around the same age as Blaine, but had hair; albeit greying. He also sported a grey goatee. “Arianna wants it completed by the end of the week.”
“If only we had the real Blaine here. Then we’d be able to get it done in time” Blaine sighed as he pulled away the skin mask, showing his true face and identity.
“Again with the disguises Petrel?” Sebastian asked rather seriously. “Between your impressions and Blaine’s riddles, it’s a wonder I’m not dead yet.”
Petrel was a middle aged man, his trademarks being a hunched back, short purple hair, and a purple goatee.
“Please don’t talk like that..it’s hard enough that I have to work harder without Blaine, but without you...I’d probably have to go on leave due to stress.” Petrel joked cryptically.
Sebastian took another sip of his coffee.
“We don’t need that coward anyway. He was scum.” Sebastian said.
“Blaine was a genius. However, his moral compass took control. If we hadn’t have lost Fuji, losing him wouldn’t have been such a big deal.” Petrel agreed as he thought back to days of old:

Dr. Fuji, a middle aged man with curly white hair and goatee was standing in front of two large tanks. Inside the tank was large amounts of orange liquid, and in each one of them was a rather peculiar sight.
In the first, was a creature that could only be described as a shaved, pink cat. In the other was a young girl, who looked around four or five years of age. She had long marine green hair, and was completely naked - with only a well-placed plaque bearing the name “Ambertwo” protecting her modesty. Strange tubes were stuck to various parts of her body, measuring her blood pressure, pulse and brain activity on charts above the tube.
The shaved cat received a similar treatment, except the plaque bore the name “Mewtwo”.
“We may have lost Bulbasaurtwo, Charmandertwo and Squirtletwo, but you two will survive. You two are superior to those Pokémon - clones of the most beautiful girl, and the most powerful Pokémon.” Dr. Fuji said enthusiastically as he approached the tanks.
Mr. Fuji’s intent admiring of the tanks was interrupted by Blaine, who approached his superior.
“Mr. Fuji, The boss is running out of patience. When will Mewtwo be ready?” Despite the bluntness of this question, Mr. Fuji picked up on a hint of regret in Blaine’s voice.
“You don’t want Mewtwo to the completed, do you?” Fuji asked. Blaine reluctantly tilted his head in a reluctant nod.
“I believe playing God is a grave sin.”
“And forcing animals to fight isn’t, Mr. Gym Leader?” Mr. Fuji blurted out. Blaine then realised that he hadn’t just insulted Mewtwo, but in saying that, he had insulted Ambertwo.
“My only concern is the answer to the riddle this raises: “If God created man, and man can create what God creates, who is God?”
Mr. Fuji couldn’t help but laugh.
“For once, a riddle that doesn’t end in a crude joke.”
Blaine could tell that Fuji wasn’t in a philosophical mood, so he returned to his desk on the other side of the room. When he got there, he was met by a younger Petrel, long before he had a goatee, which was still a soul patch. The future R&D chief was still an assistant back then.
“Here’s your tea Sir.” Petrel said politely as he handed Blaine a mug of tea.
“Don’t call me Sir.” Blaine sighed as he raised his hand in objection, “and you made that tea, you have it. I’m a sinner, and a sinner does not deserve courtesy.”
Petrel was confused with Blaine’s sudden statement, but resolved to drink the tea. After all, it was made to Blaine’s exact specifications, including using his personal berry tea bags.
“Anyway, Blaine. The boss was wondering when the project will be completed.”
Blaine thought about it for a while as he observed Mr. Fuji getting all lovey-dovey with Ambertwo.
“It’s tragic isn’t it?” Petrel commented as he joined in with the staring.
“Indeed it is. That girl is the only reason he agreed to this research.”
“And you?” Petrel asked. Blaine didn’t turn his head, but his eyes slowly drifted towards the new assistant.
“I was naive, and thought that it was for advancement of science.”
“And now?”
Blaine laughed a wry laugh.
“Well, I remembered that science isn’t there for the sake of it. I now know to what means my science is used for. The only reason I’m staying on is so that those who died for Mewtwo didn’t die in vain.” Blaine then raised his head towards the sky, as if addressing those up above.
“Who would have thought an A-Class Rocket like Zerelda would go missing.” Petrel shrugged, “Well, the Andes Mountains are pretty treacherous.”
“Indeed.” Was all Blaine said before returning to the papers on his desk.
“So, about that completion date...” Petrel nervously asked.
“We’ve only just lost Bulbasaurtwo, Charmandertwo and Squirtletwo. We need to make sure that Mewtwo, and Ambertwo, survive.”

Mewtwo began to develop as normal. However, Ambertwo died shortly after her friends. Mr. Fuji was broken. He’d sacrificed his life, money and marriage in exchange for the hope that he could bring his beloved daughter back to life. Without anything else, Mr. Fuji began to throw himself into keeping Mewtwo - the only Earthly connection with Amber he still has - alive.
Mewtwo continued to grow and grow, and the Research and Development department could feel a completion date coming. During this time, Madame Boss’ health began to deteriorate, mainly due to the shock of Zerelda’s disappearance, and she eventually had no choice but to name her son Giovanni, as the next leader of Team Rocket, and as such, he took control of the Mewtwo project.

Blaine and Petrel were dispatched on a mission to an island known only as “Faraway Island.” - the last known place where Mew was sighted, and the place where Team Rocket first encountered the elusive Pokémon.

“What’s the importance of retracing our steps?” Petrel asked as he cleaved away a lot of the foliage.
“Although the boss wants us to clone Mew, the original is still invaluable.” Blaine explained. “Now be careful, Mew has been known to be to transform and teleport.” Petrel suddenly stopped.
“So, how are we supposed to catch it?” he asked.
“What is caught all the time that we do not know when we catch it?” Blaine replied with one of his infamous riddles.
Petrel just stood there, bemused. Blaine sighed.
“Why do I even bother?” he asked under his breath as the two continued their trek.

It was now deep into the night and the sounds of numerous nocturnal Pokémon could be heard from the small tent that lay underneath a particularly large tree.
The zip of the tent came down as Petrel stepped out, holding a bag in his hand.
“I’m just going to take a quick stroll, try and see if have a lake nearby.”
There was no reply from Blaine, who was most likely asleep.

The next morning, Blaine opened up the tent and expected to see Petrel again.
He didn’t.
“Where could he be?” Blaine asked himself as he looked around. “Oi Petrel!” he shouted, but no answer came. Blaine thought back to what Petrel said this morning, and decided to head into the jungle to search.

Petrel was standing near the top of a waterfall, having just finished putting on a skin-cap to complete his Blaine disguise when he picked up on the sound of light rustling in the nearby bushes.
“Better not be another Rattata...” Petrel sighed as he turned around. A quick pink blur was all he saw.

Blaine was walking through the foliage calling out for Petrel, but no matter how far he strayed, an answer failed to reach his ears.
However, after a while, Blaine found himself face to face with himself.
“I knew your bag was big. You stuck a disguise in there?” Blaine sighed. The other Blaine however, didn’t speak; he just stuck his tongue out.
Blaine sighed.
“Come on Petrel, enough with the tricks. We have to look for Mew.”
The other Blaine turned around and began to walk away. Blaine grabbed the other Blaine’s shoulder.
“Look, we have a job to do.”
The other Blaine quickly pulled his arm away and took a step back. The other Blaine had an angry look on his face.
“W-What’s up Petrel? You’re usually not this touchy.”
The other Blaine then lunged for Blaine. Blaine held out his arms in defence, but was shocked to see a third Blaine appear from the foliage and restrain the second Blaine from behind.
“W-What’s going on?” Blaine asked as he looked at the very confusing scene in front of him.
“It’s...Mew...” the third Blaine said as the second Blaine (Mew) struggled to escape.
“M-Mew?” Blaine was suddenly filled with elation as he reached into one of his lab coat pockets and threw the Pokéball he retrieved from it.
In a flash of red light, a unicorn with flames running across it’s back and surrounding its hoofs rushed forwards.
“Use Poison Jab Rapidash!” Blaine shouted as the unicorn’s horn began to glow purple before the beast charged towards Mew and the third Blaine. Mew turned around and dodged the Poison Jab attack by transforming into a Rapidash and using Poison Jab on Blaine’s Rapidash. Blaine’s flaming unicorn screamed in pain as the wound on its side became infected, poisoning the Pokémon.
Blaine looked concerned, but ordered his Rapidash to fight through the pain.
“Use Take Down! We can’t let Mew escape!”
Blaine’s Rapidash charged towards Mew.
Just as if it was a mirror, Mew launched its own Take Down attack.
The two beasts clashed, using their horns like spears trying to pierce the other. Mew tried to gain the advantage by using Flare Blitz, but regardless of how hard it pushed, Blaine’s Rapidash wasn’t moving.
“Thank goodness for Flash Fire.” Blaine said to himself confidently.
“Petrel, do you have the Master Ball?” Blaine shouted to the second Blaine, who stammered.
“H-How did you know it was me?” Petrel asked, taking off his skin-cap, allowing his real face to shine through.
“You have to work on your disguises!” Blaine shouted back with a smile. Petrel returned the smile as he took a strange looking Pokéball from his belt. Unlike the conventional Pokéball, the top half was purple, with two red dots painted on either side. A white “M” was painted above the ball’s button. It was the “Master Ball”, an experimental ball made by Team Rocket, which is said to be able to catch any Pokémon without fail.
Blaine’s Rapidash used the last of its strength to hit Mew with a direct Take Down attack before fainting. The attack causing Mew to revert to its original, pink cat-like form. It was then when Petrel threw the Master Ball.
It was then Mew closed its eyes and began to concentrate its energy into a blue orb forming in front of it.
Mew fired the ball, an Aura Sphere, at the Master Ball. The two collided. The Master Ball was completely destroyed.
Mew giggled as Blaine and Petrel just stood there, gobsmacked. The cute Pokémon then let out a final “Mew” before teleporting away.
Blaine just looked at Petrel before shrugging.
“Guess the apple isn’t ready to be picked from the Garden of Eden yet.” He said.
“So, we’re going to give up?” Petrel asked. Blaine nodded.
“We only have one Master Ball. Do you expect a legendary Pokémon like that to be caught in an Ultra Ball?”
Petrel looked at Blaine, and could tell that wasn’t the real reason he wanted to quit.
“You never wanted to catch Mew, did you?”
Blaine turned around and straightened his jacket before answering.
“Science is for enhancing human knowledge. Not for surpassing God.” Blaine said before walking off. Petrel quickly hurried after.

When the two of them returned to the Cinnabar Island lab, all they could see was fire. The entire laboratory had been destroyed.
“W-What happened?!” Blaine asked in horror.
“It’s simple really.” A rather sly voice replied. Blaine and Petrel turned around to see Sebastian standing behind them. He too looked younger than he does now, but barely.
“Mewtwo escaped. Everyone present during said escape perished.”
Petrel began to cry. Earning him a sharp look from Sebastian, and a reassuring pat on the back from Blaine.
“Don’t worry. He’s with Amber now.”
Blaine then looked up at Sebastian.
“Who are you anyway?” he enquired. Sebastian chuckled.
“I’m Sebastian. Your new boss.”

“And some three years after that, Blaine up and left.” Petrel sighed as he slunk back on his chair and stroked his goatee.
“Indeed. He forgot the true aims of science, and Team Rocket.” Sebastian elaborated.
“To triumph over all others.” Petrel recited . “Or is it?”
“Don’t tell me you’re taking after him.” Sebastian laughed . “Anyway, hurry up on the Pokémon Evolution Project. We have no time to waste.” He said as he left the room.
Petrel couldn’t help but look up into the sky, thinking to himself Where are you Blaine? And what are you doing?

Blaine recalled his Magmar as his latest Gym Battle had ended. The opponent’s Pikachu was no match for the fire Pokémon’s fire blast attack. Blaine took off his white hat and wiped the sweat off his forehead before returning the hat to his head.
“Great job Magmar.” Blaine smiled as he turned around and walked away from the arena.

Re: Relaunch Sequence (Step 2 is UP!)

amazing the best fan fiction i ever read

Re: Relaunch Sequence (Step 2 is UP!)

I think you need to double space between paragraphs more
You mean have double lines like this:
Bla bla bla

bla bla

or just break up the text more, to create smaller paragraphs?
I think that problem stems from me writing on MS word rather than the forum itself. But sure, it's only a mere formatting issue (The former), so I'll be happy to oblige.

Re: Relaunch Sequence (Step 2 is UP!)

I noticed something was different, as I usually double space in word. Thanks for the tip.

Re: Relaunch Sequence (Step 2 is UP!)

Wow...someone reads this? =D

Anyway, I have currently been caught in the bureaucracy of student finance, so Step 3 (Which is about 50% completed) has had to be placed on the back-burner for a bit. However, I hope for it to be up in the next couple of weeks.

Sorry...I wish there wasn't so much bureaucracy either xD

Re: Relaunch Sequence (Step 2 is UP!)

I want to thank you all for your patience. Unfortunately, this chapter was delayed due to the problems I had with sorting out Student Finance. To make up for that, and because this chapter was so highly anticipated, the length of this chapter is only roughly 300 words off being the length of the two previous chapters, combined. Unfortunately, due to other commitments, I will have to put this series on hold until further notice - but if I can find the time, I will post the final chapter up.

Also, I tried the four-spacing in word, but for some reason, it still came up as single spaced. So apologises for that - but I hope you can understand that I'm not going to go through 3,726 words just to add extra spaces xD

Now, without further ado, I present the next chapter:

Step 3: Poison Girl's Vaccine

Fuchsia City, a beautiful tourist-laden city on the Southern coast of the Kanto region. Famous among families for its Pokémon Zoos and among trainers for the Safari Zone and the Pokémon Gym, this city was always among the list of top places to visit in Kanto, and every day came a new wave of tourists.
Fuchsia City is also known for its Dojo, where Koga teaches classes of children and adults the ancient art of Ninjutsu. However, Koga’s Dojo serves a darker purpose - there, he also trains new recruits of the infamous Team Rocket.

Koga was a middle aged man, although he was at the peak of health. He wore rather standard black Shinobi Shōzoku with red rings at the end of the sleeves and trouser legs. A red neck-tie sized cap flowed down his upper back. Koga stood perfectly straight as he glared at the dozen Team Rocket grunts practicing before him. Koga had fairly thick eyebrows, which only helped to make his stares even more intense. Every morning, he’d pit his students against each other in one on one combat, so he can sieve out the dedicates from the sissies. All of his students were instructed to wear plain Keikogi and a number on their back. One such student, was Proton.
Proton was eighteen years old, with light blue-green hair and matching eyes. His hair was short, but bulky at the sides. Proton wasn’t agile like the other students. He wouldn’t dodge, he’d take each attack head on, and deal a blow back to his attacker. However, this form of defence wasn’t subtle like ninjutsu, so Koga disapproved of it.
“Number twenty-seven!” Koga shouted from the front of the hall. Proton turned around as his mentor appeared directly in front of him in a speed one would describe as teleportation.
“Yes Mast-” Proton began as he turned around, but he only met Koga’s blur of a fist, before being kicked in the stomach.
“You can only block that which you see, and you will not always have a chance to return fire.” Koga said firmly. The entire class were now fixated on this brutal scene.
Koga walked over the groaning teenager with a condescending smirk. “The speciality of the ninja is espionage; the agility of such ties in with combat. Standing around and doing nothing is not the shinobi way”. Proton smirked.
“But how can you dodge what you can’t see?” Proton said confidently as he swung his lower legs, tripping up Koga. The other students cheered in admiration that Proton had just landed a blow on Master Koga. The spiky-haired middle-aged man smiled however, as he swung his arms behind the back of his head, and pushed them against the ground resulting in him in doing a back flip before landing on his feet. At that point, the cheering stopped.
“Because when dodging, you become aware of your surroundings which allows you to use them to your advantage. In blocking, your vision becomes narrow.”
Koga stretched a bit, returning to his usual stoic composure. “Class is now over. I’ll see you all tomorrow.” Koga announced as he left the room. Proton watched his master leave, with the rest of the class following, but not without grinning and giggling as they walked by Proton, who had just made a fool of himself.

Proton had gotten changed and was now walking out of the Fuchsia Dojo when a young woman ran towards him. She was Janine, Master Koga’s daughter. Janine was sixteen years old and had purple hair tied up at the back, due to a mixture of her father constantly telling her that long hair will only get in the way, and her reluctance to have it cut. Her clothes were the same as her father’s, except purple instead of red. Janine was a rather petite woman, with her head only coming up to Proton’s chest. However, she was curvy - a detail Proton was quick in noticing. She also had nice hips, which were a plus...for him at least. “Here Proton, you look exhausted.” Janine cheerfully smiled as she held out a bottle of water.
“Is that...for me?” Proton asked surprisingly.
“Yeah, of course.” Janine smiled with a smile that deserved a heavenly choir.
“I don’t need your pity.” Proton pouted.
“Pity? Why would I pity you?” Janine asked as she pushed the bottle of water closer to Proton.
“You saw me today. Your Dad made a fool out of me.” Proton sighed. “He just doesn’t get that I’m not a speedy person.”
Janine couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Actually, you got him pretty flustered. You see how straight he can stand in class. It’s nice to see Dad on edge once in a while.” She smiled.
Proton sighed and finally accepted the bottle. Opening it and taking a swig.
“See? You were thirsty. You can’t hide anything from me.” Janine laughed.
“Women’s Intuition?” Proton mocked. He was fed up with that phrase.
“No, you’re just easy to read.” Janine winked.
Proton smiled. However, that was cut short by a woman tugging on Janine’s arm.
Janine turned around to see Aya behind her. Aya was Janine’s Aunt; Koga’s younger sister. Aya had long dark-green hair, and wore a bright pink Shinobi Shōzoku. Aya was taller than Janine, but smaller than Koga.
“Come on Janine. We must head home now.” Aya whispered in Janine’s ear.
“Aww, do we have to?” Janine whined like a little girl as she turned to face Aya. Aya had a stern face like her brother.
“We do. You know what your father is like when you’re late.”
Janine’s face turned into a childish pout. However, she knew she had no choice in the matter, and turned around, showing her back to Proton.
“See you in class tomorrow.” She said, with a formal disguise before she and Aya walked off.
Proton drank the last of the water and threw the bottle into a nearby bin. He chuckled to himself as he watched Janine walk away.

It was dinner in the Koga Dojo. Koga, Aya and Janine were in the dining room, which, like most rooms in the dojo, was constructed to be a Washitsu - A Japanese-style room with tatami matting on the floor. The three of them were kneeling on traditional Zabuton cushions, before a slightly raised table. In front of each person was a cup of green tea and a plate, which were now empty. Koga was admiring the many portraits hung around the upper wall of the intimate room.
“Isn’t it wonderful Janine? Look at our ancestors. At one point, they all were the Leader of this Dojo, and not one of them was female. Doesn’t being the first female owner of the Koga Dojo inspire you?” he asked. Aya had the uninterested expression that signalled that this wasn’t the first time Koga had asked it.
“Father...what is the point of this Dojo?” Janine asked her father as she looked in the opposite direction. Her eyes reflecting a faraway place. Koga was shocked at this question.
“That’s simple. To pass on the Koga-style Ninjutsu that our ancestors spent their lives developing.”
“Passing it on to...criminals?” Janine asked as her eyes darted to meet her father’s. Koga quickly looked to the floor.
“Everyone has money troubles at some point. Team Rocket agreed to help us out if we help out with their training.”
Janine bit her lip.
“Don’t worry my little Camellia blossom, apart from that, I have no connection to Team Rocket.” Koga said with a reassuring smile.
“Sure. Thanks Da-I mean Father.” Koga’s reassuring smile turned into a humoured one.
“No need for formality outside of class.”
“Okay then...thanks Daddy” Janine smiled. “Anyways, I’m going to practice now.” The young girl said as she stood up. She bowed to Koga and Aya before leaving the room, closing the Shoji screen door as she left. Once the sound of her footsteps had faded, Aya gave Koga a quick, sharp glare.

The next day was a particularly hot one. Janine walked out of the dojo wiping sweat off her forehead.
“Catch” a familiar voice called out. Janine raised her arm and caught a cold bottle of water without even raising her head.
“You really are the heir to the Koga Family!” Proton laughed as he walked over to the petite kunoichi. Janine looked up at the young man. The sun highlighting his masculine jaw and his fiery eyes.
“I-It’s nothing really...” Janine said as she turned away, trying to avoid eye contact.
“I doubt it. You’ve got real talent. Anyway, that bottle is to repay you for yesterday.”
Janine quickly spun around and looked Proton in the eyes.
“You don’t have to repay me for anything.” She said as she thrust the bottle against him. “I brought you one yesterday to thank you. You don’t repay thanks.”
“Then I’m giving you this as thanks.” Proton said as he gently too hold of Janine’s hand and moved it back to her.
“T-Thanks for what?” Janine asked, her cheeks growing as pink as a Camellia petal.
“For coming with me to the Safari Zone this weekend. Y’see, I need help catching a Slowpoke.” Janine gave Proton a sceptical look.
“Are you trying to ask me out?”
Proton laughed.
“If that’s the way you want to see it.”
Janine blushed. Her pink Camellia cheeks turned into red roses.
“W-Wait, t-that’s not what I-“ Proton placed his hand on Janine’s head. Janine found it relaxing as his fingers brushed through her purple hair.
“Safari Zone Gate, Saturday at Ten?” Proton asked as he lifted his hand from her silky hair.
“Sure.” Janine nervously replied.

It was night time now. Janine was walking to the dojo gate when she noticed a shadow on the floor, standing above that of the gate. Janine looked up to see her father , who was wielding a sterner face than usual.
“Hi Daddy.”
“Don’t ‘Hi Daddy’ me.” Koga said, irritated. Janine was unnerved.
“W-What’s wrong?” Janine asked, too nervous to move as she saw her father’s intimidating figure looking down on her.
“That Proton boy.” Koga replied, his eyes as sharp as kunai. Janine managed to produce a wry smile.
“Daddy, I’m sixteen now. Let me make my own choices.”
“I won’t let you make the wrong ones.” Koga replied.
Janine’s head slumped as she recalled her father’s controlling attitude in the past. Even when she was a little girl, he had to choose the colour of her bedroom curtains, he had to choose where her birthday parties were, and he chose who to invite. Janine felt like she had no control, especially since her Mum died.
“Y’know, I’m sick of you controlling me!” Janine shouted in an outburst , that to Koga, who had not seen the pressure building up over the years, seemed random. However, after he had got over the initial shock, Koga chuckled at a hilarity only he saw.
“Control? I’ve been protecting you.” Koga said, as if it was blaringly obvious.
“Blindfolding me isn’t protecting me!” Janine shouted back. “Mum always said that the best way to learn something is to experience it!”
Koga’s stern face finally broke as tears swelled up in his eyes, and fell down his cheeks. Koga swung his head downwards, so his daughter could not see him cry.
“Your mother died, because there was no one to protect her...” Koga said quietly, but audibly.
“I’d rather die a free bird than live in a cage!” Janine shouted as she turned around, tears now streaming from her face. However, as she tried to run away, Koga appeared before her in a flash, and embraced her.
“I understand. “ Koga cried as he held his daughter tight. “Your mother was the same. However, trust me. I was there to see her make mistakes; she may no longer be here to guide you, but I am. Please trust me, don’t meet up with Proton on Saturday.”
Janine gently pushed her father’s arms apart and looked him in the eyes.
“Why father?” she asked. This time not with teenage rebellion, but with trust.
Koga slowly raised his left hand, using it to wipe away his daughters tears.
“I admit, I was acting rash. I watched him using Golbat, and I saw some sickening things.”
Janine was surprised, but she decided to over-look that. There was a more pressing matter o her mind.
“What did you see?” she asked bluntly. Koga hesitated.
“Daddy...well, I guess Dad would be more appropriate now; I’m a woman now. Please don’t protect me from what I need to know.”
Koga sighed. His little girl had grown up into a beautiful, responsible woman.
“You’re just like your mother.” Koga smiled as he took a small Pokéball from his belt. The ball enlarged as the ninja pressed the centre button. As it opened, a small stream of red light burst from it and a dark blue bat appeared. This bat was mostly mouth and wings, with tiny feet.
“Gol!” the bat shouted as it flew around Koga, happy to be free.
“Golbat, please show my da-I mean, this young woman, what number twenty-seven is doing now.” Golbat smiled, signalling its understanding as a supersonic cry emanated from the bat’s mouth. Janine leaned in to look deep into the bat’s mouth as an image began to materialise.
Proton was sitting on a bench next to Fuchsia Zoo’s magnificent water habitats. Next to him was a young woman with short pink hair. The two of them were snuggling up to each other.
“Dad...I’m sorry.” Janine said as the tears began to flood back. However, these were angry tears. Koga sighed as he looked at the young woman who was once a babe in his arms. He could finally sympathise.
“Janine, I have to head inside, I’ll probably be gone by the time you wake up. Please, don’t do anything reckless.” Koga said as he gave his daughter one last glance and walked towards the house. “Prove to me that you’re all grown up - make me proud!” Koga shouted as he waved. Jasmine looked up at the moon, her eyes burning with a fierce glow. She wanted answers.

“So, next Saturday, you’ll help me catch a Slowpoke?” Proton asked delicately as he stroked the young girl’s face. Her cheeks were as pink as her hair.
“Y-Yes. A-anything for you...” she replied. She wasn’t nervous, she was choked for words to say in this moment, that to her, was a dream come true.
“Thanks, because I’ve never been to the Safari Zone before.” Proton smiled as he raised his other hand. As said hand neared the young girl’s lap, it was firmly grabbed.
Proton recognised the petite hand wrapped around his wrist, and looked behind him to see Janine. Janine was panting - although she was trained by her father, and was at the top of her class, even she had her physical limits.
“So it’s true.” Janine confirmed, shaking with anger, and the realisation of her position. “You used me.”
“Who is she?” the young girl asked Proton, who was looking horrified.
“She’s no-one.” Proton said, trying to regain a confident composure.
“I’m no-one am I? Then why did you wait for ‘no-one’ after class?” Janine loudly said as he tugged on Proton, pulling him closer to her. “I believed you!” Janine shouted before head butting the cheater. The young pink-haired girl didn’t know whether to cushion Proton as he was thrust against the back of the bench or not. She was utterly confused.
“W-What is she saying Proton? Who is this woman?” the girl asked.
“I’m just that.” Janine replied as she stepped closer to the bench, and grabbed Proton by the collar of his shirt. “I’m just a woman. A woman who was fooled by this jerk.” Janine said without looking away from the man she now considered scum. Proton gave her a cocky look, as if somehow, he had won.
“Why did I expect anything but lies from a member of Team Rocket?” the distraught girl asked.
“Why don’t you ask your father?!” Proton shouted with joyful desperation.
“What are you talking about?” Janine asked as she clenched her fist.
“Commander Koga of Team Rocket! He, Surge and Sabrina take orders directly from the boss.” Proton laughed manically.
“You’re lying!” Janine shouted furiously. “Dad said he wasn’t with Team Rocket - that him training them is as far as it goes!”
Proton wouldn’t stop laughing.
“Didn’t you just say that you shouldn’t expect anything but lies from a member of Team Rocket?”
The young Camellia’s face was flooded with a furious red colour. Janine put all her might into kicking the man through the bench, and onto the ground below.
“Never dishonour Dad like that! I’ll kill if you speak ill of him again!” Janine tearfully shrieked as she drew a kunai knife from the pouch that hung from her waist.
Proton pushed himself up, so he was sat upright. He looked at the two girls, one was crying angry tears, the other, sad tears.
“This is why women annoy me...always so emotional.” He said to himself as he stood himself up, and brushed the dirt of his trousers. “Also, they’re so unrealistic. Like you could kill me!” Proton laughed as he pulled his right arm back and ran towards the bench, jumping off it to propel him. Janine positioned herself to counter. Proton thrust his fist forward.
The fist was blocked, by the pink-haired girl.
“Is this...true Proton? Are you cheating?” she asked, unable to look the fierce man in the eyes.
“What do you care?” Proton replied as he used his other hand to slap her across the face. “I doubt you’d even make good cannon-fodder. Give up on Team Rocket!” he laughed as he she fell to the floor. She just lay there, crying. Janine was gone.
Then it happened.
Proton felt pressure on the back of his leg, and could only turn his head in time to see himself falling. Janine had snuck up behind him, and kicked the back of his knee. Janine’s eyes were full of tears, and her face was still bright red, but she had a triumphant smirk on her face.
As Proton fell backwards, Janine hit his chest, forcing him down harder.
“There.” She said as she turned away.
“Ha, I thought you said you could kill me!” Proton shouted, like a savage animal.
“I could, but I wouldn’t condemn myself to hell for the likes of you. Now, tell me about my father.” Janine said before throwing her kunai between Proton’s legs. “Or I will hit you where it hurts.” Proton gulped, knowing her had no choice.
“I was sent to this city by Commander Surge to train under Commander Koga. As I said before, they respond directly to our Leader. Lately, there has been a lot of tension between the gym leaders, especially regarding a small group of trainers. That is all I know.”
“I see...” Janine softly said as she looked to the girl on the floor. “I’ll call an ambulance, but please forget that I was here.”
The young girl nodded. Janine then walked off, knowing where to go next. She had her revenge, now she wanted the truth.

Koga had left by the time Janine arrived home. All she could do was go to bed as usual.
“Erm...Janine.” Aya said as she knocked on Janine’s bedroom door the following morning.
“What is it?” Janine answered with a yawn.
“It’s about your father.”
Janine quickly kicked her bed sheets off and flung her bedroom door open. Aya looked worried, and sad.
“W-What is it?” Janine asked, expecting the worst.
“Koga has gone missing...” Aya told her, holding back a waterfall of tears.
Janine slumped to her knees, and began sobbing.
“Last night he was sent to the Silph Company in Saffron City following recent unrest in Team Rocket. The building collapsed last night. Half of Kanto’s Gym Leaders are missing.” Aya couldn’t take it any longer, and had to run away before bursting into tears.

From that day, Janine assumed ownership of the Koga Dojo . She and Aya managed to use the disbandment of Team Rocket to purge their Dojo of its past involvement with them. Although it took tense negotiations, especially considering the alleged actions of the last Gym Leader, Janine was allowed to take over the Fuchsia Pokémon Gym as well.
It was on the day Janine was handed the keys to the Gym that a letter arrived. It was the first correspondence from Koga in a long time. It read:
“Dear my Darling Janine,
I am so sorry for all of this, and more importantly, for lying to you. I didn’t tell you because I wanted to protect you, but we’ve both found out that I can’t do that well. I wish you the best of luck with the gym. Don’t worry about Proton, I sent him back to Surge - I wouldn’t want to see his face again either. I probably won’t be able to return for some time; the ‘Good Gym Leaders’ are still hunting me and the others down, and I’m currently training to take on the Elite 4.
With all my love,

Dad.”

After that short letter, all anger for her father subsided. She was ashamed at her father’s past, not her father as a whole. Unfortunately, not everyone shared these sentiments, so she chose to focus on his Gym Leader career, and how the Fuchsia Gym was made famous for its tricks, which were all made by Koga. To Janine, her father was the former Gym Leader, not a member of Team Rocket. She wanted for her and everyone else to forget that part, and to see her father again.

It was two years later when the cocky, uniformed Proton was standing before the white-suited Archer. Proton had a female grunt on each arm. Arthur was standing up, preparing to give a speech in front of the Team Rocket higher ups, including Commander Ariana and Commander Petrel.
“In honour of your fierce dedication to the organisation, and for your actions both on and off the battle field, it is with great pleasure that I, Archer, the Leader of Team Rocket, give you, Proton, the title of Commander Proton, the Heartbreaker.”

OMG! This third chapter was awesome! :-D

...and what is it with everyone and their grandma casting Proton as a playboy? :XD2: Is it that fan he had during the Goldenrod Radio Tower incident, perhaps?

And, heck, poor Janine... :-(

It's also odd, but in a good way, how the different canon verses merge in this third chapter just like in the previous ones :)

You know that I love your story, and that I've read it all. Sorry for not replying before.

With Proton, it's mostly his posture in the official artwork and the look on his face that screams 'I only care about myself'. Plus, those hips...

And yeah, I love canon merging. It's surprisingly easy.

amazing the best edition yet so awsome words can not describe this

EDIT:Miyamoto = Zerelda (If anyone gets the reference, they get a cookie)

Miyamota is jessies mom who disappeared during her mission to capture mew and what you said before giovanni is jessie's uncle!

Correct on Zerelda being Jessie's Mother who disappeared while investigating Mew. However, I said that Madame Boss wishes Zerelda was her daughter, not is.

Also, Zerelda is the name of Jessie James' mother.
