They'll be starting on the 21st, around when fall really starts to kick in. A few reminders about the ground rules:

*YOU CANNOT VOTE OR NOMINATE FOR YOURSELF.


*WRITER'S WORKSHOP MODS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO NOMINATE OR VOTE. MODS OF OTHER SECTIONS, HOWEVER, CAN.

*PROVIDE A GOOD EXPLANATION FOR WHY YOU ARE NOMINATING OR VOTING FOR A FIC. NO BULLSHIT LIKE "I LIKE IT." PROVIDE SOMETHING SUBSTANTIAL, OR THE NOMINATION/VOTE WILL BE REJECTED.

*NO ABUSE OF MULTIPLE/SOCK ACCOUNTS TO VOTE OR NOMINATE MULTIPLE TIMES

*DURING THE VOTING STAGE OF THE AWARDS, EACH VOTER MUST READ A CHAPTER FROM EACH NOMINATED FIC.
 
How will you know if the person has read one chapter?
 
Should there be a rule for the nomination period in which a fic/character can be only be nominated once for each category, so each story has a chance to be nominated?

Yeah. All nominations/votes must be in one post. You can nominate/vote for as many categories as you like, as long as you do so for each category only once, and all nominations or votes are in a single post.

Quite frankly, that sounds good in theory but wouldn't work in practice.
 
Wait, if all nominations/votes are in a single post, then the first few people to nominate get screwed, because they can't vote later on, unless they edit it and you go through at the end... is that what you're doing (the count up at the end, including edits)?

I already have 5-page essays as to why I'm nominating my favorite fics.

That's why I'm only nominated fics I've read a good deal of.

No, because the nominations are to see what fics get to be drawn for each category to be voted on. All nominated fics will be able to be voted on when voting starts. And you can only vote once.

You can edit your post later on with additional votes, but you CANNOT vote more than once for a fic/character.
 
Is a fic taken out of the running during nominations after it has already been nominated once? What is the point of havin fics being nominated more than once?
 
OK. So we have to say something like:
"I believe that .... has an interesting writing style and the story has really captured my attention."
Just short and sweet?
 
We have to explain ourselves when we nominate or vote? Certainly not both.

It is very redundant and a bit pointless, but it's not like it's that hard to do if that's what the higher-ups want. A couple short sentences about what you liked about a story isn't that much to ask. I'm fine with it.
