Report mistake button?

This would be pretty cool especially for users who don't want to edit the articles (or don't have the power to).

My idea would be there would be a report mistake button then a little pop-up comes up and it'll ask you what's wrong with it. And then the user can type in a mistake that was wrong with the article or what it is missing then if someone is able to edit it and fix it then the issue can be solved.

I love this site so much and I go on it all the time, but i notice every once in a while there's some data that isn't there and it'd be cool to do that (I don't remember any off the top of my head)

Edit the article. If it's something major on a temporarily-protected page, ask whoever protected it. Overall, you'd be putting in the same effort, posting on a talk page, posting a mistake report, or actually editing the article. Only difference is, editing the article, and doing it well gets you the ability to edit the userspace sooner (and thus the whole reason anyone makes a Bulbapedia account, am I right?).

Being part of the community means contributing to it. I didn't get where I am by hiding behind anonymous reports to Pie and Zhen. I put my neck out there, I threw my hat into the ring, and I started pages we needed.

Well of course there is, but with all of the overload on the servers and to some technically challenged people that could be easier.

If you think about it, probably many people editing is causing a lot of server problems, hense it being so slow right now which cause it to be locked right? Couldn't that idea have less people editing yet have an equal amount of contribution?

Sorry if this sounds really stupid, but I thought it could be kinda useful for some of those people that want to suggest something, but don't wanna go through making an account, editing it, etc. just to show it ya know? It may want to encourage more people to submit more suggestions.

The overload to the servers is temporary at best. We jumped from 2 to 5 around HGSS's release, and traffic's been STILL so high we haven't properly synced them. We're doing the best we can.

As for technically challenged people... it's a wiki, not HTML. With HTML, you would have to put < a href="http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pikachu_(Pokémon)">Pikachu< /a> to get what we do with {{p|Pikachu}}. < a href="http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Cianwood_City">Cianwood City< /a>, for [[Cianwood City]]. Templates more or less would become an absolute pain in the ass. The wiki would be ugly as hell. I'm not that good with any "real" markup language, but you know, I learned. I wasn't awesome with wikicode back when I joined up. Look at this. This is my first mainspace edit. It sucked. I added what I knew, though, and that's what's important. I learned how to edit by looking at the pages and seeing how they were coded. I began to understand.

And consider this. We've got a bunch of people who can edit right now. Are they? Of course. Do they have lives? Of course. We're not BulbaBot. Less people editing means less contribution overall, and further through it, less adhesion between members of the community. Just ask anyone who edits the wiki regularly, or even some of the occasional ones. Why is Bulbagarden the strong community it is? Because unlike other places, it's not just "oh hey we the admins built this website, here's your content, come back tomorrow for more BW news". When I first came to Bulbagarden, I was one of the noobs. An unwashed outsider, who knew very little about the admins, policies, or anything else. I wasn't that good at writing articles, either. I learned. Quickly.

I don't see why you wouldn't want to go through making an account anyway. It hides the ads we have in the mainspace. And from there, hey, you can do anything but create pages outside of the talkspace until you're a verified editor. Heck, you'll probably get a welcome in around five minutes, anyway, considering how we operate. And through editing, eventually you're autoconfirmed, and poof, you have free reign to edit.

Also, by the way. Nearly all of the active members of the Bulbapedia staff registered long after Bulbapedia came into being, mostly after I did. They learned how to make it look good. Come on, man, what hope is there for a future where we take over the political arena if you're afraid of contributing to a wiki!

Then they can register and either fix it or post it on the talk page.

There are plenty of mistakes that I've tried to fix that I couldn't because the page was blocked. Actually, the only one that really mattered was the one on the "Pokémon universe". Apparently, TTEchidna protected that page about four months ago, and now I can't go in and remove the stub tag, which clearly does not apply to that article anymore.

There was one that I tried to edit the link - the main BW page, actually. (I posted the new link, but nobody paid any attention to it.) The site link was outdated, but about 12 hours later, the site was redirected on TPC's servers anyway. I'm more of a WikiGnome than anything, cleaning up spelling and pruning articles.

Actually, now that I come to think about it, the "report mistake" would be a horrible idea - the false positive rate due to speculation would be just too high, and it would be annoying on top of that.

The Pokémon universe article really began to fall to crap; it still is. Someone needs to make it not so.

Oh gawd, I can just imagine the sort of stuff editors would have to sift through...

where is the evidence that these "fossils" are actually the remains of ancient pokemon? we know from the bible that the pokemon universe is only 6000 years old. isn't it more likely that God just put the fossils there as a sort of joke? and to test us of course.

There is a misplaced period in the second-to-last sentence in this article. Please correct this. I cannot correct this myself because the site wants me to register an account, in what I'm sure is a blatant ploy to steal my personal data.

i find the insistence on covering this "racist controversy" to be typical of the liberal bias that infects bulbapedia. please keep in mind that many of your users are right-thinking conservatives who do not care for this enforced political correctness.

okay, this has gone on for long enough. i have tolerated this sickening liberal bias and pro-darwinist dogma on bulbapedia for long enough. but now this blatantly revisionist site is trying to tell me that the series i love was created by a NON-AMERICAN FOREIGNER? i will be lied to no longer. i am setting up my own wiki, ConservaBulbaPedia, for those right-thinking pokemon fans who want the honest, God-fearing TRUTH about the series.

Very funny, but very true. A report error button would generate a lot more spam than regular editing (which in regular editing would be vandalism). I would think that it would be much harder to prevent unregistered error reports than registered editing. There would have to be some error reports moderators to delete about half of the error reports that go through (most people who are serious would actually register). Regardless, registration is not hard, and if the article is locked the talk pages are there for that reason (and others too). But also as TTE said, making an account is easy AND it hides ads, so there is very little reason NOT to make one.

BTW: My favorite one is #2759.

And #2765 is better.

This.

And by "speculation", I also wanted to include "spam" in that list. So no harm is done.

I originally signed up not to block ads, but to post my information about the base payouts of trainer classes. It still hasn't gotten anywhere yet >_>

And I originally signed up to add tiny information. An article buds. I honestly don't know where to put that, though. Maybe, MAYBE on Pokémon dollar...

Perhaps. But we need the info first. I don't have it for all of them.

Well go find him, he caused three hundred bucks' damage to my car and I owe him a knuckle sandwich.

Wait, what? (Back to the Future reference, apparently. But I still don't get it.)
