Revamp prizes for battling?

I know this might be an extremely radical idea and it has a very low chance of being implemented but could be interesting to implement. Trainers (only "street" trainers) might offer up an item as a prize for beating them. Granted, not all trainers would do so and those who do might not offer up cash.

I thought of this after I remembered Nugget Bridge in generation I.

Granted, it would be hard to implement this without breaking the game but why not make it so that some items could only be obtained this way?

Also, if you knock out a wild pokémon shouldn't there be a small (15% chance) that you get their held item? Again, possible game breaker but it is dampened somewhat by the fact that it would be easier to use Covet/Thief.
 
I think this would be a very exciting idea. I loved Nugget Bridge, and anything similar could be a lot of fun. The problem is, money from battles is the best way to earn money throughout the game, so the items would have to be given out along with the money for balance. But, I don't see the harm in throwing in some potions, pokeballs, or other trinkets. Good idea!
 
I've had this idea for years, where there would be a battle house where TONS of trainers were, all of different level classes, and their parties would change every day. You can battle each one once, and upon defeating a certain block (1-10 etc) in one day, you earn some form of item. The first prize would be a Gold Berry (it was 2002), and the highest prize would be a Rare Candy.

As well, it would be easy for them to bring back Breeders and have them give you a Poke Ball when you beat them. They probably have tons of them anyway.
 
As far as I remember, some trainers in HGSS give things like the Laf Stone after defeating them twice.
Also, in RSE, Richboys' pokemon hold nuggets which can be Thief'd.
 
Maybe not ALL trainers do this, but a pack of trainers found in a building like Smugleaf said could work out! D: Have them hand out something rare and useful, like Ethers and Elixers...

Yeah, yeah. I remember some Youngster giving me a Calcium after I rematched him outside Goldenrod.

Anyway, what if it's like Mt. Battle? Battle a ton of trainers and get a badass prize? A poke that can't be gotten anywhere else. That'd be awesome.

Or mabye an in-game event that would be completely optional. You don't have to battle the previoulsy mentioned ton of trainers, but something badass happens if you do.
 
I think new prizes would be cool. A big change from only cash. I mean, a 10 year old being rich will only go so far... I need more items than I do money.
 
It'd be nice if we could get a few items here and there.
 
I think it would be cool if the Gym Leaders handed out more stuff.

Like, for example: You defeat a Steel-type gym leader and get your money, your TM and badge AND you get... Steel Coat.

Each gym leader could give you an evolution-item based on the type of pokemon they use in their gym.

Also, the Elite Four need to give out items.
 
That sounds good on a post, but the only way to see the reaction of the idea is to make a game that has it.

Also, a side comment. I think it'd be cool to battle people in the city, and get a ticket prize for something. It seems logical to have more people battling in cities. Plus they'd be carying more stuff.
 
I don't like the idea of everyone giving out rare items. Maybe common items like Poke Balls, but rare items is just overkill and in the process makes them not rare.
 
I'm all up for this idea! I don't want everyone to give out items, though. Maybe just a few select trainers and that's it.
I'll still need moolah to buy stuff. :3

I really do not want the E4 and gym trainers giving out too many items. Maybe the trainers could give you a TM but that is about it. The E4 should just give you cash.

As much as I like this idea: you can wager on battles in a certain area. Most of the time you could win money or common items (potions and stuff). Very rarely, you may win something that cannot be purchased. Sadly, this will never occur.
 
It's already been kind of implemented with the trainer rematches on HGSS. For example, if you battle Youngster Joey, he sometimes gives you a HP Up.
 
I just don't like getting TMs from gym leaders that I never use...

I don't usually like/want the TMs they hand out and I would rather get some evolution items. :)

That's just me, though.
 
Actually, I think a more interesting idea would be that each rematch with the "item trainers" you would get something from a "pool" (kind of like the ability Pickup).
