Right Brain vs. Left Brain Test

Same here. First time, it was counter-clockwise, next three times it was clockwise, now it's back to counter-clockwise. It's also making my eyes cross and uncross.

Yeesh, it's switching on me without concentrating. Like when I blink. No wonder I'm always so confused.

Wait, lol, what way is it suppose to be rotating? It's giving me a headache by looking at it because it keeps switching on me also and it looks more like it's wobbling back and forth.

For me the body rotated clockwise until I tried to trick myself into thinking the body was moving counter-clockwise. I noticed that 'rotation' occurs on to different axis points where the counter-clockwise animation appears to tilt back and right where the clockwise appears back and left.

If you do look at it long enough, you can parse the different sections of the body. The animation is on a constant loop, nothing is changing. After focusing at the pelvis, the body almost seemed to split into 3 oscillating sections, the legs, the body and the shifting head. From that point I could shift between clockwise-counterclockwise at will.

I'm not sure the exact method behind this, but I don't think this is a real accurate test, though one of many that can be used.

Interestingly, it was hard at first to visualize the counter-clockwise moment indicating I was using the right side of my brain but upon logically dissecting the oscillating figure, the 'counter-clockwise' moment became more apparent which is a trait of the left side.

That really confused me and it took me a while to work out that it was going clockwise. Now it keeps switching on me so I'm confused o_O

Hmmm... after concentrating and looking at the animation for so may times, the animation is starting to switch up on me without concentrating.

I'm guessing this animation works by trying to test which way our subconscious thinks the female is rotating; if you look hard enough, you will notice that the side of her raised leg is different depending on which way you think she's going - right leg for clockwise, and left leg for anti-clockwise. Notice too the direction her head is titled to. It may be that which side we are perceiving more in an image where the sides are rather ambigious relates to which side of the brain we use more.

clockwise everytime...guess I'm a rightbrainer.

Well, if I focus on the foot that's on the floor, it is much easier for me to change the direction at will.

I wouldn't be surprised if the gif file itself randomly switched and it was just an elaborate hoax of some sort.

I saw it switch, it just abruptly stopped and reversed direction.

I agree that it's a hoax that's randomly programmed to switch and drive you crazy thinking it's your brain. If it's meant to be an optical illusion where it's both, it wouldn't take long for it to change.

I tested it this way: Looking at the legs, say I notice the right leg goes in front when it moves to the right. So then I imagine it to go behind instead of in front, but that just doesn't seem to work. After like 10-15 rotations, I finally see it go behind, because the pelvis changes so it fits with that! And that's no illusion, it really looks completely reverse than it did a minute ago. Try if you don't believe me and you'll see that it switches when it actually switches.

If you STILL don't believe me, try this. I don't know if there's a way to cut gifs, but say there is, so record it as you notice it going counterclockwise and save it. Then, record it after it switches. Then put two of them on the same page. You'll see that they are NOT identical.

I'm leftbrained, and the description fits perfectly, except the fact/imagination thing which seems more or less equal on my part.

Actually, I saved the gif. It consists of one full rotation in 34 frames. I played it looping on Ulead GIF Animator, and it does switch just as on the site. Also, I tried something similar to Kaizer Sozé's way (looking at the properties when it appears to be going clockwise and when it appears to be going counterclockwise), and it's the same image (0,,5687820,00).

That said, I can't remember what I first saw it as when my sister showed me a while ago, but I do usually see it as counterclockwise.
