Just so you know who I'm talking about so there aren't people who somehow don't have Google ask stupid ass questions. Btw I'm not a big fan of hers so this is most likely biased :P

Anyways ever since she got her ass kicked by her ex-boyfriend she has been acting differently. Her lyrics have become more mature and far more, trashy. The way she displays herself in her music videos is also not how she used to be. I mean my little niece LOVES her music and I don't want her to get the wrong idea. Honestly it just looks like either she doesn't care anymore about her image as a person, or she has gone crazy, or her getting beat up brought out the true Rihanna?

Anyways discuss on why you think she's acting like this now instead of like that for example.

yeahhh

see, the problem that i've got with her now is that like... all of her songs on her latest album are about chris. like "rude boy," "stupid in love," etc. most of the songs are okay, but daaamn... her last album was SO much better. there was so much marvelous songs on "good girl gone bad," such as "umbrella," "shut up and drive," "hate that i love you," "don't stop the music," "breakin' dishes," "take a bow," and "rehab." there was so much variety. on "rated r," there's practically nothing *surprising*.

the only songs that are as good as the ones i listed are:

- russian roulette
- fire bomb
- photographs
- stupid in love
- the last song
- rude boy

the other ones including "hard" and such are just crappy, in my opinion. when i compare the rest of the album with "good girl gone bad," i'm just like "nah."

on the other hand, i read that she wanted to try something different and that she didn't want to have a signature sound, or something. that's cool, but i personally like variety. "rated r" is just so dark and lacks good stuff.

now, i think she should move on and stop talking about chris. she should ignore everything that's related to him, from now on. she talked about him in interviews and i think it's time to like... just forget about all of it. it's not like it was only chris' fault. i'm pretty sure rihanna triggered something that made chris angry. she's just not saying it.

but yeah, regardless, nonetheless, and in spite of what i just said... rihanna is amazing. :}

oh and about her behaviour nowadays, well yeah, it's understandable. she went through things and it's part of life! everyone changes and everyone grows as a person.

I agree with everything you said. "Good Girl Gone Bad" is much better than her new album. I loved "Take A Bow", and "Disturbia" etc. But her new songs are just not good imo.

I love Rihanna. I even like her new songs, but yes, overall quality has gone down. She's even a little scary... and i think with that she's lost some of her glamour she used to have. I do think however, she will get it back and have a kick--- next album!

This reminds me of the change that Hilary Duff underwent, when she was almost murdered by the Russian man who stalked her. Her music suddenly dive-bombed into a melancholic mess. Making her songs nothing more than 'warnings' for men to not stalk her, Dignity by all accounts is a pathetic album, devoid of anything apart from fear.

Allot of women act coy towards men, because they believe all the men could stalk them, it can sometimes lead to delusional beliefs being formed and stereotyping. Basically it's all a sad mess, if only everyone would live in peace. People could live without obsessive fears.

If pop artists 'grow up', whatever the fuck that means... I guess it's good for them, but growing up doesn't mean you have to turn into a depressed mess.

Wow, somebody changed after being domestically assaulted? Shocking.
It's saddening that is what it is, this thread isn't the one to act like a smart-ass in, ok thanks.

Because she isn't eighteen anymore?
Seriously, in the first picture she's seventeen. Now that she's a young woman of twenty-two, she's certainly more provocative. Let's be honest here: To many people, a large part of her appeal is her sex appeal. Plus, after going through what she has, having a harder edge isn't really that unusual. Also, on a side note, saying that she "got her ass kicked" is a pretty disrespectful way to put domestic violence.

I personally do not believe playing the age card, is the right one to play here... The question is this... Can she, channel all that anger into making her music better? Or does it all just sound over-the-top?

People in general don't change all that much when they turn 18, it is society which calls you an an adult then and tells you to stop having fun, it's not a written rule of humanity, it's a sad social expectation. Why grow up? Why not, stay young forever? Or even better be yourself and not anything else, such as 'adult' or 'childish'...

True, she doesn't automatically become more mature and change totally when she hits eighteen. I agree. However, her marketing changes. Instead of being marketed as a sweet girl-next-door, it is pretty clear that once she hit the benchmark age, her marketing became noticeably more suggestive. So, it may not be her who has changed, but how her image is engineered and the content of her music videos certainly has,

I've never liked Rihanna, so either way it's something that I haven't noticed.
