Riolu/Lucario for Ash? (youtube video)

It's just main Pokemon and current popular Pokemon. There was some food (noodles or fruit snacks or whatever) that did the same thing with Pokemon a few years back.

Wow, Pokemon noodles! I want some! Looks like a bit of a ripoff though, only thing Pokemon about it are a few face things in the noodles. Are you supposed to eat them...? But if they sold them here, I'd say goodbye to Pot Noodle XD The packets look very cool.

Yeah, Lucario's there just for the advertising.

Yeah, I wouldn't count this.

We've got Pikachu, the starters, Aipom (whose gained a popularity boost), and Buizel, Mime Jr., and Lucario- all cute, early DP Pokemon.

Poliwhirl and Jigglypuff were on pokemon Mac and Cheese, but that didn't make them main team pokemon. They're just noodles.

Poliwhirl was actually one of Misty's Pokemon for a long time before it evolved. Jigglypuff was a popular recurring character.

Yeah, it's only on the commercial because it's a popular pokemon.

But at the time the Mac and Cheese was out, no one had poliwhirl. I suspect it was there because it made a good noodle shape, and no other reason.

It also happens to be Sugimori's favorite, which is why it appeared with alot of other popular Pokemon.

Yeah, Poliwhirl was on pretty much every other piece of merchandise back in the day.

The point being that while it was on all the merchandise, it wasn't on anyone's team for a long time. So in the same vein, Lucario being on merchandise doesn't mean it's going to be on anyone's team either. Noodles do not make evidence.

But by that logic, we can assume that because it is advertising the noodles, it will eventually become a recurring character.

This is interesting. Obviously the writers still remember the Aura (Hadou) stuff in Movie 8, and maybe they wanna write more about that in DP. I just saw the latest summary of this week's 1hr SP at http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/anime/pokemon_dp/, and i'll just mention the Spiritomb ep. Here's how the story goes: When Ash and Dawn are doing some training, Buizel's Sonicboom attack accidentally destroys a stone-piled tower. It is getting dark around the collapsed tower and a stone from the debris is hit by a thunder. The stone is a keystone and a Spiritomb appears from within. Spiritomb begins to attack Ash and co, who then run away and take shelter in a nearby village. From the villagers, they hear about an ancient legend: there once was a Pikachu trainer—the Aura Messenger, who sealed the evil Spiritomb into the stone-made Spirit Tower. Ash and co then realise that the evil Pokemon was accidentally unsealed by them. To be responsible, Ash and friends decide to re-seal Spiritomb...

a Pikachu trainer known as Aura Messenger...it's really really becoming fun. will Ash be using some Aura power from his quality?

That doesn't sound like Aaron though...

BTW, what's the Bibarel summary say?

Sounds more like that dude in blue who had a Pikachu, that kid mentioned in "A Different Kind Of Misty" back in AG. Or somethin'.

BTW, what's the Bibarel summary say?

In front of an under-construction stone bridge in a valley, Ash & co. meet two people in a quarrel, one being Mr. Ishisu, a Pokemon breeder, and the other the designer of the bridge. The two tell them the bridge work has to be finished in three days as there'll be some event on the day the bridge is completed. But the leader of the bridge-building experts has his waist hurt and cannot make a move. Therefore the work has to be discontinued. In place of his work, the designer acts at the commander of the project while Mr Ishisu is in charge of the quarrying work. However, it's worrying that the quarrying specialist—Bibarel seems to be on a strike and doesn't work at all. Ash and friends offer to help with the quarrying work, but why is Bibarel not willing to work?

basically a filler.

Haha, are they comparing the writers' strike in the US with a stubborn Beadull?

It DOES. I wonder if that could actually be referenced?

I think the episode was written prior to that...if anything, it sounds like some good ol' Communist Manifesto of the working class. Sinnoh IS Russia afterall. And we have Marx next episode. :p
