Is death really the end?
Nestled in an isolated valley deep in the Rocky mountains, a mansion sits where a man tries to answer that question. Known only as The Doctor, he runs a colossal research facility deep under the mansion.
It's purpose? The study of the nature of life, the soul, and resurrection. Thus, human subjects are needed. Whether an orphan kidnapped off the street, an illegal immigrant caught up in human trafficking, psychically sensitive humans stolen from their homes and replaced with clones, or simply hikers that just got lost, they were brought to the facility, and became guinea pigs for twisted experiments. Those who survived became monsters. Those who didn't may have been reborn as monsters, or pieces of one. The research data was used to make facsimiles of humans, constructs that are very nearly human, but not quite. These would be used to replace anyone taken when their families would become suspicious, or perhaps kept in the facility for testing.
You are one of the denizens of this facility. You are granted a dorm, and depending on how cooperative you are, you are allowed free reign of much of the mansion. However, you are still very much a prisoner: Anyone who sets foot outside will be shot.
It's time to get out.
Rules
-No godmodding. Don't say an attack hits. Just say your character tried to attack.
-Your characters are strong, but not that strong. They could handle maybe an armed cop in a one-on-one fight, and probably take out a small team of knife-wielding thugs. But if they want to survive, at least at the start, it's not wise to pick fights with a squad of armed guards. That doesn't mean you can't fight them. But if you do, you're going to need a good strategy if you want to succeed.
Sign-Ups
Name: Everyone has a name, although your character may only be known by their serial number at this point.
Gender: Boy, girl, robot, etc.
Age: The facility has been around for roughly 30 years, and although The Doctor prefers younger subjects, your character could well have been in the mansion from the start. Or even a worker at the facility helping the subjects.
Nature: Your character may have once been human, but now the nature of their being has been altered. What sort of creature are they? A monster that sucks the very life force from others? Or perhaps an anomaly, a being that at once both exists between the human and spirit worlds? Or maybe you never were human, and instead have always been a biological construct, your memories mere fabrications? Whatever you are, nature never intended you.
Powers: What powers has your character gotten due to the doctor's experiments? Can they tear a man limb from limb? Or track a man to the ends of the earth using scent alone? Or do bullets flatten themselves against your character's skin?
Skills: Does your character have any mundane skills they've learned?
Weaknesses: The Doctor's experiments are not without side effects. Your character has at least one weakness. They might be slowly going mad. Or maybe silver will render them immobile. Or maybe they have an aversion to religious symbols. Make sure this is an actual weakness that always negatively affects your character. 'Impulsive' or 'Easily Angered' or personality traits don't really count, since, let's face it, if you want to choose those, you're clearly trying to avoid something that will actually hinder your character.
Appearance: What does your character look like? A picture is worth a thousand words.
History: What did your character do before they arrived at the facility? Did anything out of the ordinary occur while they were there? Was there a special reason for them being taken? Make it as long as you like.
Likes: Things your character really likes, like the smell of old books, or watching the sunset.
Dislikes: Things your character dislikes, such as the smell of blood, or the taste of caramel.
Favorite thing: What does your character treasure, beyond all else?
Example:
Name: Richter Noxt
Gender: Male
Age: 15
Nature: Psychically-augmented human.
Powers: Due to having his brain modified, Richter now has access to psychic powers. He can use these to heal the wounds of himself or his allies.
Skills: Richter has a very good memory, and due to being raised there, thus knows more about the facility than most other subjects.
Weakness: Using his powers to heal more than a few cuts will cause headaches that render him unable to do much more than walk slowly about a minute later. Due to the fact that to activate his powers, he had bits of machinery put in his brain, strong magnets can also cause these headaches.
Appearance: What does your character look like? A picture is worth a thousand words.
History: Richter's mother was involved in some medical studies before Richter was conceived. The medicine had no immediate affects on the people in the study. However, when they had kids, those children would experience abnormal brain growth.
This study was organized by The Doctor. He had the subjects kidnapped as infants, then replaced with clones that would die after one month. Richter was one of these people. He was more or less raised in the facility.
Likes: The mansion's library, helping others
Dislikes: Headaches, not being allowed to go the library
Favorite thing: A travel guide he managed to swipe from one of the researchers going on vacation.
