So, has anyone else tried this? Abusing the RNG to get a Pokémon with good IVs. It's a bit harder than just getting a shiny...

I had my first go today, and managed to surprise myself; I bred a shiny Dratini with perfect 31 IVs in everything. I really didn't think it was going to work properly, but it actually wasn't too bad. I guess I should try and find someone to clone it now!

I am trying to learn how to RNG for IV's I would really like your or someone elses help.

Also is there a way to RNG for Shinyness and IV's???
 
Well, first you RNG for shininess, nature, ability and gender in the usual way; save when he's holding the egg. Then you begin to RNG for IVs; since the shininess is set when the egg is generated and the IVs are set when you take the egg, you can get both.

Holy hell... I never had any desire to learn RNG until I read that post. Breed any Flawless Pokemon I want, and still have them be legit? Win. Now I just gotta find someone to look up my SID...
 
Lolx.. Not gonna do this.. I even worried about the "minute" when I rng for shiny.. Now this comes to "second".. DX
 
I will never RNG for IVs, that takes way too long. I'm happy with just RNGing for Shiny Pokemon.

I think you only need the SID to get shinies; you should be able to get IVs without using it.

Once I'd worked out what I was going for, It took me less time to get the IVs than the shininess; I managed to hit the delay I needed on the third try. Perhaps I'm just lucky.
 
I've done it with something like 10-20 Pokemon. It's really not as hard as people think it is, once you get hitting your delay down you're pretty much good to go. If you don't have AR, like me, it's made a bit longer and maybe a bit harder, but even then it's not that bad.

There are only two, now three, people I know who actually do it on this forum. But, I'm working with someone else to help him get started in it. In fact, I'm going to be writing him a step by step walk-through on how to catch a Shaymin with perfect IVs, which is the first thing he wanted to do. I might post it here as well in case it might help someone.

I prefer breeding the old fashioned way, but I would be interested to see a guide you make for legends. I haven't caught my Shaymin in Platinum so it may be fun to give it a try :)
 
Wow.. Free's guide is a MUST read.. (O.O) Since I get headache just "seeing" the Smogon's guide..

What about for nature and gender? Don't I need my SID for those?
 
I've been working on it for like a week
it's mostly trial and error
 
I JUST finally figured this out! I'm so excited!

However, I don't know my SID yet in Platinum, so I can't RNG for any shiny Pokemon just yet. I think it's been figured out now that you can figure out your SID if you have a certain number of chained shinies. I have 6 shiny Croagunks; would that work?
 
Yes, I think four is all you need... Click the "Chain to SID" button in RNG Reporter and fill in their stats.
 
Thanks! It took me a little while to realize that you could do it right from the RNG reporter, haha. I actually ended up needing all 6 of my Croagunks for my SID, so I guess it just depends (all but one were synched Adamant, so I guess that didn't help).

i've done it once (Probaly by accident) and i seriously need help.
i have no prob with RNG for shinies... but this is way harder
