The dude's a good actor. So what if he had is problems in the past? He did the responsible thing and took care of them. I fail to see why that would be a problem in his doing this movie.

Incidentally, I think he'd ROCK as Tony Stark. Almost in the "Kevin Spacey was born to play Lex Luthor" sort of deal. Can't wait.
 
Listen, I'm not saying he's going to get drunk on the set and beat up hookers, I'm saying that his reputation will precede him and possibly color people's opinion about the film. And I was hoping for a younger actor (although, in all honesty, I'd MUCH rather have Downey than the long-rumored Tom Cruise).

I still don't see Spacey as Luthor (although, honestly, I haven't seen the movie), but usually my judgement doesn't change after seeing the films. And I get the same feeling here. I admit, I could be wrong, though. I'll hold my final judgement until I at least get a teaser trailer.
 
Now give me Brad Garrett as Happy Hogan already.
