A new Supervillain calling himself Lucifer has arrived in Rome, the Eternal City, and his goal is both simple and clear: To raze the Basilica of St. John Lateran, and the entire city along with it. He has coerced Mr. Possessor into joining him in his scheme with promise of a new, immortal body.

Can The Cleric stop this villainous duo in time to save the city?

The man known as the Cleric stepped out of Rome's Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, looking forward to a nice vacation. He was planning on spending the next month travelling in Italy, visiting Rome, Florence, Milan and Tuscany among other locations. He had used his British passport to avoid being typecast as an obnoxious American tourist which had made getting through customs far easier.

Gerald Amsel...

No, Lucifer. That was his name. It had always been. Gerald was gone. Dead. Another existence worth forgetting.

Lucifer was awaiting the arrival of the person he had hired to assist him in his endeavors. Namely, someone who went under the alias of Mr. Possessor. He was in one of the particular back-alleys of Rome. Sure, it might not have been the most inconspicuous of places, but not that it mattered.

Now, this Mr. Possessor was, apparently, rarely found without another body or object he's inhabiting. So, technically, he could be anyone, or even anything. And seeing that this city was large, picking him out of the crowd would have be problematic, to say the least. So, somewhere out of the way was a necessary meeting point.

Re: ROGUES GALLERY: The Infernal City (HiPS, Oblivion & Singin in the Rain)

Raymond trodded towards a nearby family doing their rounds while inhabiting a puppy. As he got closer to them, a little girl who didn't know any better left the group to go pet him. He ran across the streets into an unassuming manhole, the little girl following him.

Eventually, he reached his secret lair. It was small, but it had all that he needed: a bunch of dead corpses kept in a chamber that kept them in their fresh state, an assortment of of random objects that would pose a threat if possessed, and a trap that when stepped on, would release a barrage of poison darts, killing a victim. Unfortunately for the little girl, this was her fate...

Putting the puppy into the chamber, Mr. Posessor climbed out of his lair as a little girl, heading towards the place where he would meet the man with his immortal body...

Lucifer noticed who appeared to be a small girl walking towards him. But upon further inspection, he noticed that her eyes had a blank, almost soulless appearance to them. That was definitely Mr. Possessor.

"That could've been quicker," he said with a very thick German accent. "But, I must admit, finding your way here without anyone approaching or suspecting you? Commendable. Assuming that you know the basic design of the plan, allow me to relay some specifics."

"First and foremost, we're going to face retaliation, probably the military. They're going to come after me first, most definitely. But due to your nature, they will have no idea where, who, or what you are at any given time. Unless you do something foolish, which would not be a good idea. Now, even though I may be powerful, it they throw everything they have right at me, I could very well perish. I may be resistant, but I'm not immortal, unfortunately."

"So that's one of your main goals. Sabotage. In the event that someone tries to stop my attack, you come in and use your abilities unique to you to try and either ward them off, turn others against them, or throw them into confusion and anarchy. Are you with me so far?"

The Cleric was enjoying a nice day in the Italian capital. He was sitting at a small cafe on a cobblestone street sipping on an espresso and people watching. It had become a habit of his to watch anyone that walked by him and make sure that they weren't up to something that could potentially harm him. Becoming a 'hero' had made him just a bit paranoid.

Posessor nodded his head, due to his inability to talk.

Re: ROGUES GALLERY: The Infernal City (HiPS, Oblivion & Singin in the Rain)

"Now, any moment now, we're going to make our attack. Keep a watchful eye out for any retaliation, and stop them dead in their tracks. If this plays out how I think it will, I'm going to have my hands full as it is." Lucifer said. "You're probably wondering about the body I promised you. Don't worry, I'll keep my promise. This will come first. We'll discuss that once this place has burned to the ground. You should consider yourself lucky that I even decided to enlist your assistance. I could do this myself, with only a few minor complications."

"But enough chatter. Let the retribution begin, and let's start it off with a bang."

With that, he sprouted his wings, and flew up and away from Mr. Possessor, hands blazing with hellfire. "Hear me now, pathetic mortals!" he shouted, his voice amplified, now flying above the streets of Rome. "The insects that dare to call themselves humans will be eradicated, and it will be by my hand! And my conquest begins here! All who oppose me will me stricken down like the vermin they are!"

As he spoke, spheres of flame flew from his hands into the air, the projectiles landing amongst the streets. Civilians quickly began running in a panic.

"You have GOT to be kidding me." The Cleric muttered to himself as he looked up at the sky above. Someone flew above him raining down hellfire and he was forced to abandon his coffee and dive to his right to avoid getting hit by one of the blasts. Getting up, he picked up his spilled espresso cup and threw it high into.the sky at Lucifer.

Re: ROGUES GALLERY: The Infernal City (HiPS, Oblivion & Singin in the Rain)

Before Lucifer had any time to react, he felt an object sharply connect with his forehead. He stumbled for a while, before locating the source of the projectile. That person had an abnormal throw; normally tossed objects had little to no effect on him. He glared. He expected no resistance from the civilians. But he got the feeling that this was no simple civilian. "You would dare to try and strike me down?" he said. This wasn't how he normally went about his attacks. He normally used more sneaky tactics. But this goal was to send a message, so making his presence easily known was required.

Re: ROGUES GALLERY: The Infernal City (HiPS, Oblivion & Singin in the Rain)

The Cleric glared right back. "Here I was just starting to enjoy a well deserved vacation when suddenly fire erupts all around me." He remarked as he felt for one of his custom-made firearms with his left hand. He was moving said hand slowly to try and prevent the villain from noticing that he was reaching for his shoulder holster. "And to answer your question... if you are doing something vile, which I have no doubt you are... then I do dare to strike you down." The Cleric chuckled. "After all, it's in the contract." He deadpanned, referring to a non-existent contract that superheroes had to sign. A joke you see, a way to lighten his mood. After all, annoyances led to anger, anger clouded his mind and made his job just that much harder.

Re: ROGUES GALLERY: The Infernal City (HiPS, Oblivion & Singin in the Rain)

Lucifer gave a condescending chuckle. "What I'm doing is part of my contract." He then brandished his sword, which began glowing with a dark red aura, and swooped down, preparing for a beheading strike. He didn't want his attack cut off so shortly. He needed to move quickly if he wanted to get this done.

Re: ROGUES GALLERY: The Infernal City (HiPS, Oblivion & Singin in the Rain)

The Cleric knew that getting hit with a sword that was glowing bright red would probably hurt just a bit. It was time for some evasive tactics. He quickly drew his pistols and fired off one quick shot at Lucifer's hands before kicking over the table he had been sitting at and taking cover behind it.

Re: ROGUES GALLERY: The Infernal City (HiPS, Oblivion & Singin in the Rain)

OOC: *KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK* Don't forget about this one, guys. ;-) In two days, HiPS will win by default if neither Villain has posted a response...

Re: ROGUES GALLERY: The Infernal City (HiPS, Oblivion & Singin in the Rain)

Mr. Posessor quietly snuck out of the back alley in little girl form. He would return to his lair, posess something potentially lethal, and wreak havok.

Re: ROGUES GALLERY: The Infernal City (HiPS, Oblivion & Singin in the Rain)

@Singin in the Rain
@Hide in Plain Sight
OOC: Lucifer, the Primary Villain, has forfeited this Plot. The question I have to pose to the two of you, then, is this: Are you willing to continue the Plot between Mr. Possessor and The Cleric without him?
