So, does anyone here have any opinion of this software? I was thinking of buying it to compliment the online classes (that I heard were horrible) as to not fail the class. Does anyone recommend or would like to discourage me from buying this before I actually ya know buy it? Thanks in advance~

It depends on what language you're trying to learn. For someone who speaks English, Germanic languages are easy, Hellenic ones are harder, and languages that don't use a "standard" letter system are nigh-impossible with Rosetta Stone. You will notice that none of the people in the ads used the Japanese version of the software.

Michael Phelps with Chinese.

But anyway, for Germanic or Romance language I wholeheartedly endorse it. It absolutely did not help me to learn Japanese though.

I've found it to be a somewhat good supplement when learning languages, not good enough to justify the cost IMO. But if you can get it for free from a friend then I say go for it. I used it when I was taking Spanish 1-4 in High School and have been using the Japanese version while studying Japanese in College. I will say again, I wouldn't recommend just using The Rosetta Stone, but to combine it with other learning methods, as it doesn't really teach you exactly what you are saying or the specifics behind the language but It works pretty well if you can associate words and phrases with images.

Honestly it kind of reminds me of watching subbed anime, you see whats happening and you see and hear the word so it kind of gets imprinted into your mind.
