In pearl and diamond they introduced a new way of evolving pokemon, pokemon evolve if they are in the right area (was game freak out of items or ideas, stupidest evo method yet). Now I'm trying to figure out where you evlove Eevee and magnemite (as well as nosepass, but thats not in the jhoto). I think leafeon in the national park or ilex forrest, glaceon in ice path, and magnezone in the power plant in the kanto (and probopasss in mount moon)

I think the Moss rock will be in the Ilex Forest, the Ice rock in the Ice Path and Magnemite/Nosepass could evolve in Mt. Silver

Wouldnt surprise me if Glaceon and company would just be exclusive from Sinnoh. Just one of those reasons to support trading between games and keeping certain regions unique.

The difference between DPPt/HGSS and RSE/FrLg is that in RSE half the Pokedex wasn't available and the other half wasn't available in FrLg. It made sense to keep the non-Kanto specific evolutions out of Kanto.

In DPPt however, you can viably catch every single Pokemon (with the exception of starters and legends) without needing HGSS. It would be counterproductive to make DPPt independent of HGSS but not the reverse. I think you'll be able to evolve them within the game

Finally, a topic on this. I was getting annoyed seeing it pop up so much in other topics.

See below.

As for Magnezone.... Frankly, I don't know. The Power Plant wouldn't work really and I can't think of any other place.

THe problem with the power plant is zapados. The problem is nowhere else is electrically related. Maybe a new place?

Not happening. The Power Plant is now the train power plant. So yeah. Magnezone could get effected by the radio waves in goldenrod. Or the ruins with their crazy magnetic field.

..or the magnetic field from the magnet train tracks.

The map of Johto shows the magnet train tracks coming above ground at one point, so that area could serve as a place to evolve Magneton and Nosepass.

That's similar to what I was thinking, except maybe you could just trigger the evolution by riding the Magnet Train.

i was thinking for magnezone could evolve from lake of rage or a rocket warehouse cause remember the waves that made magikarp evolve could evolve magneton if not i wouldnt mind the power plant or even the magnet train

but who knows, there might be battles on the train, like all the boat rides

Doubt it. We've seen footage of Gold in the Magnet Train. It seems to be just like in GSC, a quick cutscene and you're there.

If they're going to put a Moss Rock and Ice Rock in Johto, they'll have to be in separate, inaccessible rooms from the normal areas you can visit before the Elite Four.

The reason is that the way this kind of evolution works is that it checks the location data for the map you're on. So in other words, Eevee will evolve into Leafeon no matter what area of Eterna Forest it levels up in, not just the patch of grass in front of the Moss Rock. This means that the areas with the rocks/magnetism will have to be blocked off until later (on a different map).

Like if they required Rock Climb, or if an NPC blocked the way, or if a new path mysteriously appeared out of nowhere (think Spring Path in D/P).

Of course, if they put them in Kanto, it won't matter.

It'll matter somewhat in Kanto so as not to create continuity errors.
