Rafe Seraph the king of the country Cisgadb stood at the top of stairs in a large ballroom in his castle. However his current clothing did not match that of a king. He wore simple peasant boots, pants, and a shirt. His knee length black hair reached his knees and his emerald eyes watched as the new students of Royal Academy arrived. As king he did not leave his castle often and when he did he was heavily guarded and his clothing and style disguised his preferred appearance, thus he knew that not a single new student except for those of his blood would recognize him.

At the front of the castle the drawbridge was down and knights stood guard. Students were to show their invitations to the guards at the gates and were then lead by attendants to the ballroom where food was set out on tables for them. They were to remain there until it was time for the introduction ceremony of the academy. While waiting they were free to eat and converse with each other as they pleased.

Felicity, her twin brother Gabriel, and her cousin Dahlila stood by each other watching as others arrived, the others being their fellow classmates. Their pets stood right beside, or in Dahlila's case on, them. Each was anxious but excited at the same time minus Gabriel who was annoyed at being forced here. Dahlila and Felicity were especially excited to make new friends with the other students.

Will was escorted to the ball room, after having shown his invitation to one of the guards. He took off his cloak, as his raven, Tobias, chirped, and flew up into one of the rafters of the ballroom.

A bored expression painted itself on Will's face, as he sighed in discontent.

"Another boring bout it seems." He said, his voice almost monotone and sullen. "But perhaps I can find something that can ease my tedium for the time being."

Will pulled a Tarot Card out his pocket, that was captioned, The Lovers. "Perhaps I should take the time to form bonds with those whom I shall attend school with."

A servant then asked if Will required any beverage.

"Earl Grey Tea, do make haste." Will ordered, almost cooly. The servant then returned, with a cup of tea in a ceramic tea cup with a glossy finish.

Taking a sip, Will closed his eyes and pondered what the fates might have in store during his schooling.

"I suppose only time will tell..." Will whispered.

Felicity frowned as she heard how Will had spoken to one of the servants. As drinks would not bid well to be left out there were servants for the purpose of serving them and nothing more than that. However that did not mean that they should be spoken to as so. The royal family had always treated their servants as equals. "Make haste," Felicity said in a mocking tone. "Man does that annoy me. No respect."

"If you're too loud it will cause trouble you know," Gabriel commented to his sister with a bored expression.

"Come now I'm sure the servants where he comes from like being treated that way," Dahlila said in hopes of calming her cousin. Usually Felicity was calm and cheerful but sometimes she got fiery depending on the subject. 'Just like her mother' she thought to herself.

"Do pardon me." Will said, in response to Felicity's comment.

"But perhaps you should be more careful about the bonds you form with your fellow students. Every bond has power, and every meeting has meaning. No matter how trivial the occurrence, no matter how little of a meaning it may have, that bond formed will have some sort of impact on your life."

Will then chuckled. "I've decided, you shall entertain me for the time being." Smiling almost like an impish devil as these words passed his lips.

"I should watch the bonds I make? I will entertain you? You have some nerve. You don't even know-" Felicity started to rant until Rafe walked up to them causing her to immediately become silent.

"Is there a problem here?" he asked the four.

"Not with me," Gabriel commented before walking away, quickly followed by Dahlila.

"Well?" he questioned the two again looking between them. Felicity stared at the ground thinking of how to reply while waiting to also hear Will's.

Basch arrived in the ballroom escorted by guards, making haste to find himself a private spot in the room in which to sit and be unnoticed. The guards had made him feel a bit insecure, as they had regarded him with a good deal of scrutiny, the majority of which he hypothesized was due to his bulky cloak, which held many of his belongings. Oh, sure, it made him stand out and look like some sort of cultist, but it was his, his sister had hand-sewn it for him, and he'd be damned if he gave it up because of someone else's ill judgment. He couldn't help but cast a withering glance at the others in the room before drawing his cloak more tightly to himself. Those guards had nearly made him lose his temper. Thankfully, his large supply of medication kept that in check. Fighting down the urge to begin sharpening his sword, he simply sat in the corner, cloak drawn around him, eyes closed and head down, as a sign for others to not disturb him. With his imposing size, though, he doubted anyone would, though.

The soothing tones of harp strings could be heard as Aleph approached the castle. He had walked the entire 100 miles to the castle, and was none the worse for the wear. To stave off boredom, he had began playing his harp. Accompanying him was his seal, Slappy, who true to his name, would occasionally chime in with a slap of his flappers. The animal was in Aleph's backpack, his top half and flippers poking out. On his waist sat a short sword, plain, yet quite sharp.

"Good morrow!" Aleph said, tucking his harp under his shoulder. He reached into his backpack and took out a bottle of fine wine.

"My mom gave me this to share. Would anyone like some?" He asked. He looked around, and gave it to the first person he saw. It looked like a homeless man, at the top of the ballroom stairs. He looked like the village idiot in his own time, Fergus. He missed home already.

"Here. Take this. What's your name? I shall compose a ballad in your honor, in the name of village idiots everywhere." Aleph said. Slappy clapped his flippers and barked at the king.

OOC: If Aleph was a person in the real world, he'd totally be French!

OOC: Wasn't it an otter? And love the France pic

Gabriel's jaw dropped as he saw a boy walk in and pull out wine. Not to mention there was a sea creature sticking from his bag. His clothing didn't imply royalty but the pet did as usually only royalty could obtain such strange creatures. When he saw him offer another, who had come in and sat down to avoid people, wine he sighed. "I doubt he wants any," Gabriel said to the one with the wine. "Everyone in here is a student, servant, or teacher," at the last one he nodded his head at Rafe as that was exactly what Rafe was meant to be treated as. With his difference in appearance outside the walls being his known appearance as king and his current only being known to those inside, thus he did not have to worry about any students knowing he was the king. His family such as Gabriel were to treat him as a teacher and not as their family. "This one since he came in accompanied by guards like everyone is a student and the posture and positioning implies not wanting to be bothered," Gabriel continued. With his father busy chastising his sister, he wouldn't notice every little thing right now as he had moved from his spot at the stairs top.

"So this is the place," Mark said as he walked into the ballroom. The place was far bigger and more opulent than a farm boy like him was used to. To say nothing about the people. He knew some of them were royalty, or at least higher born than he. Frankly, he had no idea what he was supposed to do. For a while, he'd debated with himself about whether or not to accept the invitation. His family had talked him into going with it, and now he was wondering if this was a good idea.

At least he wasn't entirely alone. Alex, his only link to what he was familiar with, kept pace with his master. The beagle didn't seem as put out as Mark; in fact, he was almost excited. Lucky dog.

Not quite sure what else to do, Mark sat down in the nearest unoccupied chair; Alex obediently sat near him. He might've started a conversation with someone else if he'd had a good conversation starter. Besides, he was a much better listener than talker, so he listened.

OOC: Otter, seal, tomato, banana, same difference. Also, I meant Aleph was trying to give his wine to the king and thought he looked like the village idiot because if I have Calvin's character some he'll throw a tantrum and attack my character and then Slappy will need to slap him around and the entire RP will descend into madness with babies having babies and dogs and cats living together.

Aleph hadn't heard a single word the king had said, as he had gone to sit by Mark. He looked lonely.

"Hi there!" Aleph said cheerily. "Can I pet your dog?"

Mark was shaken out of his silence by someone who had just joined him. A larger fellow, with what looked like a seal in his backpack. "Uh, sure," he said. At least he now had something to say. "Just, uh...just don't get too rough with him. He doesn't react well to that."

Alex, meanwhile, had begun sniffing the newcomer--his way of getting a sense of the fellow. He also has his eyes--and nose--drawn towards the seal. After all, he'd never smelled anything like it.
