It was brought up in the thread about DearS, so I thought it deserved its own. Anyone else like this anime? I've seen all 12 episodes and it blew me away... everything about it is so perfect. Cute character designs, good story, beautiful classical soundtrack, awesome opening sequence, and lots of Lolita fashion. Ironically, the creator, Peach Pit, also made DearS, which is odd, because there's no fanservice in it unless you count petticoats and bloomers.


So, any other fans?
 
I always hear good things about this...I should check it out.

I absolutely ADORE Rozen Maiden! It's up there right after Ookiku Furikabutte as my favorite Japanese cartoon. I found out about the series through this line of dolls I like, and being a huge toy geek (I don't like BJDs though, ironically enough), I naturally became obsessed with it right away. I think it's got a really unique storyline, and you're right, the soundtrack is amazing! The characters are what I like the most though - I usually don't care about main characters much, but Shinku is my favorite. When the main characters of a cartoon become my favorites, you know it's good, har har.

Shinku is an amazing main character, really - while she IS special and powerful like your average hero, she's also got quite a few flaws, and I LOVE her dorky Kunkun-obsessed side. It's just incredible to watch her grow throughout the series. Back to Kunkun, that's another thing I love about Rozen Maiden - I really like it when shows have little... shows-within-the-shows that get developed on their own (like the Squishy Bearz from Eek! the Cat... who knows what I'm talking about?), and Detective Kunkun is no exception.
 
Personally to me, it's the type of series that you mainly watch for the interesting characters, not really the plot.

(And DearS is the only series of theirs that has fanservice)
 
Ya know there's also Traumend. :3

My favorite characters are Jun and Shinku. :3 They're also my favorite couple. xD -shot- I own all 3 DVDs of the first season..x.x I wonder who will release Traumend now that Geneon's kaput.

I watched the fansub, and when I saw it at a con for the first time, it was subbed, so how did Geneon do with the dub?

Well according to Animenewsnetwork, Funimation is trying to get the rights of Geneon's titles.

Jun - Remember Digimon? Well it just so happens that Izzy's VA is Jun. :3

Shinku - I like her voice, it captures Shinku's personality.

Suigintou - She captures her creepiness, but..I'd say her Japanese voice seems more creepier.

Hina-Ichigo - Remember Tenchi Muyo? Sasami's VA plays her. xD So cuute~

Suiseiseki - IMO, the worst match up. She just sounds weird and no DESU. xD Well I can live without the Desu, but..blah.

Souseiseki - I thought she was good too. :3

I haven't seen the dub for a while so blah..xD

I thought is was... bearable.
 
^_^ I think it is an excellent series. The story is a little strange (which is good!) but I agree the characters are interesting enough on their own. Only read teh manga, not the anime though.

I've never watched Tenchi anything (bad otaku, I know) and only vaguely remember Digimon, but at least Izzy is from the season I vaguely remember.
 
I've heard about Rozen Maiden and I haven't seen the anime...yet. But as far as I know, it is in fact, kick ass.

I also heard Ali Project does the music. I love Ali Project!
 
I think I want to get into this, but I'd rather sample it before I buy anything. Are there any clips around?

I've got a fansub I could burn/send you, but with Geneon's demise, I feel guilty for ever asking my friend to give me a copy of it. I suppose, given the low quality of the video anyway (it was formatted for iPod video 0.o), I could rip you the first episode and try to email it...
